100 Steps to Anini Beach - Clean & Comfortable!
- Minimum stay:2-14 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Anini Kai, on the North Shore of Kauai, is our comfortable, family-friendly vacation rental only 100 steps away from beautiful, peaceful Anini Beach, and is directly across Anini Road from a beach access path. One of the longest reefs in Hawaii is offshore about 500 yards, creating gentle wave action for swimming and snorkeling, or you can relax while the kids explore the beautiful, sandy beach. We have a large back yard, which is great for kids to play and pick the occasional starfruit, banana or orange from our mini-orchard.
Princeville is about two miles away, and has a grocercy store and other fun shops-and check out the horseback riding and zip-lining on the way to Princeville. Up the highway about five miles is the historic town of Hanalei, which also has shops and a grocery store. Hanalei Bay is great for surfing, boogey-boarding and sight-seeing. Also close is the Kilauea Lighthouse, with amazing views of the ocean and sealife, and you can take an educational outing and see the many varieties of birds in the wildlife preserve.
Windsurfing and deep sea fishing are available just down the road at the Anini Beach Park area, and view turtles and maybe an occasional seahorse while snorkeling!
Anini Kai is a county-approved vacation rental - TVNC#4219P - and is located at 3525 Anini Road, second house on the left after you arrive down to the Anini Beach area.

Had a wonderful week's stay at this lovely house. The location is wonderful - right across the street from Anini Beach. The house itself was clean and comfortably furnished, and the layout was perfect for us and our kids. The master bedroom suite upstairs is very private, and the downstairs is perfect for kids and an additional family member or couple. And the house has everything you need for the beach - beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Owner is incredibly nice and very responsive. We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.

Linda, Words alone cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay at Anini Kai. Back in Iowa now it seems like a dream world. Your charming home was the perfect spot for our family. We loved everything about the home and location. The only issue was time - we all wished we could have stayed a month. While all of the reviews are positive, none capture how truly awesome your home is. You've created an atmosphere that soothes the soul and provides family members of all ages exactly what they need. My 28 and 25 year old sons most loved hanging around the house, watching football at incredibly early hours, grilling freshly caught fish, and paddle boarding or snorkeling at the beach. They live in different cities now and enjoyed reconnecting in beach house luxury. I loved waking early to watch the sky lighten in the backyard with the silhouette of the palm tree and off in the distance the mountain/hills, while listening to waves break at the reef. My husband fed the cat that lives under the house and meows when it is hungry (but is otherwise quiet and respectful). He loved sitting on the lanai in the mornings sipping coffee. We all loved the comfortable bedding, all the open windows, and the fans. Amazing how little humidity there is. Stunning weather. Hardly any rain (which I understand is not a good thing for locals wanting rain). Low 80's during the day, great sleeping temps in the 60's at night. Having the beach entrance directly across the street was so convenient. You can hear the waves from the house and see the breakers off the reef through the trees. Yet, the house can be the refuge with the beach so near. This was a quiet beach with a lot of privacy. The listing pictures are accurate - but they do not fully reveal how beautiful the home it. Very clean and well-maintained. Owner a peach in all respects. Highly recommended. The location is perfect for hiking off Ke'es Beach, touring the Na Aini Kai gardens, watching the surf and birds at the lighthouse, and visiting Hanelie, which we did often - to eat, play, and shop. Only one of us had snorkeled before. We fell in love with it and say thousands of fish, plus sea turtles, snorkeling at Anini Beach. In addition to the wonderful setting, we made full use of the beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, straw beach mat, and cooler. The paddle boards we rented in Hanalie. Family of 4 from IowaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I, along with our 2 young boys loved staying at the house. Very comfortable, well stocked, and so close to the beach. The back yard was perfect for playing with the kids--it even had a kids' baseball and bat to play with. There were 2 bags full of masks, snorkels, flippers, and sand toys. There were beach chairs, a cooler, and boogie boards. The house itself was clean and comfortable. Our first night there we had the excitement of a tsunami evacuation! The owner's nephew Gary, who takes care of the property, called us and had us spend the night at his house which was out of the danger zone. This was very helpful as we didn't know where to go on the island. Anini beach is right across the street. It's super calm water, and you can walk out about 100 yards into the water and still be knee deep. A little further down the beach you can strap on a mask and go swimming with green sea turtles and humuhumunukunukuapua'as. The small, quaint town of Hanalei is just a few miles away, and beyond that Tunnels beach has really exciting snorkeling and breathtaking views. Also be sure to visit the lighthouse which is close to the house. We plan on going back again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mahalo for your wonderful comments and many thanks to my nephew and his family for such hospitality!

This was my families 2nd visit to Anini Kai so we already knew it was fabulous! But as with the first time the clean, homey feeling of Anini Kai just amazes me. Every amenity we could have wished for was there! And I love that each visitor is able to elave a few things behind knowing that someone else can use the items. We enjoyed a few extras and left a few extras ourselves! What a wonderful place to relax with comfort and just a few steps from the beach. This time my husband and I got to see a wild pig in the backyard feeding one morning...actually quite exciting. We will be back, it's just the perfect place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Jeremi, Thank you so much, and I hope it keeps getting better and better each time you visit! Mahalo, Linda

Very nice place to stay. House was ideally located and perfectly equipped for our needs. We have already recommended the place to other potential visitors and hope to stay there again ourselves. The only (minor) issue was the noise from roosters and a bit from the street, but you'd find that just about anywhere you stay in Kauai.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is he second time, I rented the house, it is the perfect place especially when traveling with kids because of the shallow and safe Anini Beach. The house is very comfortable and is very well equipped with pretty much everything one needs. It truly is 100 steps from the beach!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The house was exactly as described. Nothing fancy, but clean and every needed item available to make you feel like a local. Easy access to local beaches and great beach for kids to frolic after a long day of play on the north shore. A bit noisy traffic at bed time, but that is the price of a good location. Perfect for an active family and I would stay here again. Bought fresh fish from Safeway and it was every bit as good and a lot cheaper than the Hanalea fish market - Had tasty fish tacos at the Kilua fish market. Grilled most nights, and had happy hour on the porch- perfect spot.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our five nights at Anini Kai were truly Paradise. Situated on a dead-end street on Kauai's north shore far from the usual tourist haunts, Linda's secret hideaway was the perfect spot for a quiet, relaxing respite from our usual pressure-cooker, eastcoast lifestyle. And yet, its proximity to other spectacular natural wonders makes it an ideal base for daily explorations. It's only minutes from the Kilauea Lighthouse and National Wildlife Refuge with thousands of Red-Footed Boobies, Red-Tailed Tropic Birds and Hawaiian Nene Geese nesting and wheeling above thundering ocean waves breaking against vertical, black lava cliffs. A few minutes drive in the other direction to the end of the road brings you to the Kalalau Valley Trailhead with breathtaking views of waterfalls and steep mountain cliffsides looking much like platoons of giants marching to the sea. Linda has thought of everything... Anini Kai is bright, airy, immaculate and comfortable. It comes equipped with every possible quality convenience imaginable, including very comfortable beds, modern LED flashlights in a kitchen drawer, nasal strips and earplugs in a bedroom drawer! Boogie boards, quality snorkels that don't leak water, and nice swimfins hang from mesh bags in the carport. Anini Beach, 2 minutes away on foot, is quiet, secluded and a beachcomber's delight! A small freshwater stream flows into the sea a few steps from the beach right-of-way. Kids could have a ball here, building bridges and dams in the stream. Small tropical fish inhabit the tidal pools on the east side of the beach, and edible opihi limpets can be found clinging to the black lava rocks... a true sign of the distinctly isolated character of Anini Beach, since these are highly prized by locals. We're looking forward to another stay at Anini Kai sometime in the future. Mahalo Linda for making our springtime visit to Kauai a priceless memory! Much Aloha Nui Loa, Ping, Sally and GeorgiaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
