Come stay with us at Hawaiian Style Vacation Rentals. Experience real Hawaii away from the city and nestled in Kona Coffee country. Wake up to gentle trade winds, birds singing and 100% Kona coffee grown on our farm. Stay in your own secluded Tree Top apartment. Lounge on your lanai or swim in the ocean with dolphins and sea turtles.
We are located just 15 miles south of sunny Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, only minutes from one of the world's best snorkel and shore dive sites, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, the Place of Refuge. Our farm is a great base from which to explore the Kona Coast as well as Volcanoes National Park. To view our availability calendar as well as to find more information on our rental, scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the link under 'Links to more information'.
We grow 100% Kona coffee on our farm. We have several orchards organized in rows on the hill side as well as several plantings in the shade of tall macadamia nut trees. Our farm is lined with nearly 200 macadamia nut trees that provide us with a bountiful harvest. In addition to the coffee and nuts, we have many varieties of fruit trees.
We have Golden Globe mangos, Hayden mangos, papayas, pineapples, guava, passionfruit, lychee, cherimoya, soursop, lime, sour orange, pomegranate, avocado, bananas, figs, coconuts, monstera, rose apples, custard apples and noni. We also grow cocoa and kukui nut. Our farm features unique lava rock out croppings as well as beautiful varieties of palm trees and flowers.
Every guest is treated to a tour of the farm. We will show you how we process the coffee and care for the trees. When you arrive, you will have a bouquet of freshly picked flowers as well as an assortment of in season fruits from our farm.
The Tree Top Apartment is a private second floor apartment with ocean and mountain views. The apartment is completely separate and private from the owner's home. The cathedral ceilings, sky light, stained glass window and sliding glass door to the lanai invite in the sun and outdoors to the apartment. At approximately 750 square feet, the apartment accommodates four people. Our farm is at a comfortable 1000 foot elevation so air conditioning is not needed. We are blessed with warm sunny days and evenings perfect for sleeping.
There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. The two bedrooms and the kitchen have ceiling fans. The living room has a TV, DVD player, VCR and CD player. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals while you are in paradise. We have dedicated wireless high speed internet access. You have easy parking next to your own private entrance. We also have boogie boards, umbrellas and beach chairs for you to borrow.

Owner's Map of Captain Cook
Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we moved to the Big Island to live our dream of owning a coffee farm and vacation rental. We first visited Hawaii while on our honeymoon. Like most people, we fell in love with the islands and dreamed of living in paradise. For two of our visits to the Big Island, we stayed at the farm. It was our ideal home in Hawaii. We could farm coffee and macadamia nuts and run a vacation rental. When we came to the Big Island to find a place to live, we booked a rental on the farm that would become our home. We hoped to find a house to rent, but would have been happy with a condo that had a lanai for us to spend time outside. We were so excited when the owner told us he was looking to sell the farm. We knew then that is was meant to be.

Absolutely terrific place to stay in the heart of the Kona coffee belt!

We had a really good time at this property over the Xmas and NY holidays. We spent 3 nights at Sheraton down on the water and 9 nights here – and the later was incomparably better! Pros: large several-acre property, very kid-friendly, large well-equipped apartment with extremely pleasant lanai, terrific Internet speed that allows watching live video, laundry facilities on-site. Cons: some might say that the several-hundred-yard-long driveway with potholes is an issue – but it is not. No need for a 4WD, just drive it slowly with your 2WD. Do yourself a favor and stay at this property on Big Island, not some over-priced resort that lacks any character. Next time I am back in Big Island we will stay here in a heat beat! My husband and I recently stayed at this Coffee Farm in Captain Cook and had an incredible time! The owners are very nice and welcoming! We enjoyed getting up everyone morning, making our breakfast in our complete kitchen, and eating out on our balcony! The farm is beautiful and fresh fruit and amazing flowers are in full bounty! We were able to borrow a large umbrella and cooler to take with us on our daily adventures and also knew we could ask for suggestions or directions if we needed. If we return to Hawai'i, we would definitely stay here again!! You will need a car to get around- beach, town, volcano park...
Owner response:Aloha Glad you enjoyed your stay we look forward to seeing you in the future. Mahalo Todd and Kim

I stayed on the coffee-farm for two long-stay-periods already and I am looking forward to come back again. The owner Kim and Todd always give you a very warm welcome with fresh fruits and herbs from the coffee-farm – this feels like coming home. They are very helpful whenever you need them. I really like this place - it is being on a farm and very close to real Hawaiian nature with it’s nurturing abundance. All the important beaches (beautiful fishes, Wale- and Dolphin-watching (if you get up and down to the beach early), corals and turtles) are very close by. Thanks to the very friendly farm-dogs it's one of the few places on this side of the island where no chicken are waking you up at 4am. The apartment is pleasant and friendly, well maintained, clean and has all you need for a cosy, comfortable stay. Shopping possibilities are very close by too. Todd and Kim know about the good places to eat and the best coffee (for europeans) is just up road. I will be back and I can’t wait for it.

We really like this place. Ideal for long stay. Not a luxury apartment but affordable and well maintained; feels like home. The better side of it, it's on farmland and the landscape on this part of the island is just beautiful. We really enjoy the lanai since it is also the dining room with ocean view. Grocery store nearby, good restaurants too and only minutes away from Kailua Kona. We stayed here a few times and will definitely return.

This was a long-time awaited vacation for us, and wish to share our excellent experience staying at this very beautiful coffee farm. Very private with everything other than your food and swimsuits provided. Keep in mind that you will be staying away from the "tourist traps", yet close enough to the shore to visit the area beaches. The farm itself has fruit, mac nuts and flora and is located near true Hawaiin farms and local attactions and sights. How about a lei farm or the wonderful National Park "The Place of Refuge". Or pehaps nearby beaches that, when gazing out to sea, you see a "blow hole" gush and are privleged to sight a whale pod. Or green sea turtles sail by you when snorkeIing. I've told everyone back here in Minnesota about this great value and have already started saving for next year's return visit. This is not resort living, but true Hawaiiian living at it's best!
Owner response:We pride ourselves on giving people a real Hawaiian living experience at an affordable rate.
