Aloha and Mahalo for visiting our site!
We recognize that these are hard economic times.
We are ordinary people, retired and very fortunate to own such a beautiful condo. In these tough times we feel it necessary to lower our rates, for your sake and ours. So take a look, we are extremely proud of our unit and the beautiful grounds of KONA ISLE. With these lowered prices we truly believe this is one of the best values on the Big Island. Guests who have stayed with us have loved the location, the cleanliness and the special attention to detail with which we have outfitted our unit. (Look at the 'Traveler Reviews ' section, the 'tab' is just above this section.)
Our small (74 unit) complex caters to those who would like to enjoy serenity, a sparkling clean HEATED pool to swim in, beach side BBQing using BBQs that are cleaned daily, awesome sunsets and yet close to the heart of the Kona vacation experience. I emphasize heated because it is important: most pools go unused in Hawaii. From our experience many visitors tour most of the day and tend to enjoy a relaxing swim in the early evening hours. There is nothing like the experience of lying back in a heated pool and looking up at the moon through palm trees! That is tranquility!
Using the lessons we have learned we focused on making the unit feel like home, not like some sterile hotel room without any character. Bright Hawaiian colors and all a guest might need for a great vacation: two coolers for that beach picnic, beach chairs and snorkel gear, some great Hawaiian CDs to enjoy while you are browsing through the many Hawaiian reference books, planning the next day's experiences, a really comfortable bed for a good night's sleep, and a Brita water filter system so your coffee in the morning will be as good as it should be!
We proudly offer it newly refurbished with a Hawaiian decor and all the amenities you should need for your vacation. We listen very carefully to our guests and make changes and improvements on our twice a year visit. In November of 2010 we had it professionally painted, updated the furniture in the living room, replaced the TV and DVD with state of the art units, did our annual towel and linen replacement, did our semi annual deep cleaning ... and much more. You are important to us... we are doing all we can to make your vacation a very special one.
Just added: FREE LONG DISTANCE CALLING to Canada and the US as well as secure wireless connectivity in the condo.
We take great pride in our unit. With 12 years experience of owning a condo in Hawaii, we believe we have found the perfect combination of all that Hawaii has to offer. It is important to us to provide a very clean, quiet on-the-ocean holiday experience.
Mahalo for visiting our site. May you enjoy your Hawaiian holiday where ever you choose to stay!

We had a wonderfully quiet retreat at Kona isle. The condo is set up perfectly and the beach-barbeque area is very welcoming. I will be recommending this condo to others on Saltspring Island. The whales put on quite a show as well.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

My husband and I just spent 12 nights at this Kona Isle condo! What an amazing time we had on Kona and this condo was a great place to see it all from. First of all, the condo was clean and everything worked (actually we had a problem with the wifi and called and it was fixed promptly). We certainly appreciated (and used) all the "extras" from beach towels, matts, snorkels, fins and we even tried boogie boarding! One of the features of the complex is BBQ's & picnic tables down at the beach - we enjoyed many an evening BBQ'ing. Thanks to Rod for his attention to detail! We will be back - we enjoyRecommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2-week stay in this unit. The location was fantastic (and very well situated for exploring the Big Island for the first time!) and the quiet, peaceful complex was a perfect place to relax when we weren't out exploring. We especially enjoyed the pool and waterfront area, where we spent most evenings lounging on the comfortable beach chairs while watching whales (we saw them most evenings) and enjoying fabulous sunsets. The condo was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with many things that made our vacation all that more enjoyable... from boogie boards and snorkeling equipment to coolers, ice packs, tupperware containers, a nice selection of books and movies, and many other details that we didn't expect but much appreciated. It is obvious that the owners care a lot about the comfort of their guests. Rod and Delana were very easy to deal with and helpful in all areas. Their detailed suggestions and helpful hints for guests contributed a great deal to making our vacation absolutely wonderful. We would highly recommend this unit to anyone -- especially those seeking peace & tranquility. For us, this place was perfect!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We stayed in the Condo for the week of the 2012 Ironman World Championships. Rod was so helpful when we were booking and organising our trip. We had never been to Hawaii before and were very unsure of what to do and where to stay. The instructions in relation to accessing the condo were excellent. No hassle and very easy to find. The Condo was very convenient for all the race week activities, plus it is right on the run course at the 2 mile marker. The property was clean and well maintained and had all that we needed. We utilised the snorkel gear to go snorkeling at some great spots south along the coast. We have an amzing experience with the race and our trip. The Swords were a key part in making our trip very memorable. Definitely recommend it to Ironman competitiors. Would love to get back there one year, if I can qualify again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I just spent 9 days in this wonderful condo. Everything was perfect and well thought out, from the coolers and beach chairs to the sewing and first aid kit. The location of the condo is within walking distance of the town of Kona, and the condo's sit right on the water so sunsets and bbq's on the beach are a close walk. We had a wonderful time on the island - this was our third trip. Rod and Delana also have a helpful sheet with many places to go and things to do. Thanks to their help, we found several new spots to venture to and places to eat. I can definitely say that this condo was the best we've stayed at in our three trips - the owners care about their home and their guests and it shows. The highlight of our trip was swimming with a few dozen dolphins at Honaunau Bay! We can't wait to get back and do it again - thank you Rod and Delana!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Linda and Will - we are so glad that you had such a perfect holiday and that we actually helped make it your best stay yet!! That is our goal, how nice it is to hear that we succeed! Thank you for saying "the owners care for their home and it shows!". We look forward to your return! Mahalo Rod and Delana

We had the best time ever. This condo offered all amenities necessary to make our vacation very comfortable and homey. We were told this place was paradise and that it was! The people were very helpful and friendly. We stayed 2 weeks but wish we had more time. Lots to do and see. We would recommend this condo to anyone who is planning a trip to The Big Island. We hope to return one day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Kona Isle and would eagerly embrace the prospect of another visit. Our condo welcomed us the moment we stepped in. It had everything required to enhance a vacation in paradise:- beach chairs, towels, snorkelling equipment, cooler, picnic supplies. The unit itself was very cozy and offered a panoramic ocean view with the relaxing sound of the unrelenting surf. Each morning began with a refreshing dip in the pool and then some time to soak up a few rays before heading out for the day. The "Big Island" has so much to see and the quide books provided were always with us as we toured the island from east to west and north to south. The most difficult part of our vacation was packing up and leaving. Thankyou for allowing us to enjoy your tranquil, tropical get-away. This condo and Kona Isle are so great that after three years we are buying here. Some lucky persons are going to enjoy the winter months here that will now be available. The housekeeping has always been top rate. If you return, Rod will ask if you need anything extra. The owners have thought of everything you could need or want. Each third Sun. there is hula and music at Hulihehe Palace and last Sat. of month at Keauhou shopping center there is Hawaiian music with entry being 2 cans of food. Of course, there are chairs in unit for you to take. .Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Joyce - it has been such a pleasure to have you as guests for four months every year for the past three years. Now you have joined us as owners! You were great guests and we really appreciated your suggestions to make our unit a better place to stay! We wish you both years of happiness in your new unit :-) :-)

(This was a family reunion in three units) “ Of the 3, my favorite was B22 (VRBO 64072), it was absolutely perfect. Overall, we were amazed at how carefully you prepared for our every need. We BBQ’d at the beach area 4 of the 7 nights. The decor in B22 was really lovely. All three were perfect for our needs and we've already recommended them to our friends. We had great snorkeling. Our vacation was PERFECT! We all definitely want to go back again. I can't thank you enough, JuneDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Sword's condo at Kona Isle! It's beautifully decorated and very clean. We made good use of the snorkel equipment (at Two Step and Kahulu'u, some of the best we've ever seen!), and the coolers and well-stocked kitchen. The CD's and DVD's were a nice addition. Sitting out on the lanai was very restful, and quiet. We made good use of the barbeque area, and enjoyed watching the sunset and dolphins from the beach area. The reservation process and check-in was simple, and Rod Sword was very helpful. Kona Isle is truly a well-kept secret, the grounds are beautiful, and it's a very convenient location. One suggestion, guide books were provided, but I missed a copy of "Hawaii The Big Island Revealed". I left mine at home to save space in my carry on, and I find it exceptionally useful. We recommend visiting Hula Daddy Kona Coffe in Holualoa, for a private tour and coffee tasting, delicious! Overall, we had a wonderful time, and hope to visit again soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Jim and Crystal - it is nice to know that you enjoyed our "well kept secret". We are very pleased that you felt it worthwhile to comment on the cleanliness, almost 50% of those writing a review comment on that issue. We feel it is so very important - we are very pleased with our cleaning service and will pass on your comments. Also - we have placed a copy of the current edition of "Hawaii - The Big Island Revealed" in the unit. We agree - it is the best guide book on the Island. Mahalo - see you next year! Rod and Delana

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: We fell in love with Hawaii in the 1990's, when Delana worked part time nursing on Kauai. With vacation rentals so very expensive we felt forced to buy a little condo. It proved to be a wonderful decision! In 2005 we decided that Kona would be a better place for us: it has the least rainfall in the state. In purchasing, furnishing and decorating our Kona Isle condo, we wanted it to become a tranquil retreat, with as many of the comforts of home as was possible. We seem to have arrived at the right combination, we have had some guests return three and four times with two actually on their fifth and seventh stays!! Mahalo, Rod and Delana
Why the Owner Chose Kona Isle:
Kona boasts the least rainfall in the state!
There is so much to see and do: from volcanoes to lava heated pools. You can circumnavigate the Island in just over 4 hours including a picnic on a beach near Hilo, the midway point!
The Big Island has it all and the true Aloha spirit prevails.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Because Kona Isle is a small 'boutique' 74 unit development with only one bedroom units, neither the pool or BBQ areas are crowded. The BBQ and pool are situated beside the water rather than between the buildings. The result: it is particularly appealing to those who want a quiet and restful holiday. A nightly feature is to BBQ (so close to the water that sometimes you can feel the spray) and then enjoy dining RIGHT AT THE WATER'S EDGE!
