We loved everything about this home. From the price to the location to the views, it was all awesome. We loved that it was in the small town of Townsend vs. the more commercialized areas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Townsend is a small town that had all the conveniences we needed without all of the extra "stuff." This makes it a perfect location for a family who isn't concerned with the shopping and attractions but would rather spend time in the park. The house itself was laid out wonderfully and accommodated our party of 10 VERY comfortably. We have never stayed in a rental property that was so well stocked with all of the necessities. This might be a spring break destination for us for years to come!

We had a spectacular time!! Your cabin is fabulous and the mountain views were so awesome. We went to Cades Cove, Tuchaleechee caverns, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We will be coming back for sure. Nothing beats this cabin, the views or the location.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed several days of our Spring Break at Rocky Top Lodge. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations or a more beautiful location--what a breath-taking view! The grandchildren especially enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. Since the lodge is centrally located, we were able to spend some time in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg; enjoy a picnic lunch in Cades Cove; and do a little fishing. The owners were very gracious and easy to work with. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Hope we can return soon! We highly recommend The Chocolate Shoppe (next to Subway) for breakfast--delicious waffles and omelets served with fresh fruit.

We just arrived home from the best vacation ever! The family time was great (4 generations) and we had the best accomodations we have ever had. Rocky Top Lodge is absolutely the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The view was breathtaking, the furnishings & appliances were the BEST quality, also the utensils, cookware, & dinnerware. I thought I would have to PRY my family away this morning to come home. We have definitely found a little slice of Heaven and can't wait to come back again. The only time we even ventured away from the cabin was to go to the Titanic Museum, which was wonderful. Peggy & Rodger, thanks for sharing your "home away from home" with us. God bless you & your family!
Owner response:We truly enjoy responses like yours. As you could see, we take a lot of pride in creating an environment that has the feel of home and is warm and inviting. Thank you for such a wonderful and equally warm review. We look forward to hearing from you again when you have another chance to visit our "little slice of heaven".

Since I know the owners of Rocky Top Lodge, I knew the description and pictures would be honest and accurate. Everything looked great online, but it wasn't even close to reality! From the moment we walked in the door, we were blown away by the lovely decor and amenities of the cabin. AND...the million-dollar view...how could you ever capture that in a picture? We had five adults, one toddler, and one baby on our family's long weekend trip. Everything we needed was there, including a new highchair (since Peggy knew we were bringing a six-month-old) and a booster seat. On the way to the cabin we stopped at the IGA down the road to buy food, and then we left the cabin only once in four days. That was to go to Pigeon Forge for dinner at the Old Mill Restaurant, a family favorite. We had no other reason to leave...the cabin was the perfect place to spend time with loved ones, our goal. We loved it at Rocky Top Lodge and want to plan another family trip there. It was a wonderful, comfortable family getaway for this Nanna, her children and grands. Thank you, Peggy and Rodger, for sharing your beautiful home in God's magnificent Smokey Mountains with us. God bless...
Owner response:Thank you for such a wonderful review! We love it, as well, and can't wait to go whenever we can. Hope you will be able to visit again.

My family and I have spent many vacations in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. This cabin has by far been our favorite place to stay. It is a 'luxury' rental, being fully stocked with everything a family needs. I was amazed having rented other cabins and not having simple kitchen utencils, cookware, plates, dinnerware, glasses, ect. This cabin not only has it all but also good quality things to work with and plenty of everything. I cooked for my family of nine all weekend, and it was a pleasure cooking in this kitchen. The den accommodated my entire family, having one very comfortable sectional and two other couches for us all to lounge on front of the fireplace while watching sports and movies. The beds slept wonderfully. The cabin was just beautiful, and the view breath-taking. I especially enjoyed swinging on the back porch with my grandchild. I definately recommend staying at Rocky Top Lodge. You won't be disappointed.

This cabin is amazing! I have stayed here several times and as always, never want to leave. Not only is the cabin and surrounding area beautiful, the owners are just a joy to work with. They go out of their way to make sure that your stay exceeds your expectations. If you have a question or concern they are just a phone call away. There are also tons of activities in the area to keep you busy or you can just lay back in the cabin for rest and relaxation. Thank you Rodger and Peggy for making our stay a wonderful experience. My family and I look forward toward returning again this year.

Rodger & Peggy, We had a Wonderful time at your cabin this weekend. It is beautiful and so cozy feeling, the kitchen was wonderful, the towels and linens were great and we really enjoyed the hot tub. I don’t usually sleep very well when I am way from my own bed, but I didn’t have any problems sleeping. There was plenty of room for all 3 families and the kids loved having all the room to play, we couldn’t hardly get them to bed at night. We didn’t want to leave and are looking forward to coming back in the future.

My daughter graduated from the MBA program at UT on Friday and we reserved this cabin for the weekend. It was just the perfect setting for the celebration. The home has everything that you need and more. The views are awesome from the deck and throughout the neighborhood. What a nice surprise to walk in and the home was already fully decorated for Christmas. That was just one of the many added bonuses. We had brought our own 2 Ft. tree and didn't even need to get it out of the vehicle. Thank you for an fabulous time...full of great memories.
Owner response:Congratulations to your daughter for such a special accomplishment. We are glad you found more than you expected and appreciate your kind words. Merry Christmas to all.

What a great cabin for our family to enjoy in the Smoky Mountains! The cabin was so much more than the picture could show. We have rented cabins here before for years but none as clean, spacious, grand and homey as this one. Everything you need to relax and enjoy the million dollar view. I was so impressed that the owner's were right there if you have any questions before and during our stay that gave us such a peace of mind! We will be back and have told our family and friends this is the place to rent don't bother with the rest they can't beat it. We recommend if you don't cook try Grandmother's Kitchen for breakfast and lunch and visit the local shops in Wears Valley. Thank you Rodger and Peggy and God Bless all you do!

Our children, their spouses and our grandson spent the weekend of October 14 at Rocky Top Lodge. It was an amazing place. We've stayed at several cabins in the Wears Valley area, and this was one of the nicest by far. One of the things we liked was that it was two levels. It was big enough not to be crowded, but the layout was very family friendly. The view from the balcony was beautiful, with the leaves just beginning to have color. It was cool enough in the evening and early morning to use the fireplace. We loved the new dishwasher that was so quiet we had to be sure it was running. The kitchen was wonderful. When we look for a place, a large kitchen is a must. Our son did the Saturday night meal and our son-in-law did breakfast both mornings. We had plenty of cookware to do all meals. The griddle was great because our son-in-law does big fluffy pancakes. We drove back down to the Apple Barn place and browsed around. Our children had to leave Sunday evening, so my husband and I drove thru the Cades Cove loop, actually saw a bear. The lodge was very clean, the linens and towels really nice. It was decorated beautifully. The pictures do not do it justice. We appreciate being allowed to stay there and enjoy the SERENITY (even with a 6 year old). We would definitely recommend Rocky Top to others. We look forward to staying there again, ourselves. Lenoir City, TN

Rocky Top Lodge was a perfect place for a girl friends' get-away. The home is lovely - every bit as pretty as the pictures on the web site. It is convenient to the Park, but away from the congestion. The view from the deck is spectacular - we watched the fall colors change daily. Our only disappointment was not having more time at Rocky Top Lodge!

We stayed this past Labor Day 2011. It was our 5th or 6th year in a row and we will be back next year. There are usually between 6-10 people each year. The cabin was great before and even better now that the new owners have upgraded some things. New TV, grill, dishwasher, wi-fi, to name a few. We had one issue with the water going out because of a pump at the main well for the area cabins. Rodger and Alan did all they could to make sure they contacted the right people to get it fixed and kept us informed as to the progress. They even offered to pay for bottled water for us which proved unnecessary. I can heartily recommend this cabin to anyone coming to the Smokies. Great location between Pigeon Forge, Townsend, and Gatlinburg; great views of the mountains; relaxing, spacious, clean, and affordable.

We had a great experience at Rocky Top Lodge. We had a party of 6 adults and 5 children. Each one of us were sad to leave. I have already recommended it and forwarded this link to 3 of my friends. The rooms were spacious, the cabin was clean and everything that we needed was there for us. The pictures do not even do it justice and we were thrilled with the pictures. All interactions with the owners, Rodger and Peggy, were very easy, accommodating and helpful. You can go to this cabin and not have to worry...just make sure your that car can hike a steep mountain to get to a great view. Definitely worth it!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind remarks. It always makes us feel good to hear that our guests appreciate the effort we put into making Rocky Top a great vacation experience. Look forward to seeing you guys in the future.

Three generations of our family recently spent six nights at Rocky Top Lodge. This was our first trip to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area and our first experience with VRBO. We put our trust in Rocky Top’s excellent online traveler reviews and we were not disappointed. This cabin is fabulous!! It has many amenities that set it apart. First, there are two master suites with king-size beds. The master baths are large and both have jetted tubs with separate showers. The bed linens were top-of-the-line and there were more than enough soft, fluffy towels for our group. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of plates, bowls, cups and glassware. We did lots of cooking during the week and the cabin kitchen had every pot, pan and utensil that we needed. We absolutely loved the brand-new Samsung refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher!! (It looks like there has been an upgrade of the washer and dryer since our visit. Wow!) We spent quite a bit of time relaxing in the main rooms on the lower level of the cabin, and enjoyed the flat-screen TV and comfortable furniture. We were also very pleased with the location of the cabin. The view was spectacular! The immediate surroundings were quiet and serene, yet we were close to many activities in and around Townsend. Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville were just a short drive away. We can't wait to return!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind comments and great review. My wife and I put a lot into making Rocky Top the best vacation place we can and your comments make our efforts worth while. We are looking forward to your next visit. Thanks again!

Rodger, we had a great time in TN and thoroughly enjoined the cabin. It is very spacious and there was plenty of room for our extended family to relax. It is even better in person than the pictures show. We enjoyed the quietness of the surrounding area, but were only a few miles from the busy tourist spots. We had a great time and hope to return.

The place was amazing. We were all amazed on how big and cozy this cabin was. My kids enjoyed the hot tub and all the adults enjoyed the view. It was a wonderful place to get away and relax. We enjoyed Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg during the day and came back to relax. We would recommend this place to anyone we know going to Pigeon Forge area. I know we plan to come back and hopefully it will be available again to rent. Thanks!

Randy and Terri, Your cabin cabin is awsome! For all considering this cabin, the pictures do not really show how great this cabin is. The location is close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but also tucked away from the crowds. The rooms are huge as are the bathrooms in the two master suites. It snowed for two days straight and we were able to enjoy a white christmas. It surely was white as we had over one foot of snow on the ground. We made a snowman and enjoyed sledding down the hill. We will surely be back again. The owners were very responsive to any inquiries and were a pleasure to speak to. My five year old son even asked if we could move into the cabin. Overall an excellent vacation.
Owner response:A White Christmas in the Smokies...... life is good! You were a joy to work with. Thanks, Randy

WOW! What a way to start the New Year! The stay at Rocky Top Lodge was amazing. When we first entered, we noticed the warm, faint smell of the wood interior. Then the attractive way the Lodge was decorated and the many personal touches made the Lodge feel so welcoming. The kitchen was so well equipped that we could not think of anything that was missing or needed….just like home or better. We have stayed in Five Star hotels that did not compare in quality or cleanliness. What a wonderful location --- away from the hustle and bustle, yet convenient to ALL the attractions in the area. This is an experience we will cherish and share with others. Joel and Sandra

All I can tell you is WOW, we all just looked at each other and said WOW, it's beautiful. Girl, you did good is what my sisters told me. We literally walked around and wow'd the whole place and it was soo comfortable. We enjoyed three beautiful days before the rain. It rained so much and so long, we were then blessed with a beautiful waterfall to look at if you looked off the deck. It was time to leave before we knew it and we were sad to part. Thank you for sharing your blessings. We certainly were. Kathy

We just had the most relaxing vacation of all time and it was due to this lovely Log Home. The accommodations were the best we have ever had in vacation property. The comments we have seen about the view did not even do it justice, depending on the time of day it is always different and breath-taking. When it is quiet in the morning, you can hear the waterfall across the way. Townsend, Tenn. with its family style restaurants and little shops were very welcome and the activities in the area kept my family busy. My family was very impressed with the home and everything included, the kitchen is where you can truly cook anything. I really enjoyed having my 60th birthday celebrated here with all my family. This is going to be an annual event with my clan. Thank you, thank you and thank you for sharing this jewel with us. My grandson keeps asking when we are going back to our "home" in the mountains. My daughter keeps telling me, looking at the pictures we took, "Dad, I miss this place." Again thank you so very much for sharing. The Lang Family

Randy and Teri, thank you so much for letting us use your cabin, we will never forget it, and thanks again for letting us change our dates. We had a great time there, we went to tons of shows. The Black Bear Jamboree was worth every single penny. The Comedy Barn was so funny, and the juggler had some talent let me tell you!! The view was the best, and the beds were so comfy! The bathrooms were amazing, and the trip itself was just the best! Tennessee is really just an all around amazing state, beautiful!!! And everyone talks to you like family which is nice because where we live has changed alot, and nobody bothers with anybody, but yes thanks again for everything!

Randy, I wanted to let you know how much my family and I appreciated your lodge as well as Townsned, TN. Boy, did I make the right choice in Rocky Top and Townsend. If you want bright lights, crowds, and noise then do not choose the Rocky Top Lodge. We sat out every night and watched the stars and the bats come out. You could not hear anything except for the toasting of wine glasses as we enjoyed the peaceful scenery that is the Smoky Mountains. The location of Rocky Top is perfect as we visited the Smokey Mountains in the day and returned to our Lodge in the early evening. The Rocky Top Lodge is by far the best deal in the Smoky Moutain area. The best part is there are no immediate neighbors around the lodge. The house behind Rocky Top says a "bit of heaven", Randy, you have a whole slice of heaven! Thanks again, The Prather Clan

Rocky Top Lodge will always be on our list as favorite place to stay. Rocky Top itself was amazing inside and out! Everything you could possibly need to have an enjoyable stay was made available, even a childs utensil set for a little one! Terri & Randy did an amazing job furnishing this home. It was so spacious, but yet cozy, relaxing and very welcoming! At least 1 of my 3 children each night begged to sleep on the sectional sleeping looking out at the stars. Not to mention the beds were unbelievably the best we have ever slept on. (Now we are looking for the same one since we got spoiled :)) The view was breathtaking as you look at the different layers of green, blue and gray in the distance…just like a picture in a photo book. We sat hours just cooking out and enjoying the VIEW!.Rocky Top was close to Townsend, Cades Cove, and not far from Pigeon Forge as well as the proximity of being right off #321 made this highly desirable to us. We rode and looked around during our stay and nothing compared to the ease to get to Rocky Top and gives you the view as well. We will not hesitate to return to Rocky Top sometime soon. Thank You Terri and Randy!
