If you've never been to Bald Head Island, you don't know what you are missing. If you've been there, you understand the unique and relaxing atmosphere of this treasure island. You will want to come back again and again.
Our bright, open floor plan cottage is perfectly located in the middle of Bald Head Island. High ceilings and windows give it a spacious feel, yet, being situated in the woodland environment, there's an air of seclusion, too. The gazebo, about 100 feet from the back door, offers great viewing of turtles, birds, and, yes, alligators. We love to cook and eat, so the the kitchen has lots of extras.
The beach, salt marsh, harbor, Maritime Market, and Old Baldy Lighthouse are only five minutes away.
Access to the island is by ferry from Southport, North Carolina, unless, of course, you own your own boat. Once on the island, all transportation is by electric golf cart, bike, rollerblade, or foot.
Whether you play the four-star George Cobb golf course, collect sea shells by Cape Fear, do a loggerhead turtle walk with the Turtle Conservancy, or simply enjoy reading in our Carolina sunroom, it's an ideal way to spend a fantastic vacation.

Our Thanksgiving holiday week was made complete being able to bring along our 2yr old Golden, Daphne and 16yr old Maine Coon Cat, Woody. Thanks to you all for offering the comfort of your wonderful pet friendly BHI cottage. Long walks on the beach, bike rides to "scout out" some real estate potential of our own, exploring the nooks & crannies of the island, on foot, star gazing, competitive Scrabble games, fishing, trying out some new seafood recipes, and lots of "R&R" made for a most memorable week our family will remember always! Thank you for sharing your beautiful island home with us! This was our 1st time on BHI and we plan to make this our annual family vacation spot. Andrew (14 months) especially loved playing with the "shaaaaaaa" (sand!) We also enjoyed taking the bikes out each afternoon. Seeing the alligator and a snake in the road was a special treat! We enjoyed our 1st visit to Bald head Island. We really liked the fact that it was not the busy time of year. We took many long walks on the beach with our dog. She loved chasing the birds up & down the beach - but is not a water dog no matter how many times we tried to get her in the water. We enjoyed the cottage and relaxing week we spent here. Thanks! In addition to the hatching loggerheads, we saw a turtle nest excavation where they see how many more eggs are unhatched. They (Conservancy Professionals) removed 15 hatchlings and sent them on their journey. We saw foxes, 5 deer, squirrels, bats, racoon, shore birds, marsh birds, lake turtles and anoles. this place amazes me every time. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us! Dona Nova

The DePalma family enjoyed our fourth visit to Bald head Island, our first in Sabal Palm Cottage 1. We enjoyed the hospitality of your lovely cottage, the perfect size for our family of four adults, one fiancee, one boyfriend, and one dog. The 6-seater golf cart was a great plus, as were the bikes, the throws on the couches, the extra towels in the master bedroom - we used the one downstairs. Our daughter enjoyed the skim board, too. Easter Weekend! This was our 1st time on Bald Head Island. The weather was great, a little windy on the beach! We went to the top of Old Baldy, toured the island, went to the beach & the pool.
