The beach home is located in Sunset Beach, a small half-mile long town that is located between the water tower along P.C.H. just south of Seal Beach and the nearby Jack In The Box at the intersection of P.C.H. and Warner just north of Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach.
There are about 1300 year round residents. Even during summer, the beach is not crowded because public parking is very limited. This is not a problem because the beach house has an attached two-car garage. In addition to gorgeous sunsets, a view of Catalina Island is also included! Pets NOT allowed.
The beach house is equipped and decorated with an emphasis on comfort and warmth. The living room furniture faces the fireplace and walnut paneling while providing an incredible view of the beach and ocean through large picture windows. The separate dining room also affords its own ocean view.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed. Another bedroom has two twin beds, while the third is equipped with two sets of bunk beds. A front deck includes patio chairs, tables, an umbrella, and a barbecue with charcoal and tools. Just off the deck is a secluded sandy area that is bordered by iceplant and offers privacy. The house is equipped with all major appliances including a washer, dryer, and dishwasher.
Other amenities include cable TV, a newspaper subscription, all linens, soaps, paper supplies, and normal household items such as a vacuum, brooms, and garden hoses. Guests especially appreciate the personal touches that include M&Ms in the candy jar and a coffee maker that includes coffee!
Gary and Christine of Huntington Beach own and operate the beach house as a vacation rental that is available 52 weeks a year. Although summer is the most popular season, other times of the year offer their own special appeal. Many folks prefer enjoying the beach during the off season when the tranquility, colorful sunsets, and the strolls by the water are most satisfying. A major reason for the satisfaction and success of the business is the personal involvement.
"We want to be there during the check-in process to meet our guests and help them feel welcome, comfortable and at home," maintains Chris. "It's satisfying to hear during the checkout that the only complaint is that nobody wants to go home!".
Typical local entertainment includes romantic beach walks, swimming, surfing, surf-fishing, bicycle riding, sunbathing, reading, relaxing, great restaurants, and just about any other fun activity that one can dream up!

Year Purchased: 1985
Born in Sunset Beach. Very familiar with town history, local events, colorful stories of past. Produced a town documentary 25 years years ago and recently had it transferred to video. A copy is in the beach house. Probably one of the best town boosters! Current main purpose/goal is to provide a memorable family beach vacation. 57 years old, married to Chris for 30 years, 3 kids.
Why the Owner Chose Sunset Beach
Bought my brother out 15 years ago. Goal is to retire there if we live long enough! Current purpose is to offer the house short term to help with payments, taxes and maintenance expenses. Also good investment.
The Unique Benefits of this Single Family House
Vacationing down there for us has a magical way of escaping the reality of the daily hassles of everyday living. Setting up one of the deck chairs at the edge of the beach and gazing out over the water is very soothing. The sunsets are probably one of the most therapeutic benefits. For us personally spending time at the beach with family/friends is a most enjoyable experience.
