Charming 18th century Auberge located in the Languedoc in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the sleepy village of Bouriege. Surrounded by vineyards, Bouriege in an area famous for its sparkling wine, Blanquette de Limoux, as well as for being in the heart of Cathar country, fourty minutes south of Carcassonne- the celebrated medieval walled city.

This three-story, four bedroom house has been lovingly restored and is furnished with local farm antiques. The old style kitchen is fully-equipped with copper pots the original old stone bread oven, five ring gas range and plenty of dishes and glasses for the largest of dinners. A chefs delight.

Behind the house is a small walled in garden, full of roses and grapevines, with a wooden bench swing and hammock as well as table and chairs. There is also a small barbeque. We often have lunch and dinner in the garden lighting the candles at night that sit nestled in the stonewall. Further down the village is another garden by a stream for games of badminton or croquet or just lazing under the cherry tree.

This is splendid walking and sight seeing country- from the hills and vineyards to the Cathar Chateaux. There is a lake 25 mins from us with wind surfing & sailing and a fresh spring water pool 20 mins from Bouriege in Alet Les Bain. A hot water spring and Spa is 25 minutes away from us in Rennes Les Bains. In the winter there is skiing in the Pyrennes (2 hrs) A visit to Barcelona is a beautiful 4 hour coastal drive. Rafting and Canoeing and Horseback riding are also available in the area.

Adjacent to the house is an artist studio, a converted two bedroom stone barn where the travellers used to keep their horses. This is also for rent (see rate below). The two properties are attached and rented together are ideal for a large house party or family reunion
