Imagine a private villa overlooking a sparkling sea, surrounded by verdant jungle. No cars, no discos, nothing but the sounds of the ocean’s calm waters lapping gently against the shore, the trilling of birds, and the sounds of the jungle.
Casa Selva del Mar offers two small private villas on the sea, a coral reef 100 feet from shore, and 18 acres of lush, pristine rainforest with walking trails. Our villas are surrounded by lush flowering gardens, and are perched on a bluff overlooking the sea, where they receive cooling ocean breezes. (NOTE: Due to the limitations of the VRBO template, we were required to identify the number of bedrooms and bathrooms as "TWO." However: Each villa has only ONE bedroom and ONE bathroom. There are TWO villas, hence the number TWO for bedrooms and bathrooms.)
Where is Casa Selva del Mar and how do you get there?
We are located on Isla Cristobal, the third largest island in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago on the Caribbean Coast of Panama. We’re 15 minutes by boat from Bocas Town (Isla Colon) and the airport, which is on Isla Colon, the main island of the archipelago.
Bocas is serviced by two airlines, with three flights a day to and from Panama City, and two flights per day to and from David. Panama City is an international hub and is served by several airlines, including COPA Air (the Panamanian Airline), TACA, Continental, Delta, American, Iberia, and others.
Amenities:
Our solar powered (with backup generator) villas are uniquely constructed for the environment, with doors on four sides that can be fully opened to the screened, wrap-around deck, with gorgeous ocean and jungle views. Each villa is beautifully furnished with teak accessories. Each villa has a high quality US made orthopedic Queen bed and a double size hide-a-bed. Each villa can sleep up to four people, but its perfect for a couple.
Besides all the natural beauty of the jungle and the sea, each villa is equipped with satellite TV with all the premium channels, and we have an extensive library of movies and television shows on DVD. Your villa also is equipped with a laptop computer with wireless broadband internet access, and a prepaid cell phone you can use to send and receive phone calls to and from anywhere in the world (You buy the phone cards.)
And of course, we offer daily maid service (except on Sundays).
Airport pickup and return to Bocas airport is included.
Food and Drink:
The villas have full sized kitchens, fully equipped with everything you need to cook and eat. Upon arrival, we will take you to the local gourmet grocery where you can stock up on anything you like. Continental breakfast fixings (coffee, tea, juices, bread, muffins, cereals and milk) are on us. We also offer family style dinners in our home at reasonable rates; by appointment. We love to eat and we love to cook, and you’ll delight in our barbecued marinated chicken and steaks, garlic salmon or shrimp, pesto/garlic/eggplant/tomato pasta, papaya pork chops and other delicious homemade meals.
Or, we can take you by boat to one of many restaurants on neighboring island, or to an excellent, moderately priced restaurant right here on Isla Cristobal at Dolphin Bay.
Activities:
What can you do to occupy your time at Casa Selva del Mar? You can swim in the sparkling sea, float around on one of our rafts, or go snorkeling (we supply the snorkel and fins) at the coral reef right in front of your villa. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can explore the island coastline in one of our kayaks. If you’d like to do some scuba diving, we’ll take you to town where you can take a scuba day tour, and pick you up in town at the end of the day. Or we can take you to a nearby ranch where horseback riding is available.
Or, you can go for a jungle walk on the paths in our 18 acres of pristine rainforest. If you’re lucky, you might see a sloth or an anteater.
Or you can just laze around on the dock, or in a hammock on the deck of your villa, and choose one of hundreds of books from our extensive library, or watch the latest HBO movie or one of our large collection of movies and TV shows on DVD.

Excellent place to relax and enjoy the beauty

If you want to party at the bar all night this is not the place for you; however, it you want to really unwind, relax and enjoy the beauty around you this place would be hard to beat. We just spent three weeks snorkeling, kayaking and hiking and listening to the birds singing in the jungle while we lounged in the hammock on a beautiful deck. Issie and Susan were wonderful hosts. Even though we were on an isolated island we never felt that way. Our host took us to town many times and took us on many other excurisions where only the locals go. Susan's banana bread for breakfest was the best. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax and get rid of the stress. Thanks for the sailing and the lobster. Vee and Sharon
