There was quite a bit of welcomed snow during our six weeks’ stay; and the home owner was diligent about keeping our drive clear, which was very much appreciated. . There is no garage, so it was quite helpful to not have to shovel as well as clean the car. The laundry room, nice and comfy and warm from the gas heater, was a joy of a place to hang cold coats which were toasty warm and ready to put on for the next outing. On the downside, communication was quite a problem There was a period of time when both the phones and the internet service were poor to non existent and the homeowner had the cable company boost the router, which was somewhat helpful to the internet service, but the phone continued to have static on and off during the stay. There was no cell phone coverage in that location, so we were dependent on the house phone, and had to purchase an answering machine so we didn’t miss calls. Internet connections were marginal. Our Verizon Hotspot was not serviced in that location, so we had to use the house cable. The router is in one bedroom, where there is very good reception, but service in the main part of the house, even after the router was boosted, remained slow and spotty and frustrating. The home owner apparently felt all had been done that could be done to get better service to the house.

Owner response: I do apologize for B's frustration. The service provided, Time Warner, immediately did everything humanly possible to correct the situation. The situation seems resolved as the current guest at the home states the service is fine. Again, I apologize.

My husband and I stayed at this charming cottage, which had everything we needed, for a week. The house is in a very safe and quiet, beautiful neighborhood - there were no cars zooming by or boom boxes blaring - there was virtually no traffic. The house is about 50 paces from Lake Erie and a small park with bar-b-que grills and picnic tables. The house is spacious, clean and equipped with everything we needed from blow dryer to washer & dryer. The furniture was comfy, has internet reception was good but a little slow; the only negative we found was cell phone reception is a little spotty. There is a land line in the house which my husband and I appreciated having as we were able to call his 96 year old mum to check on her every day. Brenda, the owner, lives next door and is a lovely woman who is a joy to talk to, is very accomodating and helpful, and respects her guests privacy. Thank you, Brenda for sharing your lovely home with us, we hope to be back!

We had a fabulous time at your home. It was absolutely beautiful, and homey. The children had so much dun playing with Ozzy and talking with Brenda. Brenda is a wonderful person. She made sure we had everything we needed. We will be coming back again next year.

This house is charming, immaculate, and very comfortable. The fireplace was lovely for this time of year. We enjoyed movies in the evening, but the internet is a bit spotty. Overall, a beautiful house and exceptionally quiet get away location. The proximity to dozens of wineries made this the ideal spot for our first visit to Ohio's wine country. Thank you!

This vacation far exceeded our expectations. The house itself is charming, well furnished, spacious, exceptionally clean, and equipped with everything we could need. The location is beautiful...a very quiet tree-lined street, with a mix of vacationers and year-round residents. From the end of the driveway, you can see Lake Erie. The lake, a lovely park, and beach is about a 30-second walk. In addition, a public beach area and bird-watching sanctuary are two minutes away. In addition, food shopping, gas stations, restaurants, medical care and veterinary care are minutes away. The renter could not have been more friendly or accommodating. There were hugs all around at check-out time. In short, if we have the opportunity to come back...we will.

Owner response: We just love it when "snowbirds" from the west and south return to this area to enjoy friends and family. It is even better when guests enjoy it so much that they want to return. We are always pleased to welcome "return guests" from year to year and we do try to make every effort to provide amenities to insure a pleasant stay for our guests and "guests of our guests."

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in mid-September - our 45th wedding anniversary. We found the home to be comfortable without being fussy, immaculate without being intimidating, and amply stocked without being cluttered. We were even provided with towels for our dog! Brenda, the owner, lives next door. We only saw her on our arrival and departure but felt free to call on her if we needed anything. We spent most of our time with our dog at Geneva State Park, which is approximately 3 miles away. We walked along the no-swimming beaches while he swam to his heart's content. We dined out by choice as everything we needed, including a grill, was available to us. Brenda suggested a delightful Italian restaurant where we ate one night, and we found an almost as enjoyable seafood restaurant for the other night. Brenda has compiled large notebooks filled with literature describing other numerous places to go and things to see in the area, for those with more time than we had.

Owner response: We like to see visitors celebrating personal special events. This area is rich is diverse activities which appeal to many different interests. Over the years we have indeed compiled large binders containing information of interest to visitors that is well within easy driving distance of the home. We're always happy when we can make your stay as wonderful as possible.

On a scale of 1-10, it is an 11. Everything was clean, beautiful and quiet. The owner was super nice...she lives next door but respected our privacy and we only saw her at check in and check out. Not sure what else to say.....everything was perfect.

This was such a nice house. The place was spotless and it had everything we needed - LOTS of towels, pots & pans, sand toys. The lake was a very short walk from the house. Huge family room. The owner even has everything you need even if you are traveling with a baby - high chair, pack & play, a stroller (which came in handy since we forgot to throw ours in the car). And the step stool came in handy as well. Such a beautiful little neighborhood and the owner is so nice.

Owner response: We love it when families just "enjoy the home, park, beach, and quiet neighborhood." - Yes, this is a quiet neighborhood and there really are no commercial establishments within walking distance; therefore, no distractions for either Mom or Dad, children, or extended family and friends. We really have tried to stock the home with books, games, (for both children and adults), puzzles, videos, and Playstation videogames. Plus, we've got horseshoes, bocce ball, and even miniature horseshoes and yard games for the little ones. It's great when the weather cooperates and everyone can enjoy the private park and private beach (small, but adequate.) Yes, it is definitely a "retreat" for the entire family.

My best friend and I decided it was high time for a GIRLS ONLY getaway.. no husbands, no kids.. just us, a ton of food and drink! We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days in June. Our biggest goal was to not leave the house for any reason during our stay. We both kind of figured that wouldn't be feasible, even if we packed everything we could fit in our vehicles (and we did too) - because you always forget something or think you need something additional. Well to our great surprise and delight, we didn't have to leave once. Brenda's house is amazingly beautiful and so comfortable. She has thought of EVERYTHING to make staying there feel as if you've never left home (although so much quieter! hahahaa!) The beds were so comfortable, the breeze coming in off the lake was heavenly, no need to even turn on the A/C and we did have a couple hot days. The back patio is secluded enough that we were comfortable enough to lounge out there in our PJs and not worry about scaring anyone if they saw us. HA! Every cooking tool, utensil, pot and pan was there waiting for us. The towels were huge and fluffy, the linens crisp and clean. The house was spotless and spacious. It was a totally relaxing vacation and although we love our kids and husbands SO MUCH we did NOT want to leave! We've already planned our vacation for next year - can't wait to go back! And I have to add, Brenda is a lovely woman. She is so nice to talk with and she really cares about the people who stay there. I had told her we were having a few girlfriends over for dinner one night and she was tickled about it. Even told me that if we needed any additional items, dishes, spices, etc. to just let her know and she'd loan us whatever we needed (we didn't need anything as the house is fully stocked!). Seriously, how wonderful is that? Just an all around fantastic getaway. :) I would recommend staying to all of my friends and family, for sure. :) Thank you for 4 wonderful days, Brenda! xoxo

Owner response: It is such a pleasure to see friends come together from different parts of the country to meet for a getaway retreat. We really enjoy meeting everyone and it is great when people tell us they want to return. Yes, we really do mean it when we want to make available all the amenities necessary for a great vacation for our guests. We appreciate suggestions from all guests and this time, we added two more cookie sheets to the kitchen inventory! We've been so fortunate to have such interesting and friendly people stay in our Madison home and we always look forward to returning guests!
