HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

Guest: Lois (Vernon, NJ)
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 07/26/11

The water filtration system was not working and the owner knew about this prior to our arrival, but did not inform us. We endured days using unfiltered water causing discolored hair, nails, skin rashes, diarrhea, and hard boiled eggs which turned orange. We spoke with the owner who apologized, as she could not get anyone to repair it before Wed. We were upset that we were NOT informed prior and asked for financial compensation which she denied. We left the cottage to stay elsewhere. Needless to say, we were upset with the water quality which may have also been a health hazard and the with the way the the owner handled the situation! We would not recommend this rental to ANYONE.

Owner response:In response to my water filtration system not working per the renters statement. I send out letters to all my renters prior to their reserved time at my cottage, which specifically states to call me immediately if there are any problems. The renters arrived on Saturday and did not contact me until Tuesday at 5:58 p.m. to inform me about the condition of the water filter system - when the filtration company was closed for the day for business. I called and left a message immediately with the answering service to take care of the problem ASAP, and was assured in the morning they would address it. I received a voice mail from the renters on Wednesday morning around 10 am, informing me that they were heading home. That afternoon the filtration person came and replaced customer provided cartridge filter, added softener mate to the brine tank and flushed and cleaned system. I contacted the renters to let them know that I immediately took care of the problem once they contacted me and I provided the company name, phone number and the filtration technicians name so they could speak to the company's filtration technician directly and gain an understanding of the filtration system in that it was not broken as they thought, but the system sometimes requires tweeking, which is typical of filtration systems. I have apologized and I do apologize again, but I have met my landlord/tenant responsibility, in that once I was made aware of the problem I immediatly contacted the appropriate people who resolved the issue. Respectfully submitted, Landlord Liz

Eastham Cottage

My husband and I just returned from a week's stay at this cottage. It was delightful. The location is quiet and peaceful and central to all of the other towns that we love to visit: Wellfleet, P-Town, and Chatham. We also became acqainted with Brewster which we found to be full of great antique shops! We took our two dogs: a Golden Retriever and a Sheltie. We all fit perfectly and the dogs were right at home. The cottage was clean, well equipped, comfortable, and quaint. Liz (the owner) was thorough in supplying us with any and all details regarding the workings of the cottage and gave us lots of ideas regarding things to do while on the Cape. I'd highly recommend this property to anyone interested in a quiet, waterfront location!

Great Location-Average House

Guest: RLG (Chapel Hill, NC)
Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 07/12/10

We stayed at this cottage the last week of June 2010. It is not easy to find. It's a good loaction for the Cape Cod Institute; about 4 miles away. If you have a canoe or kayak, it is a great place as it right on the Cove with very easy access and is fairly, not entirely, quiet from traffic on Route 6. The best part of the house was the fantastic view from the kitchen; tall grass with the water in the background. The house is maybe 400 square feet. It feels cramped and we were only two people. The house water is full of iron, which may not be that unusual in that area, but it smells and made our white washcloth orange. If you have any skin sensitivities, the water will irritate you. The double bed in the bedroom is soft, which was uncomfortable for us, coupled with a creaky frame made for a less than ideal sleeping experience. The kitchen has a lovely new 4 burner stove, but candidly, there is very little counter space and the kitchen is not user-friendly. There is one AC window unit, so if you go in hotter months, expect to be hot in the house. The small outdoor deck is nice, and the house is in a horsehoe complex so there is very limited privacy. We also thought the price was a bit high for such a small place. We would not stay here again.

Owner response:As they say a picture says a thousand words. Please review our pictures that are posted on VRBO. Also please review previous complimentarry comments from those who have rented from us. We have never had a disgrunteled renter before. Unfortunate, there is always one person you can not please. As you can see by her comments nothing pleased her and I think this is just her nature by what I can gather. Oh Well.

Perfect Weekend

Guest: MASJ (Western MA)
Date of Stay: 05/28/10 Review Submitted: 06/12/10

We enjoyed this cute cottage over Memorial Day weekend. The kids loved the beach and dock and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the serene setting. Red-winged black birds were one of the many interesting birds we enjoyed watching. This was such a great cottage. We would definitely return and suggest the rental to our friends and family.

wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had. Your cottage was the perfect retreat for my family. My husband and kids both said that the location was so much better than they expected as far as the proximity to the water and the fishing. I loved waking up and relaxing on the deck in the morning. Most of the time I would stay until the afternoon being so content I really did not have to venture out anywhere else

A delightful cottage in a great location. You can have morning coffee in bed or outside and view the cove in both. Near good restaurants, art galleries, ocean swimming, trails for biking or walking. Quick access to Ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Easy access to either end of the Cape. A charming place for relaxating or active vacation.
