Stayed at Mark's place twice this past winter - but only because he was gracious enough to let us out out of a rental we had previosuly set up over the Christmas holidays (when my wife's mother had a stroke). Mark, being a very easy going guy, just let us split up our original rental over two different long weekends (at a later date). If you have a dog, this is the place to stay (we have two). It's just real down to earth and comfortable. Plus, his rates and Pet Fees are probably the most reasonable on the island. We like the location -- surprisingly private and yet minutes from the ocean and the restaurants/ferry/marina. Had a great, relaxing time overall. Would definitely come back.

it was soooo hard to this place. kids loved the beach and the pool, dogs loved taking in everything from the screened in porch. we slept like logs seranaded by the night sounds of the maritime forest. before we left we were already looking for times to get back here! thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us!

Mark, thank you SO much again for sharing the awesome house! This trip was just as amazing as the others. The foxes are TAME?!! We got to pet a large (3 ft wide) sting ray too. The Point is different again - There weren't any groovy shells! We had a blast. I think even the dogs knew we were on vacation. They lounged all day - Thank you for letting them come. They were perfect.

Thank you for sharing Sabal Palm Cottage #1. The foxes on Federal are very friendly. We got alot of good pictures. Rides on the golf cart thru the curvy trails were fun day & night. The dogs were good. Thanks for allowing them in your LOVELY house.

We all had a great time on our second visit to Sabal Palm Cottage 1, although the mosquitoes were a challenge. Our weather was perfect. We miss the pizza place and ice cream store in Harbor Village and hope that more dining options are available in the future. Maritime Way should not be our only option except for the Club. But...our vacation is about ocean and family and we all enjoyed every minute.

Ahhh...we hate to leave, but have enjoyed our time on BH. Your home is wonderful and a great location. I think we even managed to conquer the massing mosquitos - enough DEET and zooming off in the golf cart. Great freedom, serenity and time to get back to ourselves...Hope to come back soon. Our Thanksgiving holiday week was made complete being able to bring along our 2yr old Golden, Daphne and 16yr old Maine Coon Cat, Woody. Thanks to you all for offering the comfort of your wonderful pet friendly BHI cottage. Long walks on the beach, bike rides to "scout out" some real estate potential of our own, exploring the nooks & crannies of the island, on foot, star gazing, competitive Scrabble games, fishing, trying out some new seafood recipes, and lots of "R&R" made for a most memorable week our family will remember always! Thank you for sharing your beautiful island home with us! This was our 1st time on BHI and we plan to make this our annual family vacation spot. Andrew (14 months) especially loved playing with the "shaaaaaaa" (sand!) We also enjoyed taking the bikes out each afternoon. Seeing the alligator and a snake in the road was a special treat! We enjoyed our 1st visit to Bald head Island. We really liked the fact that it was not the busy time of year. We took many long walks on the beach with our dog. She loved chasing the birds up & down the beach - but is not a water dog no matter how many times we tried to get her in the water. We enjoyed the cottage and relaxing week we spent here. Thanks! In addition to the hatching loggerheads, we saw a turtle nest excavation where they see how many more eggs are unhatched. They (Conservancy Professionals) removed 15 hatchlings and sent them on their journey. We saw foxes, 5 deer, squirrels, bats, racoon, shore birds, marsh birds, lake turtles and anoles. this place amazes me every time. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us! Dona Nova

The DePalma family enjoyed our fourth visit to Bald head Island, our first in Sabal Palm Cottage 1. We enjoyed the hospitality of your lovely cottage, the perfect size for our family of four adults, one fiancee, one boyfriend, and one dog. The 6-seater golf cart was a great plus, as were the bikes, the throws on the couches, the extra towels in the master bedroom - we used the one downstairs. Our daughter enjoyed the skim board, too. Easter Weekend! This was our 1st time on Bald Head Island. The weather was great, a little windy on the beach! We went to the top of Old Baldy, toured the island, went to the beach & the pool. We had an absolutely wonderful time in Bald Head, esp. enjoyed the cottage feel of Sabal Palm #1. Beautifully appointed with a lighthouse decor.
