My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in mid-September - our 45th wedding anniversary. We found the home to be comfortable without being fussy, immaculate without being intimidating, and amply stocked without being cluttered. We were even provided with towels for our dog! Brenda, the owner, lives next door. We only saw her on our arrival and departure but felt free to call on her if we needed anything. We spent most of our time with our dog at Geneva State Park, which is approximately 3 miles away. We walked along the no-swimming beaches while he swam to his heart's content. We dined out by choice as everything we needed, including a grill, was available to us. Brenda suggested a delightful Italian restaurant where we ate one night, and we found an almost as enjoyable seafood restaurant for the other night. Brenda has compiled large notebooks filled with literature describing other numerous places to go and things to see in the area, for those with more time than we had.
Owner response:We like to see visitors celebrating personal special events. This area is rich is diverse activities which appeal to many different interests. Over the years we have indeed compiled large binders containing information of interest to visitors that is well within easy driving distance of the home. We're always happy when we can make your stay as wonderful as possible.

On a scale of 1-10, it is an 11. Everything was clean, beautiful and quiet. The owner was super nice...she lives next door but respected our privacy and we only saw her at check in and check out. Not sure what else to say.....everything was perfect.
Owner response:Was glad the home was available for this family "retreat" before sons go off to college. We are happy to welcome "last minute" weekend reservations subject to availability.

This was such a nice house. The place was spotless and it had everything we needed - LOTS of towels, pots & pans, sand toys. The lake was a very short walk from the house. Huge family room. The owner even has everything you need even if you are traveling with a baby - high chair, pack & play, a stroller (which came in handy since we forgot to throw ours in the car). And the step stool came in handy as well. Such a beautiful little neighborhood and the owner is so nice.
Owner response:We love it when families just "enjoy the home, park, beach, and quiet neighborhood." - Yes, this is a quiet neighborhood and there really are no commercial establishments within walking distance; therefore, no distractions for either Mom or Dad, children, or extended family and friends. We really have tried to stock the home with books, games, (for both children and adults), puzzles, videos, and Playstation videogames. Plus, we've got horseshoes, bocce ball, and even miniature horseshoes and yard games for the little ones. It's great when the weather cooperates and everyone can enjoy the private park and private beach (small, but adequate.) Yes, it is definitely a "retreat" for the entire family.

My best friend and I decided it was high time for a GIRLS ONLY getaway.. no husbands, no kids.. just us, a ton of food and drink! We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days in June. Our biggest goal was to not leave the house for any reason during our stay. We both kind of figured that wouldn't be feasible, even if we packed everything we could fit in our vehicles (and we did too) - because you always forget something or think you need something additional. Well to our great surprise and delight, we didn't have to leave once. Brenda's house is amazingly beautiful and so comfortable. She has thought of EVERYTHING to make staying there feel as if you've never left home (although so much quieter! hahahaa!) The beds were so comfortable, the breeze coming in off the lake was heavenly, no need to even turn on the A/C and we did have a couple hot days. The back patio is secluded enough that we were comfortable enough to lounge out there in our PJs and not worry about scaring anyone if they saw us. HA! Every cooking tool, utensil, pot and pan was there waiting for us. The towels were huge and fluffy, the linens crisp and clean. The house was spotless and spacious. It was a totally relaxing vacation and although we love our kids and husbands SO MUCH we did NOT want to leave! We've already planned our vacation for next year - can't wait to go back! And I have to add, Brenda is a lovely woman. She is so nice to talk with and she really cares about the people who stay there. I had told her we were having a few girlfriends over for dinner one night and she was tickled about it. Even told me that if we needed any additional items, dishes, spices, etc. to just let her know and she'd loan us whatever we needed (we didn't need anything as the house is fully stocked!). Seriously, how wonderful is that? Just an all around fantastic getaway. :) I would recommend staying to all of my friends and family, for sure. :) Thank you for 4 wonderful days, Brenda! xoxo
Owner response:It is such a pleasure to see friends come together from different parts of the country to meet for a getaway retreat. We really enjoy meeting everyone and it is great when people tell us they want to return. Yes, we really do mean it when we want to make available all the amenities necessary for a great vacation for our guests. We appreciate suggestions from all guests and this time, we added two more cookie sheets to the kitchen inventory! We've been so fortunate to have such interesting and friendly people stay in our Madison home and we always look forward to returning guests!

Our family of four & dog had a great vacation during our week at Lake Erie. We loved the spacious home with open areas for family fun as well as bedrooms for privacy. The lake is just across the street and beautiful. It is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood that is quite lovely for walking and super sunsets at the private lake side. We did our swimming at the near-by state park beach only a few minutes away by car. We picked strawberries several times, observed wildlife at the Nature Preserve an easy 10min walk, rode bikes, went to a Historial Museum in Plainesville as well as played games and did puzzles at home. The owner was a fantastic hostess, getting us anything we needed. The place was spotless and we simply had a fantastic time!!!!
Owner response:As families come to stay with us, we try to obtain any special things the family would enjoy to make their vacation even more pleasant. We are able to obtain bikes in just about any number, and size to accommodate family members for biking excursions. We recommend perusing through our two very large binders of "Things to do" and "Places to Go" within easy driving distance. Checking the binders at the beginning of your vacation allows you to plan "one tank trips" to satisfy the interests of those in your party. We're always here to provide any additional assistance to guests are are not familiar with the area and who desire suggestions for things to do from the information provided.

Four of us stayed at this rental from 3/1/11 - 5/31/11. Although our visit was not a vacation we were working at the Nuclear Plant this home provided a great relaxation upon our return from a long day. The house is immaculate, the owner very accomodating and helpful. We enjoyed the lake with our dog after arriving home and we were very happy with everything in the home! Its immaculate, very functional and could always enjoy each others privacy with the layout of the home! We would love to come back!
Owner response:We always enjoy hosting employees of our local Nuclear Power plant every two years. Yes, although the home is listed as "vacation" - It is designed to be a fully functional residence with all necessary residential amenities available. Ths home layout does provide both privacy in the bedroom wing and space for socialization in the large family room area complete with fireplace. We always look forward to returning Power Plant employees every two years. Every effort is made to make sure the home has everything a family needs to actually "live" in the home for whatever time is needed.

My husband and I met another couple here for a long weekend. Between us, we have 4 kids under 5! The house is beautiful and so clean. It was big enough that we could put the kids to bed and stay up and talk or watch TV. The owner was so accomodating, making sure we had a Pack and Play for the baby, a high chair, booster seats and even beach toys and board games! Honestly, I can't think of anything we needed that wasn't there at this lovely little house. The private beach access and park was right across the street, so we didn't have to drive anywhere. There was plenty to do right there at the house with movies, games and a nice outdoor patio with a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows. If you come stay here, bring the whole family, your swimsuits and food, that's all you need! There are even beach towels! Thank you so much, Brenda, we hope to see you again!
Owner response:It was such fun to watch the sidewalk/driveway "artists" with their beautiful chalk drawings. It has been a while since small children have been here and it was so refreshing to see them having a good time along with their Moms and Dads. Wish you could have stayed longer and hope to see you again next year ! This is a very quiet neighborhood and ideal for small children. We do try to have entertainment ready for inside fun when the occasional "rainy days in Ohio" come along. One suggestion that was made: Make sure all swimmers have "water sox" as the lake does have a somewhat rocky footing, depending on how the weather has been and how much sand (or lack of) is on the beach and in the water!

My husband and I enjoyed our 4 weeks' visit so much we are coming back this year. We have a smalll dog and birds, all were welcomed and there was good space in the house that was out of the mainstream for the birds and a great park across the street for walking the dog. The house is extremely clean, good appliances, The owner lives nearby, is very helpful and has lots of info regarding local attractions, as well as Ohio in general. Lots of great bird watching in this area, a fun, local, privately owned train ride for kids and adults, many local wineries with outside dining as well as restaurants along the Lake with outside dining. The Morley Library, close to this location, has an excellent genealogy reference room. Good interstate access, too.
Owner response:We love it when guests discover or let us know about places of interest that we previously hadn't included in our binders of "Things to do and Places to go" within easy driving distance. We hadn't even thought that such a thing as "bird rescue" for private citizens even existed. We were introduced to beautiful birds with wonderful "happy ending" rescues.

This will be our third summer staying in this house. It is very comfortable and like a home away from home. It is well appointed and has everrything you need to live in it comfortably. The owner is friendly and cares about you enjoying your stay. It is also nice in the hot weather to be so close to Lake Erie. I recomend it highly
Owner response:It's wonderful to have guests return from year to year. As always, guest suggestions for little "extras" make this home what it is today. Guest satisfaction is our most important priority!

Great location close to the lake in a quiet neighborhood. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Complete kitchen, outside grill and spacious patio. House is very clean with lots of room!
Owner response:We always ask guests if there is anything else we could add or provide to make their stay even more pleasant. Two large binders are filled to the brim with categorized local points of interest. Very easy to design drive-it-yourself tours for any number of special interests. We'll be happy to help you design your "one tank trips" to make your stay as pleasantly memorable as possible.
