Our stay at this very clean little apartment was wonderful. Very close to the beach and everything we needed was provided by Larry and Martha. Larry printed out maps for us and helped guide us around the triathlon in the park. I would recomend anyone going to San Diego stay here. In fact I plan on telling all my friends and co-workers about how nice our stay here was.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I rented this adorable apartment for four months while finishing up my school studies. I enjoyed my time here and it was the perfect home-away-from-home. It is very cozy and nicely furnished and had everything I needed. It is just a few steps away from the beach, on a quaint street, and was fabulous to have a parking spot, as Mission Beach lacks adequate parking. Larry and Martha were gracious hosts and very accommodating. Even if you are looking to rent for a quick weekend trip, this place is ideal.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed here for a week with our two small boys. We had a great time. The location was great with access to bay side and ocean side beaches with a very short walk, as well as San Diego and its surrounding areas. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Larry and Martha were fantastic hosts-very kind and helpful. We would love to come back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect, it was a block from the beach on the oceanside and only a few blocks from the bay. Close to Belmont Park but far enough to be away from the crowd and noise. The apartment was nice and clean with a parking spot which is a huge plus. We rode our bikes everywhere which was nice. Hope to return again next year. Larry and Martha were very accomodating. PS. Yes they got the Gold!Recommended for: Families with young children.

My fiance and I stayed at this very nicely furnished apartment and had a wonderful time. It was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities one could hope for. Bikes, chairs, boogie boards and towels were all provided. Even a cooler to take to the beach! We barbequed on our private deck and just enjoyed the ocean air. The owners, Martha and Larry, could not have been friendlier. They suggested great breakfast places within walking distance and even gave us a coupon for 1/2 off. We will definitely stay here again the next time we travel to San Diego.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

As owners of this property, we were aghast that our guests from Alpine did not enjoy their stay in our apartment. We wish they had expressed their concerns while they were staying in our apartment but the first we found out about their disappointing vacation was when they posted their complaints here. Our new next-door neighbors did undertake extensive refurbishing projects on their house when they moved in. Windows needed to be replaced, roof and skylights needed repair and the structure needed a new paint job. The house is a large, three-story structure and scaffolding was needed to complete the projects and did encroach on our property. Unfortunately, the project took longer than anticipated and a few of our renters were inconvenienced but we didn't receive any complaints and most of our renters said the construction did not impact their vacation in the least. Our new neighbors are a lovely, retired couple who live in the house year round and have completed all exterior refubishing to their house and we do not anticipate any further major construction in our vincinity. We hope potential renters will read past this first review and spend some time reading the reviews from other renters (most of which are repeat guests year after year). We have been renting our apartment since 2005 and have never received a complaint. We pride ourselves on maintaining a quality property and doing everything possible to ensure our guests have an enjoyable vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

First let me say that Larry and Martha are delightful people. We booked thier apt. last minute in an effort for our family to destress after having just been through a wildfire and evacuation where we live in AZ. When we arrived to find we would be staying in a construction zone we were not pleased. The scaffolding we had to manuever made it a challenge to even get to our apt. The apt was clean and cute, but the planes that flew overhead from 6am to 11pm and the constant pounding and cell phone conversations of the construction workers made the daily naps we had invisioned, impossible. There was also the 3 am comotion of someone coming home and chatting outside our window several nights while we were there that made a good nights sleep non-existent. We often fled to the beach just for some peace. The WI-FI was also out for several days, adding to our stress since there were class assignment to be turned in via the internet. Rather than just asking the neighbor impeding on our vacation with his construction for a password to his WIFI, we were required to hike several blocks to a cafe, buy a drink, and use theirs-which may or may not be working. The outdoor space of the apt shown in the photos was not pleasant. It is on the alley not the courtyard so you get to look at garbage cans and cars, rather than the cute quiet courtyard. Overall our stay in the apt was stressful and not very pleasant, thankfully the beach and the boardwalk was. We realize that Larry and Martha did not have control over many of the unpleasent things we encountered, however we felt that we should have been informed that we were paying prime season rates to stay in a construction zone so that we could have selected another location. We were left feeling stressed and a little ripped off, rather than relaxed and joyful as we had envisoned- and was so badly needed for our family.Did you find this review helpful? We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of this little beach apartment in Mission Beach. The front room contains the fold-out couch, an HD TV with cable, Internet, and a DVD player. There are many helpful guides on what to do in Mission Beach and San Diego. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, and even some cooking material. There is a dishwasher, coffee maker, and microwave, as well as the basics - fridge & stove. The granite countertops are a nice touch. We cooked dinner for about 5 nights in a 7 night stay, so this worked out well. The bathroom appears to have be refurbished lately, and is nice. The bedroom has a decent size closet to store our clothes, and contains a double-bed. The deck is small, but nice to sit outside, although there is not much of a view. However, the Sea World fireworks every night at 10pm are clearly visible from the deck, so every night, we enjoyed the firework show from the comfort of our rental unit. There is a parking spot which is absolutely essential in any portion of Mission Beach. Without one, you will most likely have to walk pretty far to get your car. The location is a few blocks south of the Roller Coaster, and provides enough separation from the crowds in that area, but is close enough to walk to that area. The location South of the Roller Coaster also means that there is lighter traffic that you would get if the location was between Pacific and Mission Beach, almost none. Plus, the property is located on the beach side of Mission Blvd, so you are very close to the beach. The Beachcomber and the Pennant are a few blocks away, as well as some small grocery stores. For a big grocery store, you have to drive up to Pacific Beach to Ralph's, but the nice thing is that the owners provide a loyalty card to get the discounts. Overall, a very enjoyable stay, a well-kept property, and good location for a relaxing beach vacation. The owners, Larry & Martha, are very friendly and welcoming, and have provided for all of our needs. We hope to stay again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at this rental for a four night, San Diego beach getaway this past May. The apartment is located within close and convenient walking distance to Mission Beach on the ocean side and Mission Bay on the bay side. We especially enjoyed taking advantage of the boogie boards included with the rental to head out into the surf. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in Mission Beach that are close by the apartment, either on foot or by a very short drive, plus Sea World and Belmont Park are right nearby. The apartment was clean, attractive, and well taken care of, and the owners were helpful with anything that was needed. I could definitely recommend a stay here to enjoy Mission Beach and San Diego.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This 1 bedroom apartment was absolutely adorable! I couldn't have been more pleased! It was well kept, very clean, and 100 times better than staying in a hotel room (full kitchen!). The beach was within walking distance, only 1-2 minutes walk and shopping & dining were only a quick bike ride away. Towels (even beach towels!) and beach toys were provided for us as well as a parking spot. I will absolutely recommend this place for a relaxing beach getaway... It is so nice to have found a place that we can count on for a comfy beach vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
