If you've never been to Bald Head Island, you don't know what you are missing. If you've been there, you understand the unique and relaxing atmosphere of this treasure island. You will want to come back again and again.
Our bright, open floor plan cottage is perfectly located in the middle of Bald Head Island. High ceilings and windows give it a spacious feel, yet, being situated in the woodland environment, there's an air of seclusion, too. The gazebo, about 100 feet from the back door, offers great viewing of turtles, birds, and, yes, alligators. We love to cook and eat, so the the kitchen has lots of extras.
The beach, salt marsh, harbor, Maritime Market, and Old Baldy Lighthouse are only five minutes away.
Access to the island is by ferry from Southport, North Carolina, unless, of course, you own your own boat. Once on the island, all transportation is by electric golf cart, bike, rollerblade, or foot.
Whether you play the four-star George Cobb golf course, collect sea shells by Cape Fear, do a loggerhead turtle walk with the Turtle Conservancy, or simply enjoy reading in our Carolina sunroom, it's an ideal way to spend a fantastic vacation.

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Bald Head, esp. enjoyed the cottage feel of Sabal Palm #1. Beautifully appointed with a lighthouse decor. Especially liked that we could bring our dog, Cash, on vacation with us. We would definitely vacation at Sabal Palm #1 again! Mark, Kirsten, and Cash Smith

Stayed at Mark's place twice this past winter - but only because he was gracious enough to let us out out of a rental we had previosuly set up over the Christmas holidays (when my wife's mother had a stroke). Mark, being a very easy going guy, just let us split up our original rental over two different long weekends (at a later date). If you have a dog, this is the place to stay (we have two). It's just real down to earth and comfortable. Plus, his rates and Pet Fees are probably the most reasonable on the island. We like the location -- surprisingly private and yet minutes from the ocean and the restaurants/ferry/marina. Had a great, relaxing time overall. Would definitely come back.

Mark, thank you SO much again for sharing the awesome house! This trip was just as amazing as the others. The foxes are TAME?!! We got to pet a large (3 ft wide) sting ray too. The Point is different again - There weren't any groovy shells! We had a blast. I think even the dogs knew we were on vacation. They lounged all day - Thank you for letting them come. They were perfect.

Thank you for sharing Sabal Palm Cottage #1. The foxes on Federal are very friendly. We got alot of good pictures. Rides on the golf cart thru the curvy trails were fun day & night. The dogs were good. Thanks for allowing them in your LOVELY house.

We all had a great time on our second visit to Sabal Palm Cottage 1, although the mosquitoes were a challenge. Our weather was perfect. We miss the pizza place and ice cream store in Harbor Village and hope that more dining options are available in the future. Maritime Way should not be our only option except for the Club. But...our vacation is about ocean and family and we all enjoyed every minute.

Ahhh...we hate to leave, but have enjoyed our time on BH. Your home is wonderful and a great location. I think we even managed to conquer the massing mosquitos - enough DEET and zooming off in the golf cart. Great freedom, serenity and time to get back to ourselves...Hope to come back soon. Thank you!
