Bormes les Mimosas has recently been selected the "Most Flowered Village of Europe," and is a four-star destination on the Cote d'Azur, the French Riviera. This medieval provençal village is on a hill, three kilometers inland from the coast, and is capped by a medieval fortress. There is a beautiful baroque church in the village, many shops and and many nice cafés and restaurants. Nearly all of the streets are for pedestrians only. The entire village is classified by the French government as a protected site, and visited by many people every year, particularly during the months of the mimosas bloom in February.

This beautiful apartment is in an 18th century building which made up the later ramparts of the village. The apartment has the advantage of being off the beaten tourist path and has drive-up possibility with limited parking. There is an unobstructed view of the ocean and coast line of Cap Benat and the islands of Levant and Porquerolles, and is three kilometers from the most beautiful beaches on the coast in the Var district. Saint Tropez is 30 minutes by car. The Bay of Breganson, where President Sarkozy has his summer residence, is the local beach with parking. Bormes is four hours from Paris by TGV fast train via Marseille.

The apartment has three spacious rooms, is 60 square meters (646 square feet) and is very charmingly furnished with some antiques and and is fully-equipped. There is a new queen-size bed in the bedroom. The new couch in the living room converts to a double bed. This living room can be closed off to become the SECOND BEDROOM and has two windows with beautiful ocean views. There is a large NEW KITCHEN with an oven + 4 burners, dishwasher and refrigerator, with an amazing view from a large door window with balcony. Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2003

I am from Los Angeles, California. I've lived in France for 24 years and married a frenchman. I am an artist, painter and amateur musician. The apartment has a good small collection of contemporary paintings.

Why the Owner Chose Bormes-les-Mimosas

Bormes is one of the only villages on the Cote d'Azur that is populated even during the winter and Fall. Most of the other pictoresque villages are vacation only and are totally vacant during the off season months. This is a place where there is a stable local population, not just second home people, and this was important to me.

The Unique Benefits of this Apartment

The spectacular view is always an inspriation. The apartment is well laid out and very comfortable. I go there to "get away from it all".

Absolutely beautiful place. For folks from the US, this place is a little hard to find, and parking is a little tricky, but once you get past all that, what a view !! All amenities were functional and new. Very nice place.

I had the pleasure of staying for 28 days during the month of July, 2011. Yes, I highly recommend staying at this 700 sq. ft. one bedroom one bath flat with the greatest direct view of theMediterranean. Bormes les Mimosas is a beautiful thriving village and is 20 Kilometers from St. Tropez and close to many beautiful medievil villages. The flat is in a winding 17th century village that is 100% locals except for you and the daily tourists. The people are great. The shoppes are superb and Bormes is the safest place on earth. The appliances, kitchen, etc. basic cable, DVD work great and are new. There is no air conditioning but during peak summer it is 55 degees at night. Nice. I recommend for maximum 3 people but is ideal for one or two persons. This area is not very handicap accessible. For the price its a home run. You will sleep very well. The owner is very responsible and organized.

Sensational experience!

My wife and I spent four months here, from January to May. Let me start with the bottom line: it was nothing short of marvelous! From the apartment itself (including interactions with the wonderful owner) to the village and its setting, we could not have asked for a more ideal combination. The apartment is even better than described at the site. Because of its floor plan, it feels much more spacious than its official 62 square meters. The living room connects to the bedroom. But when the French doors to the bedroom are opened, the main room feels bigger. In the entrance/kitchen/dining area, the clever partitioning with arched openings on the upper halves of the separating walls gives a feeling of there being additional space. Second, the apartment is very charmingly and tastefully decorated. This, together with high quality furnishings, gives the occupant the sense of being a guest in a friend’s home rather than a tenant in a rental apartment. Put simply: one feels at home. Third, the apartment is nicely equipped, and has an upscale bathroom that is a real plus! The setting is perfect. Bormes Les Mimosas is a medieval village built on a slope (and away from the beach crowds in Le Lavandou). The apartment is in the village, but pleasantly located a block away from the main street (rue Carnot) that attracts the most tourists. The kitchen and living room offer an unobstructed and breathtaking panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and les “Iles d’Or.” As the sun travels across the southern sky throughout the day, subtle changes in scenery are offered by shifting lighting! While this part of France is peppered with “les plus beaux villages de France,” Bormes is second to none for charm. The village thankfully hosts many nice quality local artisan shops and mercifully few touristy souvenir stands. On the other hand, the local butcher, charcuterie, pharmacy, épicerie, and other providers of daily essentials are not so local; grocery shopping requires a visit “down the hill.” This proved to be only a minor inconvenience, well compensated by the village’s wonderful attributes.
