Hotel de Rosier Uzes
Hotel de Rosier Uzes
Whoever chooses to stay in this delightful historic house in the centre of Uzes will not be disappointed. It is ideally located and within a short distance of many interesting and wonderful places. The accommodation is charming and comfortable and provided all that we required. Our stay was made all the more relaxing by the warm and receptive welcome we received from the charismatic and helpful owner.Uzes is ideal for visiting many other sites such as Pont du Gard ;St Quentin La Poterie and Avignon. We look forward to returning soon and share our experiences with friends.

Owner response: I try to make life as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Holidays with the travelling and the anticipation of where you are going to stay can be very stressful and I know from my own experiences that a cold welcome after a long and tiring journey is sometimes devastating . I now have clients that return each year ( or so ),because Uzes is a wonderful little town that is very well placed for visiting other sites from the mountains to the sea - and Hotel de Rosier being a 17th Century Historical Monument makes it a holiday with a difference . Thank You aubiac for making the time to write this review .
we stayed at the Hotel de Rosier for 6 nights in October/2013. we absolutely loved it? Shirley is very warm and inviting and goes out of her way to make your stay special. she has a great sense of humor and we enjoyed our conversations with her. the second floor studio apartment is romantic and cozy with incredible views of the castles and village! the delightful plaza with it's beautiful Plane trees is only a few minutes walk from her house. the historic house with it's grand entry and medieval feeling interior give you the feeling of being in a museum-very exciting! there are many nearby restaurants and sites-it was just an amazing stay and we hope we are able to return at sometime in the future.

Owner response: What can I SAY !!! Thank You for your review ---- and you are welcome at any time ! Best Wishes From Shirley
It was a great feeling to temporary possess a key to the front door of the wonderful Hotel Rosiers! The hideaway roof top apartment was perfect for my needs; being a short reasonably agile person! I loved the decor; Shirley has excellent taste, as well as being an excellent person. She has thought of everything! I highly recommend it, as well as visiting Uzes in general.

Owner response: Thank You very much for your review. The third floor studio is often an escape for me (when it is vacant of course) high up away from it all . And excellent if you have a good book to read , or just to look down on Uzes from the high terrace - where you have a view of the town and the distant countryside all in one go ! I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again one day . Very Best Regards Shirley Mc Carthy
The Perfect Holiday
The Perfect Holiday
We had a lovely time staying here, the room was great and beautifully presented and the view was also incredible. Ideally loacted just round the corner from the square in Uzes making it easy to get around. Our stay could not have been better

Owner response: This little studio has the biggest romantic and breathtaking - private view - in Uzes ! As you say just around the corner to the equally superb square full of light and shadows - in the early evening at the end of a Summer's day . The bed is a little short if you are over 6ft or on the large side ? But otherwise very comfortable. Thank You for your review Tom and we look forward to seeing you again. Best Regards Shirley Mc Carthjy
A gorgeous gem
A gorgeous gem
We stayed in the rooftop hideaway, a beautiful little apartment, well decorated, and very comfortable. The terrace has spectacular views in all directions and still feels wonderfully private. The apartment is situated at the top of a very impressive house, on a pretty cobbled street right in the heart of this lovely town. There are loads of good places to eat within comfortable strolling distance, but if you want to buy food at the market (and you should!), the butcher or the baker, they are all close by, and the kitchen is fully equipped. Shirley was welcoming and helpful, and I very much hope we will be returning.

What can I say about staying in the Hotel de Rosier. It is magnificent in all respects. Your heart skips a beat just walking up the street! It is set on a beautiful pedestrian cobbled street amidst all the glorious history of Uzes. With grand archtiecture all around you can't help but feel part of it all and you will certainly seel somewhat smug throughout your stay that you found such a gem! Once inside it only gets better. A wonderful stone staircase sweeps you up to your apartment which you will find perfectly renovated with taste and with only your comfort in mind. A great interior and such incredible views that anyone who sees them must surely take a moment to catch their breath. We were made to feel incredibly at ease by the owners who, when your paths cross, are the perfect hosts. The area has everything you need, beautiful architecture, stunning countryside and not too far away from Nimes, Avignon and the coast and all that Provence offers. I am almost reluctant to share such a discovery but really, don't think twice, your search should stop here...!

Owner response: We try at Hotel de Rosier to do our very best for our clients. A holiday for most people is only once a year, and is quite a stressful occasion for some people-- if things do not go exactly to plan. Whatever the weather , our two studios and apartment are a joy. Thank you so much for your comments-- We love our house ! This is not just a holiday let ----- And we are very pleased that it shows. Best Regards to you from Shirley Mc Carthy.
We booked the studio at very short notice. Shirley made everything very smooth and easy. She met us at the studio and it exceeded our wildest expectations. Having stayed in scores of holiday homes I have learned to read the owners comments with a degree of reservation. This studio is much better than the words suggest. There has been meticolous attenhion to detail in its presentation even down to the lonely linen serviettes. There are really comfy futons for sunbathing on the huge roof top terrace the views from which are breathtaking. If you are tyall you would find the bed difficult but for average size people it is very comfortable. we cant wait to go back to Uzes.

Owner response: I love and nurture this studio. It is high up like a nest in a tall tree, with a birds eye view of the roof tops of Uzes and the countryside beyond. It is a private place, but at the same time you survey everything around you. When I travel around I often feel like just a number passing through, so I have tried to make the studio feel welcoming, with those little touches that make my guests feel important and comfortable. The bed is an antique ,but the mattress is not- it is hand made and filled with wool which makes it very comfortable . Although I loose out on guests over 6 foot tall - to replace it with a modern bed ,would take away some of the charm and character of the studio - So there it shall stay. Best Regards Shirley Mc Carthy. P.S--Thank you Neenie for your comments. It is also good to open the door to a smiling face . Corrections -- lovely linen serviettes - not lonely . Plus tyall-- should read tall--I think ?
Wonderful rooftop hideaway!
Wonderful rooftop hideaway!
We visited uzes in august 2011 and enjoyed the "rooftop hideaway" with the great terrace. Thanks to Shirley we had a wonderful time in the little rooftop studio. She made our week a perfect stay with lots of help and service. Especially the welcome-bottle of Rosé, olives and the coffee made us feel comfy in an instant. Above all it was the amazing view from the terrace we couldn't get enough of. Although we made some trips to the Pont du Gard (20 min. by car) Nimes (max. 1 hour), Chateuneuf-du-pape (1/2 hour) and the Camargue (1,5 hours) the thing we enjoyed the most was staying at home in Uzes, relaxing on the rooftop, walking through the beautiful city of Uzes, sitting in a Bar with "un cafe", or a glass of wine or Pastis. If you visit uzes, try the farmer's market with local products and some of the restaurants. We also bought a lot of wine and olive oil at the wineyards and oil mills around Uzes. The best place for a bath in the river Gard is at Collias. We would come back immediatly if we could. It was a great stay in a special house with a very nice landlady.
