My friends and I stayed here last weekend for 4 days. The pics dont do justice for this place. It definitely surpassed my expectations. In the Weeks leading up to the trip I called the owner numerous times to ask questions and he answered the phone everyone and answered every question that I had. We had the opportunity to meet the owner during our stay and I must say he is very respectful and easy to work with. There was a total of 8 guys that stayed here and we all agreed that this place exceeded our expectations. The inside is beautiful and has everything needed just as if it was my own house. It gives you the most beautiful views if the lake and there is a nice sandy beach right out front with a fire pit. I will definitely be coming back with my family.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

I wanted to thank Paul again for opening his doors to Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was once again a great stay and experience as usual. We stayed at this cabin last year for our Family Reunion and continued on this year. We had a blast this year doing the 12 mile trek on the bike trail with the whole family. Us older folks couldn't keep up with the young'ns and their bicycles but we held our ground......with mopeds of course. We had some crazy teenagers jumping the cliff for "Facebook pictures", oh the things kids do for a thumbs up. The fishing was great on the Superior and the water was unusually calm this time around, but so was the weather. No complaints here about the water activity as we will always take a calm day over a windy one on the big blue. There was plenty of firewood for the children to roast their marshmallows for their sm'ores and to keep everyone warm around the campfire for those chilly nights and ghost stories. Plenty of household toiletries and what not to keep the kids clean during the day from running outside and playing in the huge yard and the picnic tables are always a plus when firing up the BBQ grill. The kids...let me re-state that...No one wanted to leave but as we all know "good things must come to an end"....Until next year that is. Thanks Paul and we hope to see you again next year or maybe even sooner. Sincerely, PingRecommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My family had never visited the Great Lakes area so we tried Madeline Island in the Fall of 2012. What a treat! The cabin was perfect and the turning trees were gorgeous. The price was more than fair. My wife doesn't want to go anywhere else now. Thanks so much for the great memories and the use of your beautiful cabin. My wife and I came to Madeline Island over our honeymoon in early August and unfortunately ran into some trouble when dealing with the owner’s of Ben’s Cabin. After the honeymoon, the owner of Uncle Tom’s cabin caught wind of the situation and immediately reached out to me to offer his gorgeous cabin for a weekend, free of charge to make things right. We're grateful considering he didn't need to do that for us :) My wife and I and a two of our close friends spent a weekend at Uncle Tom’s cabin and it was a great weekend indeed! On top of a stellar kitchen and common area, the deck had a great eastward view of the lake. We spent our mornings drinking coffee watching the sunrise. Thanks again to Uncle Tom's Cabin for turning a sour situation around by letting us stay in his wonderful Madeline Island cabin. Cheers!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words Manny ! It was our pleasure. Your property and home face due south with expansive views to the South, East and West. Sunrises are the best at Uncle Tom's. The past owner named the place "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and shortly after our purchase we started just calling it "Uncle Tom's". The neighbors Uncle Tom built the place in the late 80's early 90's and we feel lucky to own it and love to share it with others. It was great to meet everyone and thanks for the cocktail !

My family was extremely pleased with the accommodations at Uncle Tom's Cabin. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The main kitchen on the 2nd floor is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, toweling and is able to handle a lot of cooks. Two refrigerators on the 2nd floor was very helpful to handle all the food you will likely be transporting. Two more refrigerators in the garage are at your disposal. The big charcoal grills also come in very handy for a large crowd. Don't overpack on clothing, the 2nd floor washer/dryer is so convenient. Bathrooms with showers on every floor. The grounds are very well kept and if you've got a dog, the cabin sits on plenty of land for long tosses. The beach across the street is pretty well secluded, we felt like it was our own. There is not a dock, fyi. Great firewood available if you love the smell of a campfire. When we arrived, the cabin was spotless and ready for us. The first floor screen porch is a great place to hide from the sun, with a great book. Cell phone coverage is very spotty-we had three different carriers among us, and still was 50/50 prospect. Wifi is good. If you have handicap issues, doing the steps to the 2nd floor gathering area may be problematic. My 80 yr old parents managed using the interior stairs. The garage entry to the 2nd floor has a well lit stairwell. 1st floor bath could use safety bars in bathroom. There is AC on the third floor. Plenty of windows to capture breezes. Our intent for this stay was to just hang out and relax. The most recreating done was hanging out on the beach and some fishing with Blackhawk Charters out of Bayfield. Cool bar in town, Tom's Burned Down Cafe is worth the drive into town. Overall, the place looks like the pictures and I have already made recommendations to friends and coworkers. If you want to get everyone in one place and enjoy the remoteness Madeline Island can offer, this cabin will suit your needs nicely.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This house was wonderful for our family of 14. We built lots of great memories and hope to do it again when the African branch of our family returns in 2013! What a plus to have 6 (yes, SIX) refrigerators! We loved having the big yard and the paved driveway for the kids to ride bikes. Thanks, Paul, for a great place to connect with our family.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This cabin is amazing. It is very clean and spacious. Paul is very kind and curteous and a great help to answer any questions you may have. The Island itself is a beautiful treasure tucked into Lake Superior! I highly recommend staying in this cabin if you are looking for a place to relax and get away. We brought our parents, brothers and sisters (and their familes) ,our children and granddaughter and no one felt crowded. My parents have difficulties with steps so the bottom part of the rental was great for them and they felt very much at home and included in everything we did. We had a great time having BBQ, playing football and softball in the spacious front yard, as well as spending time relaxing in the swings. We especially enjoyed going to the beach each day that was located just across the road. If you do visit you MUST visit Karen and Captian Mike at Adventure Vacations downtown LaPointe and go on the 5 hr boat tour that includes kayaking the sea caves on Sand Island. Its breathtaking! We will treasure all of our family memories for a lifetime!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Just returned from Madeline Island, and it was the most relaxing, carefree time. Being a travel agent, I have traveled all over the world, and I have to say this is one of my favorite spots I have experienced. The home is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Every amenity was available We grilled, played bocce ball, and just relaxed on the lake shore. Wonderful beach just out your front door!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
