My husband and I have stayed in many accommodations in the US and British VI, and Island Dream is far and away the most romantic, picture-perfect location we've found. The Caribbean colors inside and out, the light and airy rooms, actual artwork on the walls, the many decks, the lush landscaping, all made for a totally relaxing stay in a beautiful environment. The house and grounds were impeccably maintained, and the views were fabulous from sunup to sundown. The stars at night were amazing - we even saw some shooting stars! Loved the isolation and quiet. And if you just can't unplug, there's even a great, fast Wifi connection. 5 stars & 2 thumbs up!

July 19-29 2011 Beautiful home Beautiful island. The views from anywhere in/around the house were perfect. I loved awakening to the view of the silvery water, sitting on the lanai w coffee, listening to the surf and watching the boats sail by. I so much loved being at the house that we didn’t spend extended time away. We enjoyed the pool from 3 on for Happy Hour..Great blender!!The landscaping-gardens—are very nice. The grouping of palms (seen through master bedroom windows)is fantastic! nice pl

This is an incredibly beautiful cottage on VG. My husband and I had a very relaxing and peaceful ten days. It was perfect for the two of us---very, very private. The pictures on-line are accurate, but there is so much more there that is wonderful that the pictures do not show, such as the beautiful gardens and vegetation---fruit trees (such as mango, banana, lime, and papaya), beautiful palm trees and flowers---the fabulous stairway going up to the bedrooms (there is a skylight in this area), a very nice collection of books (I loved the cookbooks and we enjoyed the books on VG and the sea life there), and the artwork is divine. The new deck is perfectly situated, perfect for cocktails at sunset (I don't think there is a picture online of this feature). This property is very well maintained and clean. Even though Mary suggested we take vitamin B1 10 days before arrival and during our stay to ward off the amount of mosquito bites, this did not work for me. I have since heard that a dryer sheet in your pocket will ward off the buggers, so now I must return and try this out! ha ha!! That was the only thing I did not like. We found the dirt road to the cottage to be fun to navigate (we used a 4 wheel drive Suzuki) and it wasn't that bad or steep at all! Getting to Leverick Bay is steep!!! Howard says it will be paved in Oct., so there goes that bit of fun. The beaches are unspoiled, the air on VG is so fresh and fragrant, the mountains have not been cut into with villas---YET!!(like on ST. John), and the people of VG have genuine smiles on their faces and appear to be happy, unlike some of the people on other VI. That was most refreshing. It was so easy for us to get around and go places. The discovery of fresh, ground nutmeg on the top of a pina colada was a big treat! Thank you, Mary, for having some wonderful nutmeg available and a great mixer to make our daily pina coladas---our happy hour drink poolside or on the lanai. We enjoyed our trip to Saba Rock and had fabulous burgers there for lunch. Mostly, we enjoyed hanging out on the lanai in the morning with our coffee, and watching Sir Drake Channel come alive with boats. We enjoyed watching the rain come ashore. Shoot, we just enjoyed being able to experience rain. We enjoyed happy hour by the pool and watching the day change into night. The pool water was always a refreshing temp., never too cool or too warm. A million thanks to the owners and to Howard and Irma.

VG is such an amazing place! We loved it. The house was complete paradise! The description of the house is wrong. The house has 2 bathrooms. We loved the house, and the view was truly amazing. We also thouht this was the best part of the island. The only down side was that the driveway was ridiculously long and bumpy and although the house sits on the same property as the nail bay beach club, you can't really walk there from the house. We tried to call a cab to get us one night for dinner but they didn't have 4 wheel drive and got stuck in the drive way. The next day, we were the talk of the entire island! but, don't let that deter you from the house. It really is perfect.
Owner response:(July 25 2011)A NEW PAVED ROAD WILL BE FINISHED THIS YEAR!!What the above renter called our driveway is a road over which we have no control. But we just got notified yesterday that the road will be paved, probably in October! Our driveway is paved and in good condition.GREAT NEWS!

March 17 2011 …Island Dream is paradise! We so loved the seclusion and view that Nail Bay offers. Your landscaping is fantastic and a wonderful sanctuary for so many creatures. .. All the beaches are splendid but Nail Bay beach has great shells .. the most beautiful waters on earth!..Irma and Howard were very accommodating and checked to see if we needed anything. We really loved Island Dream and Howard & Irma. We got to meet Irma and they were great people to deal with and so nice!! What a beautiful house you have and the pictures online do not do it justice…in my eyes anyway. The views and the layout of the house are GREAT! It was amazing how easy the house cooled once we got back from the day…and the pool was a wonderful way to end the day to cool off even more. I even got used to driving the street and up the driveway. It was so much fun every day. However, I am sure glad they paved Nail Bay Road. Not sure how that would have been to drive that every day?

Iam copying this from an e-mail. Our guests have a hard time figuring out how to get into the guest book: This was dated July 8: Hi Mary, We loved your home on VG and especially loved discovering all the best the BVI has to offer. After many vacation in the Pacific (Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia) we decided to travel east this year. What a great decision it turned out to be. The BVI is gorgeous, and definitely staying in your home was the highlight of our trip. We loved snorkeling in the morning and then coming home to the pool and rum-based blender drinks. The kitchen was great. I told Keith "I can do dishes here forever". That view! Wow. Thanks again for connecting us with Howard. He was wonderfully helpful. We ended up taking an earlier ferry from Tortola and arrived in Spanish Town a few hours ahead of the agreed time, but Howard somehow connected with someone we were chatting with on the dock and within 5 mins of our arrival, Howard had our car arranged and escorted us to the house so we could drop off our luggage and get lunch. The housekeeping service was impeccable. Fresh flowers, clean linens and sweet smelling towels made everything that much more special. We look forward to our return to Virgin Gorda. We will no doubt return to your home again. Thanks for all your suggestions and helpful tips. We took advantage of everything you mentioned.

This is from their letter to me dated July 5: Hi Mary! Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your wonderful villa in VG last month. It was just perfect! Next time we will stay longer, but it will never be enough -- The extra day we stayed at Mango Bay made up appreciate how much COOLER your hillside location was -- we didn't have to turn on the air conditioning at all at Island Dream but we needed it on all the time at beach level. You named the place just right! Mirtha and Joe

Island Dream is exactly as described on the listing and as its name suggest. It is an excellent choice for just about anyone but specially for honeymooners and other couples---the total privacy, along with wonderful views, is this villa's greatest asset. And having your own perfect private pool for those late night dips puts the icing on the cake! Listening to Bob Marley while sitting on the porch watching another beautiful sunset as boats sail by, sipping coconut rum (or a beer!)---Priceless!

Just as many have already mentioned previously, we REALLY enjoyed the views, privacy, and overall charm of Island Dreams Villa, as well as the whole island of Virgin Gorda. The total privacy of the villa really adds to the relaxation and adventure of the trip. Additionally, the local villa manager, Howard, was very helpful meeting us at the airport, getting us coordinated with Mahogany Car Rentals, then settled at Island Dreams, and finally having our provisions all ready at the villa after a long day of travel from Denver...all very much appreciated. We've been fortunate to travel to quite a few islands in the Caribbean and numerous times to Mexico, and on the way home from vacations, we always debate our own personal "Top 3 Vacations List"...and this vacation made it in all of our Top 3 Lists!

We stayed at your house in February of 09. What a delightful place. The house had everything we needed and the view all around was spectacular. The best part of our stay was the complete privacy. We never heard a single car or people noise of any kind during our stay. Virgin Gorda is simply heaven and we plan to return many times.

My husband, son, daughter-in-law and I recently stayed at Island Dream from February 16-23, 2009. We absolutely loved this villa! The seclusion and beauty of the property exceeded all expectations! Although the road to Nail Bay and ID is bumpy with potholes, we never had to put our rental into 4-wheel drive. The panoramic views of the ocean, the Dogs, and Long Bay are breathtaking, the privacy incredible and the house itself is so comfortable. If one needs to stay in touch with the rest of the world, the wifi worked perfectly! Island Dream truly feels like an authentic Caribbean beach house for people in search of real R & R. It was hard to leave here to visit the rest of this beautiful island, and when we returned, we all agreed "there's no place like home" (our home for the week anyway). The only thing we'll do differently next time will be to stay much longer! The Ferguson's, Rochester, MA

This was in our guest book here at Island Dream when we returned from a trip on Jan 9 '09:"..we love your house,pool,beaches,island....We had great meals out...but the best were on your porch with the sound of the waves below and moon above." The A's ( if you want to know their names, e-mail me and I can write and ask them if they would submit what they wrote in our guest book in the villa to this Vrbo on-line "book".

Spectacular view is an understatement. Plus, the panorama changes with the weather, the sun' s trip across the sky and the sailboats that quietly slip across the sea between the islands. The frequent tropical breezes truly do feel like a caress. And the comforting songs of the wildlife top off nature's gentle contributions to a relaxing time on the lanai. Just the enjoyment of sitting still and soaking it all in is enough value to justify a stay at this comfortably designed villa. If the call of physical movement beckons, there are good opportunities for great snorkeling, hiking, exploring by car. The belongers (families on the island for generations) are welcoming. I love the co-mingling of people from all over the world who have found at least a part-time home in this paradise. A friend who stayed here before we did refused to show me his pictures, because he wanted me to discover Virgin Gorda's joys on my own. Now that I've been there, I understand why he did so. I guess I've already said too much.

As other writers have mentioned, Island Dream is the vacation getaway its name implies. Breathtaking views, tropical seclusion, and amenities that make this villa both comfortable and relaxing, allow for a special, unforgettable experience. My wife and I stayed here in the fall of 08 and explored Virgin Gorda for six days. There were many special moments but two of my favorite activities were snorkeling the various coral reefs and hiking up the dirt road to see Necker, Mosquito, and Prickly Pear Islands and the North Sound from atop Gorda Peak. Despite the interesting historical and visually pleasing places to see on the island, our favorite spot was the view of Nail Bay from the decks and pool of Island Dream. Thanks for opening your home for others to share. The island and your residence are truly magical.

My husband and I staid at the house for week June 3-10, 2008. It was the most wonderful experience. If you like to explore, you will be conveniently located in the middle of everything. Best beech, best snorkeling, best view. We loved having a pool to come home to. we felt like we never left the water. Make sure to go to Little Dix Bay Monday night seafood buffet. The best I ever had. Well worth the money.

Our family of four spent a week at Island Dream in May, 2007. I actually hesitate to write this comment here because truly I'd rather keep Island Dream and Virgin Gorda a secret. !!! But I will write this because I almost feel selfish hoarding this place just to ourselves! We are well travelled and have spent several vacations in the Caribbean. This year we were looking for an adventurous vacation, off the beaten path, but with all the luxuries of a grand tropical Caribbean escape. We also needed to find a place where we'd feel comfortable travelling with our twin three year old boys. We found it! Island Dream was PERFECT. The villa is absolutely adorable. The private pool is lovely. The views are breathtaking. The place is absolutely private yet has every amenity you'd ever want. The villa is in the Nail Bay Resort so in addition to total seclusion you also have the option of everything the resort offers -- a beautiful pool, bar, restaurant, etc. Three SPECTACULAR beaches are a very short drive/walk away. Virgin Gorda is DIVINE... HEAVEN ON EARTH. Incredible adventures await you every day. The most difficult challenge is figuring out which beach to go to each day and which place to eat dinner at each night. Truly, this place is divine. Virgin Gorda is definately now our favorite vacation destination. And we honestly believe that Island Dream is the best spot on the island. Heather & Braydon and twin sons Kyle & Owen

Our first surprise was the vast collection of spices in the kitchen! We bbq’d, lounged, swam in the pool, and “rested” quite a bit. My mom especially enjoyed swimming in the private pool. The choice of Egyptian cotton towels was nice as it was my first time using them. The abundant balcony space allowed us to dry our clothes and also allowed us a place to sit as well. The privacy (not being able to see any other houses or hear any noise from neighboring houses) was definitely a plus! Convenience of snorkeling sites also made traveling easy. The best and most pleasant place to rest (in our opinion) was inside Island Dream Villa. We recommend taking advantage of the villa’s comforts as much as possible. Hi Mary, I wanted to let you know what a wonderful vacation we had at your lovely Island Dream. It was everything we expected and more. The house is lovely and well thought out, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The pool was great to float around in in the afternoon. We enjoyed that very much. The views, of course, are the icing on the cake! I am sending along a few of our pictures for you to enjoy. The second picture is the fabulous view from the front porch. The last two are the reason we went back to Virgin Gorda to begin with. Total peace, tranquility, beauty and quiet. We had every beach to ourselves, every day! We loved being there in September, and the weather was great. The last night we were there we enjoyed dinner at the house cooked by our chef, Simone, for our 27th anniversary. It was fantastic! Such a great way to cele! brate all of our years together and our last night in paradise. Thanks again, K. Cefaloni

I never really noticed this "guestbook" page until now (May 30'06). I have three books of hand-written appreciations at the Villa. When I go there again, I will copy some of them and place them in here. All I can say for now is that since no one is there forcing people to write, that so many of them do so, is a tribute to how much they love Island Dream. Almost all of them remark on the spesctacular view. Many seem to like hanging around the pool, especially because it is so private, as well as they enjoy swimming and snorkeling at the nearby beaches. Lots comment on how comfortably "like a real home" and well equipped Island Dream is. A few have called it "darling"!
