This is a great deal for the location. You are right across the street from one of the best all-purpose beaches on the island - great snorkeling, great boogie boarding, and even calm areas perfect for swimming with small kids. Between that and the pool, we almost didn't need to drive anywhere at all. The condo is very thoughtfully equipped with everything you need to have fun at the beach: beach towels, big coolers (one with wheels!), small coolers, chairs, toys, boogie boards, pool noodles, mats, even a few sets of snorkels, masks and fins. This particular unit is right near the entrance to the complex, making it especially convenient to dash across the street to the beach for a quick swim or snorkel. One of the complex's two pools is also just below this unit; so close, in fact, that you can step out on the lanai and call down to the kids in the pool to let them know it's time for dinner. While you can see the sunset from the lanai, the view is best from the lawn, where you can also participate in a nightly conch-blowing ceremony (look for the unit's conch on the shelf above the TV) that is really fun for all ages. The grounds, including the pools and barbecue areas, are immaculately kept. The unit itself is not super luxurious and shows a few signs of wear, but the beds are comfortable and any issues (light bulb out, etc) we had were very quickly addressed by the property staff. They have a fun selection of videos and games for kids and adults and even a huge box of Lincoln Logs. The kitchen is small but pretty well equipped for a vacation rental, with lots of pots and pans and serving bowls and dishes. The dining table only seats four, however, so with a larger group you have to split up or eat in shifts. We literally ate out only once in a two week stay. Prospective renters should be aware that while there are window a/c units in the bedrooms, it is not permitted to run them after 10 pm. A couple of nights it stayed quite warm overnight upstairs, especially in the loft, where there is no ceiling fan. The owners were very helpful and responsive as we were planning our stay. I would stay here again in a minute (though my husband would rather hold out for someplace with a/c you can run at night). It really was the perfect location for a family with small kids such as ours.
Owner response:Response: Thank you for such a positive and detailed review. We always appreciate such comments. And we appreciate guests who follow the association rules on not running the air conditioners at night. We much prefer the ocean breezes to air conditioning at night. When there are more than four staying in the condo we typically have some eat at the lanai table and some at the dining room. In fact, when a smaller group we rarely eat inside. One item needs correction: There IS a ceiling in the loft, one of four in the condo.

This condo was everything I expected. It was clean, well stocked and perfect for our needs. The location is excellent with everything in south Kihei within easy walking distance and the Kamaole III beach park across the street. I've stayed in the Hale Kamaole complex three times and I've never been disappointed! I keep coming back and I can't recommend it enough.

The condo is clean, well appointed and spacious! All the toys you can think of. Board games were a plus! So were the numerous DVDs. Image siting out on the lanai, watching the sun greet the day, with a hot fresh brewed cup of coffee made in your own condo. I can't thank Dennis and Janet enough for sharing their wonderful home with us
Owner response:We're happy when guests enjoy all the goodies we put in the condo. We try to include the extras that make it a special vacation.

This was our second visit toKiehi and the Hale Kamaole. We love the location. The condo was very homey, clean, comfortable. Any concerns we had were dealt with immediately. The photos/description is very accurate so no surprises!!! Lots to do in the area and all over the island. We rented a car and did as much as we wanted, when we wanted. Lots of restaurants/shops in walking distance as well. Our two and half weeks were perfect in every way. We highly recommend this rental. We hope to be able to come back again soon.

We've stayed at this location before but on ground floor. This unit is large and has all you can possibly need. The pictures are exact. I would recommend this unit to anyone needing 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. Hopefully we will return SOON. Mahalo
Owner response:Ground floor units at Hale Kamaole are all one bedroom units. Two bedroom units, and two bedroom with loft units, are all on the second and third floors.

This was our visit to Maui and quick access to the clean beach. Bug Free. It was fully stock with the necessary accessories like in most homes. It was great to be centralized for all of the tours we went on. Excellent place to stay for two weeks and glad we did.

Our family had a great vacation in Maui in October 2009. The condo has many extras that made our stay very enjoyable. There are sand chairs, umbrellas, snorkles, flippers, and coolers that made it so easy to take day trips. The location is great for long walks at the beach or short walks to restaurants and coffee. The BBQ pit and pool areas were great places to meet people. And the evening ceremonies made the sunsets all the more enjoyable. We hope to return again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great. There is a fun beach for boogie boarding across the street. It is also very central to most of the Island. We enjoyed the accomodations and the comfortable furniture where you can put your feet up. The central barbeque pits was a great way to meet fellow vacationers.

This was our 3rd trip to Maui first in Hale Kamaole. We are a family of five who like lots of room and this condo was perfectly laid out with plenty of sleeping space for all. The condo was also very well appointed with everything you could need for cooking (including spices, foil, zip locsetc). On the deck was a closet full of every beach toy you can imagine and ehough for our entire family. We were right across the road from a large green space which was a great place to fly kites, watch the sunset and run around with kids. Hale kamaole is conveniently situated close to many great beaches. If you were "beached out" the pool and the grounds were great places to just relax. The owners Janet and Dennis were just great to deal with. We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at Hale Kamaole 307 for the month of February 2009. This was out third trip to Maui but our first at Hale Kamaole. The location is hard to beat. This is based first on the location on Maui. Hale Kamaole seems close to everything. Walk to the beach or take short drives to other sites on the island. Secondly, unit 307 is well located within the Hale Kamaole complex. It’s close to the beach but far enough from the road to avoid traffic noise. From the Lanai we watched activities in Kamaole Park as well as the whales spouting offshore and of course the sunsets were beautiful. An extra dimension seems to be the people we encountered. Nightly there’s a conch shell salute by the owners to the passing day and then camaraderie around the barbeque grill. We felt like we fit in and were not just tourists.Unit 307 was well equipped with cooking equipment. There was nothing we needed to prepare meals. A welcome surprise was a few essentials (coffee, sugar and so on) to get us started on day one after a full day of travel. We appreciated the floor plan. We were 2 retired couples who have been on vacations together for years. Even so, in a whole month any rooms can get a little close. In this case the split-level arrangement provided plenty of privacy for all of us. The living & dining areas were plenty big enough. To summarize, Hale Kamaole #307 was everything the web site claimed to be and to us even more.I can’t finish without saying that Janet and Dennis were great to work with. They were friendly and efficient in helping to make our reservation. They also called to make sure we were doing OK. That was a nice touch that we appreciated. We’ll definitely consider a return visit.

Beautiful, well-maintained condo, with everything you need for a great holiday. The owners were more than helpful, prompt with replies, and gave us some very good tips re things to do and see. Check out the condo guest book - more good tips. The Lincoln logs were a great hit with our seven year old grandson. The library in the suite had lots of good books...what more could you ask? Sand toys, snorkling gear, the list is endless. We felt right at home. "Hale Kamaole 307" is very special.

There were six adults at Hale Kamole 307 in October, 2008 for my son's wedding. We all arrived from different parts of the US on the 15th, wedding on Sunday, so we all had time to do what we wanted to do. Fantastic. Our 'Home' during this stay was wonderful, close to everything. Can walk to almost everything. The people in the office were very helpful as well. Thank you very much.

Stayed in Hale Kam 307 Aug.10-17, 2008. It was our first time renting a condo, and we were a little nervous. We had heard some horror stories. Upon arriving, we quickly saw there was nothing to worry about. The grounds were gorgeous, office staff very helpful, and our unit was perfect. The teenage girls shared the downstairs bedroom, our son had the loft to himself, and the first thing he did was bring out the lincoln logs. Very spacious, lots of room to stretch out after an exhausting day of playing.Appreciated the extras in the fridge left by previous renters (dressing, ketchup, etc.)Janet & Dennis were amazing to work with-speedy with replies to ALL my e-mails! Mahalo for helping us with our dream vacation... we would highly recommend you to anyone!!

Our family of 8 stayed here, May 2008. The whole property was well maintained and nicely landscaped. 307 was just as pictured/described and comfortable for our big family. All the snorkel equipment was great and the kitchen was nicely furnished, too. The Smith's were very nice to work with. We thought it was a great value and hope we can go again!

We had such an amazing stay in your condo! The location was great; easy access to the beach and a short walk to many restaurants and shops. We had 4 adults and 2 kids in our group and everyone had plenty of room. We really enjoyed all the "extras" you provide; pool and beach toys/chairs, snorkel equipment, and even charcoal for the grills. You really helped make our vacation fun and easy! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the island!

It is a very family friendly unit and Janet and Dennis are truly great owners who take pride in keeping the unit in good shape and actively looking at ways to improve your stay. We have rented before in Maui and really like the location and great value the unit has to offer.
