This cabin was exactly what we needed for our short vacation. We arrived late Sunday night and Millie still came down and greeted us and showed us how to work everything. In the morning she called to make sure that we had everything figured out. The location of the cabin could have not been better. We fly fished and paddled during our two days and on the first day we didn't go but 3 miles from the cabin. Because we read other's reviews, we grocery shopped prior to arriving Sunday night, which allowed us to be able to cook all our meals and stay close to the cabin. The extras that Millie and Jack put with the cabin are a great personal touch from fresh flowers and baked goods to bringing us a wine opener from their own kitchen. We really enjoyed out time at the "Little House" and will highly consider coming back if we vacation in the area again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Cabin is very clean and has everything you need. Owners are very friendly. Peanut butter cookies were waiting in a tin for us and we got some fantastic blueberry muffins for our morning out. They also provided provisions for s'mores but it was too hot to use them (record heat wave all over the country). Nothing really close to get provisions so make sure you stop in Bryson City on the way in (if you are coming that way) where there is an Ingles. After that it's pretty much just sodas. Will stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We truly enjoyed our weekend stay at the cabin. Beds were nice and comfortable. Ms. Millie was so friendly, easy to talk with, too. The peanutbutter cookies were yummy, as were the blueberry muffins. A surprise to find all the little extras, soap, lotion, salt, pepper, cooking spray, plastic wrap, etc. Thank you for all your kindness.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived on 3/8/12 and everything was just as expected . . . remote cabin with very gracious hosts . . . who could ask for more. The area is just beautiful and the hiking trails are abundant. Your time here can be as layed back or active as you care for and the hosts are there to help with anything you may need assistance with. I would recommend this cabin to anyone that needs/wants to get away from the hustle bustle of city life and enjoy the fresh mountain air and great outdoors! Thanks so much for making this place available . . . we had a great stay and enjoyed talking with both of you.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We loved everything about this cabin! The pictures do NOT do it justice. My favorite was the master bedrm in the loft with the 2 story wall of windows to wake up to everyday! The cabin is beautifully furnished with the perfect furniture and decorations for a mtn cabin. The cabin is very clean too. My husband and I appreciated the stocked kitchen. We cooked everyday we were there. There were treats and a nice note waiting for us when we walked in. Millie and Jack were extremely nice and accommodating. I've rented other vacation properties and have never come across anyone as kind and caring as Millie and Jack. Anything you need, they would be willing to help you get it. My husband asked where to buy firewood so we could have a campfire one night, and Jack brought us a box of wood to use! We had major concerns about the steep driveway, especially since there was snow and slush on the gravel. Because we did not have 4 wheel drive, we almost didn't make it up the driveway that first time! When we mentioned our concerns about the driveway to Millie, Jack was immediately on his tractor scraping the driveway, making it MUCH easier for us to drive up. In fact, we didn't have any more problems with the drive after that. The quiet and seclusion was wonderful! We enjoyed the hottub every night. You would never know the cabin owners were located right up the mtn! We've never had a vacation experience like this before! Things I would have liked to know before I stayed here: 1) 4-wheel drive MAY be needed to get up the driveway if there's snow or ice (but that was easily fixed). 2) When it says "secluded", it means really SECLUDED. The closest grocery store is over 20 min away. (Not that big of a deal, just plan ahead) Also, I advice you to put gas in your car whenever you see a gas station and don't let it get close to empty. This happened to us when we were out sightseeing, and we almost ran out of gas! 3) As a side note, you are surrounded by "dry" counties. If you go on vacation and aren't expecting this, it can be very time consuming to drive around in search of the nearest store that sells alcohol!! 4) Finally, if you are using a GPS and it has you going to the mtn cabin and the road turns to dirt (and the cabin is still 4 miles away), I HIGHLY suggest turning around and traveling the 30 minutes in the other direction to reach the cabin!! This little adventure happened to us. It was a long, muddy (at times scary) road!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I visited the cabin over the weekend. The cabin far exceeded our expectations. We needed a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of work and family; it was a perfect place to reconnect for the weekend. The area is beautiful and secluded. The Hosts are amazing, wonderful baked goodies each day we were there. I would recommend the cabin for anyone needing to get away from it all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I went to stay in the cabin for 3 nights for our anniversary/his birthday. We didn't start looking for a place to stay until a few days before and had a hard time finding a place. Luckily, we found this place and it was meant for us. It is pretty far out but we loved it. It is so quiet at night time and peaceful. The owners of the cabin are very nice and helpful. They live up the road a little ways. Millie was so great. When we arrived at the cabin she had left out wine and a cheese tray along with an anniversary card for us. She was very helpful while giving us plenty of space. On our 3rd day there she brought us muffins and my husband a piece of cake for his birthday! He was loving it. We loved the hot tub and had a fire at the fire pit one night. This a great place to go and relax. We loved it and we will definitely be going back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go! We spent one "family bonding" week in this chalet with our two teenaged kids. At first, kids were unhappy because of the lack of cell phone signal (no texting - finally!) and limited internet access (only dial up service available). Flat panel TV is there but we limited the viewing. Kids gradually got used to seclusion and serenity of this place and towards the end of the stay they did not really miss any of those electronic gadgets at all. The chalet is beautifully furnished and recently remodeled with all amenities with the exception of the dishwasher (which would be an overkill at this place, in our opinion). It was clean and well maintained. The outdoor activities are plentiful; biking, hiking, white water rafting, swimming, fishing, edible mushrooms picking - to name a few. After one week of vigorous activities our scars (unlike tattoo) can tell the stories! The owners (who live up the hill somewhere - are there, but you cannot really see them) went out of the way to make our stay a pleasant experience. We would find some "goodies" each and every day on the porch, either from their kitchen or their garden. They provided valuable information about shopping and restaurants in the area. Although we cooked in the chalet every evening (it's a waste of money to go out and eat with teenagers) we found the best restaurants in nearby Bryson City. Walmart was a short drive from the chalet. We can recommend this place to anyone who, as stated in the heading, wants to get away from it all!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Clean, well maintained, nicely decorated mountain cabin with loft, deck, hot tub and fire pit! The owners (nearby) are the kindest, nicest people we have ever rented from...leaving us goodies and offering us anything we needed to help make our vacation special! We hope to return soon! We loved the location...secluded and private... yet close to whitewater rafting, ziplining, hiking, swimming and horseback riding! We'd definitley recommend this property to others!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was our first time staying here and we will never stay anyplace else. Millie and Jack were great host and respected our privacy. Millie was ever-present when needed for service, directions or suggestions for the many available activities and entertainment nearby. The little surprise gifts and treats were amazing. The cabin is secluded well maintained and spacious. We are planning a return trip for the whole family. The pictures don't do the cabin justice. It will sleep 6 easily and more if needed. If you are looking for a getaway for the whole family with wholesome activities nearby or just a getaway for two, we whole-heartedly recommend this place.
