WELCOME TO PARADISE! This luxury air-conditioned home with private pool on Playa Hermosa is a shell's toss away from some of the best surf in Costa Rica.
Our home has three spacious bedrooms (two rooms have one twin bed and one queen bed each, and the master suite has a king-sized bed) as well as two full baths, and has ceramic tile throughout. The kitchen is modern (remodeled in 2008) with gas stove, beautiful granite counters and stainless steel appliances.
Several charming restaurants and bars are a leisurely barefoot stroll in the soft sand to the north. To the south, wander down to the turtle rescue sanctuary. Along the way, you'll think you're on your own private beach, with a few surfers scattered about in the waves and maybe some horses along the way. The sunsets are breathtaking!
Playa Hermosa ("Beautiful Beach") is a world famous surfing beach situated just eight minutes south of the charming, bustling beach town of Jaco, which boasts hundreds of restaurants, shops, bars, casinos...you name it!
In Jaco, you can find just about anything you need and arrange to enjoy some of the endless Costa-Rican activities and adventures available. Or let our local guest manager set you up...she knows the best tour operators. She can also arrange maid service and help you throughout your stay.

Why the Owner Chose Jaco
We've been drawn to the ocean as long as we can remember...I think most people are. Our attraction to the sea began when we purchased and kept a 40 foot cabin cruiser in Fort Myers Beach, Florida back in the early to late 90's, and we've dreamt of retiring on the ocean ever since. Well, we finally got to retire, but our retirement cruiser, the "Dolphin", met an untimely death in the Atlantic gulfstream, so we decided to look for something built on dirt (or sand), instead. Fewer water leaks.
We ended up travelling a bit further south than Florida to find something warmer year-round on the ocean, and thankfully landed in Costa Rica, the "Little Switzerland", on the central Pacific Ocean in a beachhouse that we love. We know you will, too, and we'd like to share it with everyone. Our goal is for all of our guests to have a great vacation, and we'll certainly do our best to ensure that happens! Give us a call, and Pura Vida (roughly translated as "Life is Good", from Jack & Beth.
The Unique Benefits at this House
While we still love the southern USA, the Pacific Ocean off Costa Rica is ALWAYS warm, and so is the weather. You will never be cold on the central pacific coast of Costa Rica. And our private pool is always just right, too. It is partially shaded by palm trees for your lounging comfort in the sun or in the shade.
But, mostly, we love being on the quiet Playa Hermosa beach away from the crowds. And being one of the closest beaches to the San Jose airport. We also appreciate having our small, friendly, trustworthy onsite staff of gardeners/caretakers and night sentries who have been with us for years taking care of our gardens, pool, and our guests' needs.

Just got back from thanksgiving vacation at the barracuda- my whole family had an awesome time. The house was very clean n spacious. The owners provided excellent tips to make our stay as easy n smooth as possible. They were even available by email at any time. I only wish they would have provided more maid services bec we definately needed it w/ 8 people in the house. We were offered one complimentary, but could have used more. Besides that, we had a great time! !

We had a fantastic time at Casa Barracuda! What a treat it was when we finally drove up to the house (after a few hours on the road). What a beautiful spot. The property was great and the house is super modern and clean and spacious! We needed the space since we were a pretty big group. We used all of the bedrooms and even had our 12 year old camped out in the living room on an air mattress but we never felt crowded. The rooftop patio was perfect for early morning tea and some peace and quiet. I didn't mind sharing the spot with the iguanas who were sunning themselves on the roof. The view from the roof was terrific and the beach was so nice. What a luxury to be able to walk across the backyard and hit the sandy beach. We saw a few surfers each morning but other than that, we literally had the beach to ourselves while we were there. Beth and Jack provided a ton of information to us that was invaluable as we travelled around Costa Rica. Be sure to print all the emailed information before you head on your vacation...it really helped us out a lot. We loved, loved, loved the house and felt like the next time we went to Costa Rica, we could just book the house for a week and stay put! :-)

We had an amazing trip in Costa Rica and your house was perfect for us. The weather was great. We went down to Manual Antinio one day to the national rain forest, I took surf lessons, we went zip lining, deep sea fishing. We had a awesome time. I didn't want to leave. We all talked about buying the house and moving down there :) hehe big dreams. lol You where wonderful to work with. With all the information and recommendations you gave us it really made a difference in our trip. Thank you for everything!

Our trip to Costa Rica was wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay at Beth & Jack's house. It was clean, well maintained and in a good location. All of the pictures on the website are accurate. The pool was great and the beach and sunsets were awesome. Beth gave us all the right recommendations on food and overall shopping. If you plan on renting a car, I would recommend a GPS since the roads are not well marked.

We stayed at Beth & Jack's place for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years with our 3 sons. The place was awesome, the location was perfect as it was close to Jaco and many other attractions. Great place for surfing with the ocean front location. All the pictures on the website were very accurate and property was very well maintained. The pool was awesome. Beth & Jack answered all of our questions about Costa Rica and all the restaurants, car rental and tours they recommended were great. Judith(guest manager) was very helpful in organizing any tours we went on. Our sons(25, 23 & 22) had a great time, the nightlife in Jaco was good. This house made our first time in Costa Rica our best vacation and we would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

We stayed at this property for five days. The house was great and the view of the ocean was wonderful. It was a little hard to find the property given there are no street signs and if you don't speak Spanish, it may be a problem (especially if you don't have a car and take taxis). The owners were very gracious and prompt to all our questions given this was our first trip to Costa Rica. The on-site property managers were a wonderful resource as well. I would definitely consider returning and recommending it to anyone. Having our own private pool was a plus. The only negative I could mention was the trash on the beach.

This was our family's first time to Costa Rica! It was the perfect place to stay with a family or two families together. The home has security and is safe, quiet, and clean! We frequented the neighborhood restaurants and loved the Backyard Bar. Hermosa is a hot spot for professional surfers and it is a blast watching them right outside the back door. The house is a quick drive from downtown Jaco which is more metropolitan. We are so glad we stayed at Casa Barracuda and would recommend it to anyone who is planning a trip to Costa Rica! We hope to be back in the future~ PURA VIDA!

This home is everything and even more that the description says. The owners are very nice and made everything convienient for us. We stayed from May 19 thru 24, 2010 for a Charter Fishing Trip out of Los Suenos. The location of this home was Perfect for us. The ocean is right across the street, very nice Private Pool in the back yard, and we felt safe at this location. It was convienient for us to get to the Marina and Restraunts are within walking distance. We had such a great time we are going back and staying in this same house in March 2011. Thanks alot for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home.

My husband and I have stayed here 5 times now.....Casa Baracuda is Beautiful, Clean and Peaceful!!!!!!!.. The Pool is clear and refreshing. The location is PERFECT. Hermosa is very quiet, and beautiful. Jaco is less than 10 minutes away.....Great for night life. The price for the house is less than a "Decent" Hotel, and you have the luxuries of home. We will continue to visit Hermosa and stay at Casa Baracuda!!!!!!!!
