Elegant, spacious cottage with soaring, 15-foot ceilings and to-the-floor windows framing gorgeous views of the estuary, cove, and surrounding meadows. July to October fish striped bass right from our point! Kayak from our shore to explore the many beautiful islands near the mouth of our cove, outside the busy commercial traffic in our thoroughfare and harbor. Beautifully furnished, well equipped, feels immediately and completely like home. Owner managed with an eye to every detail Outside, Heron Cottage looks like an old school house. Inside it is more like a loft with sleek stainless steel counters, stylish furnishings and luxurious down bedding. Many amenities including a gourmet gas grill, whirlpool tub and dishwasher. Pretty , nicely landscaped waterfront setting. A truly incomparable vacation rental.
Nearly one-third mile of private shore to explore and enjoy on 10 amazing acres offering an endless harvest from sea and shore--wildflowers, berries, and wild mushrooms, clams and mussels right on our shore at the receding tide. The cottage has its own long curving perennial flower garden and a tiny kitchen garden with herbs, lettuces, tomatoes and cukes. Handy to all the restaurants, shops, galleries. A haven for artists, photographers, naturalists, amateur astronomers, adventuresome and experienced ocean kayakers, and bird watchers. A wonderful place to recharge any time and a perfect spring, fall or winter getaway. Canoe provided for experienced paddlers familiar with ocean tides and currents. On-site kayak and small boat launch.
Although occupancy is limited to two, there is a cot size futon for an ocasional overnight guest.

- Wonderful walks on well groomed ocean trails, including those right here at Cove Meadow, great wildlife--eagles, osprey, herons, sea mammals, hares, on the receding tide, dig clams and mussels right on our shore, around hi tide July to October fish stripers by canoe or kayak or right from our shores, have a full clam bake on the point, just about the best sea kayaking anywhere with dozens of islands a short paddle away, We do have wonderful on island restaurants and good live theater but many of our guests leave Cove Meadow only when absolutely necessary or leave in the canoe for a picnic on the cove

Never planned to return to Maine but here I am on this enchanted island enjoying the daily mysteries of life up close to nature on the heart achingly beautiful land overlooking this secret and magical cove..
Why the Owner Chose Stonington
The first time I saw this island I knew I had to live here. 30 days later I became owner and steward of Cove Meadow. Impossible capture how it feels to be here in photos..but visit the website covemeadow for a sense of it.
The Unique Benefits of this House
An endless wild harvest from my meadow, woods & shore including fabulous striped bass fishing by kayak. Swimming my 1.5 mile pristine cove in blissful privacy, daily visits from eagles, osprey, hawks, herons and ocasional visits from a lynx and our local seal.
