If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing home away from home, where you will be greeted by a gracious and welcoming Hostess, and the wonders of Languedoc and Provence are just short, scenic drives away, this is the place to stay! The 2nd floor Studio is perfect for a couple and much larger and with more character than your average cookie-cutter hotel room. There is a fair sized kitchen (including a washer/dryer!) that has all the pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, etc. that you would need for eating in (helps save $$). The main room, with bed, table, couch and chairs, is very, very comfortable and roomy enough for stretching out at the end of a long day of sightseeing, without getting in each other’s way. Hair dryer, ironing board, power adapters and even shoe polish (!) was available in the room for our use. Safe and secure parking is nearby and at a cost of ~45 euro for a week, it really was a good deal if you have a car. One warning to some people, it is a bit of a climb up steep, stone steps to get to the room and if you have lots of heavy luggage or have health issues, this may pose a problem. (There is no lift and there really shouldn’t be….that would just ruin the character!) The town of Uzes itself, is very beautiful with many wonderful restaurants and lovely shops. There are so many fantastic boulangeries in town, we were able to try a different one each day for our daily croissants and baguettes. Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Montpellier, Pont du Gard are all less than a one hour drive away, so this town is a perfect place to call “home” and journey from to the sites in southern France. We definitely would like to go back to Uzes and the only place we would want to stay is with Shirley at Hotel de Rosier. From the first moment you contact Shirley about her place, right up to your bittersweet farewell, you will have nothing but good things to say about this place and your hostess. Bon Voyage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: This studio I could live in quite happily , especially in Autumn, Winter and Spring. In the Summer I know it does not have a terrace - but with the three sets of windows open in the early morning light or to sit by the open windows to eat each evening -- it has a very calming feel about it -especially watching the sun going down behind the ancient rooftops of this wonderful town. It is at the back of the house so -- it has a private feel about it. The town square with it's Cafe's and Restaurants is just a short walk away , but you cannot here the noise of it . The river for picnics and walks is just down the hill .In this studio you are surrounded by trees , towers and terraces -- The studio becomes a walled private terrace. I agree with the comment about the stairs as I have stated many times " Be Careful " or when speaking to a child " Be Sensible On The Stairs " . I am always available to give a hand with the luggage -- and you only take your luggage up once ! We have clients who come for long stays here - up to 5 weeks each year - so if you are wise and sensitive to ancient buildings you will love the ambience if not always the climb. Thank You Very Much for this review - I really do appreciate your comments and I hope to see you again one day. What fine dressage. Your Blushing Hostess.

This property surpassed all of our expectations. It is a beautiful, architectual gem that made our visit to Uzes all the better. From the moment you walk through the impressive front doors the history of the building captivates you. Shirley went above and beyond; meeting us at the carpark, assisting us with getting a longterm carpark ticket and ensuring that we were settled in our accomodations; even taking us on a tour through the village and pointing out where to get groceries and the hotspots for eating and for picking up our daily baguette! The in suite kitchen allowed us to do enjoy all of the local produce and goodies from the Wednesday and Saturday markets (which are not to be missed!). Perhaps what we enjoyed the mst about this property were the amazing views from the numerous windows, whose shutters opened widely to reveal the spectacular skyline of Uzes. Many an evening ended over a bottle of wonderful wine from the region while staring out at the castle and statue right outside of our windows. Daytrips to nearby Pont du Gard, Nimes, Collias and beyond revealed the treasures of the Roman influence in the region. We hope to return soon with family or friends!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank You very much for your review and your happy faces every time we met . You obviously made good use of your time here in Uzes and the surrounding area ! As I say in my publicity this studio does not have a terrace -- but it is very comfortable with excellent views. It is also the best part of this large house for internet connections -- if you are a long way from home , or need to keep in touch with your business ! Best Regards Shirley Mc Carthy

We are so glad to have chosen charming Uzes as our first stop in Provence, and doubly happy to have had the chance to stay at the Hotel de Rosier. The second (or third, depending on your country's conventions) floor studio was so comfortable, and furnished with every necessity. The views from the several windows were utterly enchanting, and the location very quiet (with the exception of the bells from the Duchy and the cathedral, both very near. They do, fortunately, cease during the night.) The building is a tourist attraction in itself, the steps worn with 4 centuries of residents' feet, the salon richly decorated to graciously welcome King Louis XIII. If you want to know more, the knowledgeable and gracious hostess will doubtless oblige your curiosity with fascinating tales. We only wish we had booked our entire vacation here! Could scarcely be better. Wifi a plus!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: So many Travellers pass through and praise this amazing house. Thank You for putting your thoughts in writing they are well appreciated ! Regarding the bells - They Stop at 10 and start at 7 a.m. They are such a part of Uzes -- that they would be sorely missed by me and most of the residents here if they ever stopped . A few years ago the surrounding area was flooded very badly and after the heavy rain had STOPPED THE BELLS -- nobody said "What a Relief " . As you have said they stop at night -- and the first chimes at seven are very welcome they say "All Is Well". I enjoyed our little chats on the stairs -- and hope you visit us again one day . My very Best Regards Your Self Opinionated Hostess.
