The agriturism has 4 houses, all located in the middle of the hills, 5 or 10 minutes walk from the Ghizzano Village, through olive trees. Initially, its belonged to the farmer, and thus the name “The Colonial House”. It is usual for such a house to be located at one side or in the centre of a field called “podere”. The “Podere” was a piece of land given by the owner to the peasant : the crop was divided among them in equal parts. This system was very common in the late Middle Ages and was called “Mezzadria”.
the houses were built on one side of the of land (podere). This allowed people to get to the main road easier and allowed easy access of the crop wagons to get to the market.
It was our grand grandfather who, by the middle of the 19th century, built these houses and named the places after the patron saint of the crops. Thus came to life “Casa poderale Il Monte & Santa Giulia”. Casa Poderale' San Prospero' .The Gamekeeper''s house : today called Casa Guardia . Casa poderale 'Gorgo' ,today called Villa gorgo. 4 beutifull houses eachone with his own swimmingpool and his own garden.
In order to protect and highlight the beauty of the landscape where these houses are, we did our best to preserve the original features of the structure. The beautiful landscape that you can see from the windows is still rich of wildlife that you can appreciate having long walks along the paths crossing the whole area. Biking, riding & bird watching are the other exciting sports that you may practice in this 'piece of Eden'.
WIINE AND and EXTRAVIRGIN OLIVE OIL TASTING
We are willing to make you taste the exceptional wines that we produce and that we export all over the world.
They have been highly rated from all the major wine magazines such as Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and Gambero Rosso.
The other traditional product of the family is the extravirgin and biologic oil of oil that you can tast with our wine.
The olive pressing is a cold and continuous cycle pressing within 24 hours from harvest ; we obtain a really fresh and flavoured oil of oil.
SOME MORE NOTICE ABOUT THE ESTATE: The estate currently extends over approximately 865 acres with 45 acres of vineyards, 50 acres of olive groves, 370 acres of cereals, 370 acres of wood and poplars groves. The woods are still rich of wildlife: hawks, buzzards, bee eaters, pheasants, hares and roes the t you can appreciate having long walks along the paths crossing the whole area.
GUIDED TRIP: GUIDED TRIP and TUI-NA MASSAGE
We are willing to make you a guided trip inside the estate around natural habitat, the fieldstalking about the paeasnt culture and the history of the little village. During the trip approximately three and a half hours, is included a stop and tasting of specialities of our estate and of the area.
MASSAGE
There is a nice and comfortable room dedicated exclusively to TUI-NA treatments.
TUI-NA treatments is a chinese treatment ( is like acopunture made with hands) It's usually recommended to enjoy a pleasant, relaxing and regenerating hour and also as a relief from various functional unbalances.

Il Monte is an independent first floor apartment of a restored old farmhouse, ideal to host 10 people. The name 'Il Monte', means THE MOUNT because of its location, on the top of a gentle hill from where you can enjoy a stunning panorama. It has got a living room with a big fire place, 5 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, all furnished with traditional Tuscan furniture, 4 bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, with dishwasher and a ventilated oven. In the restored stable on the ground floor, there is a table tennis, and on the other side the washing machine that you may use under request. There is a large garden all around the house and olive groves. From the swimming pool, that is 12x6 metres, you can reach an inkling of the sea. There is a well -equipped area to eat outside with a barbecue.

Summer 2009 will be the fifth consecutive year that we will spend two weeks at Il Monte, Ghizzano. We love the house and it is by popular vote of all five family members that we are returning yet again. The house is spacious, elegant but simply furnished. There is a picturesque shaded outdoor eating area with fabulous views where we enjoy most meals. The pool is large and impeccably maintained with (again) great views of the surrounding countryside. The area is populated by vineyards and olive groves and the house is on a hill top surveying these - the house is set away from the road and is blissfully quiet. The local village, Ghizzano, is walking distance and has an amazing bakery and an excellent general shop which sells most provisions. There are also weekly food markets in various of the local towns and villages. The wine produced by Tenuta di Ghizzano (the vineyard surround the house) is top quality and can be bought in the village. Pisa, Florence, Volterra and many more sightseeing destinations are within easy reach although the charms of Il Monte have kept our sightseeing trips relatively limited.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Hemos pasado 9 inolvidables dias en esta maravillosa y típica casa toscana, rodeados de unas estupendas vistas y con todo tipo de comodidades. Ha sido un placer el trato que nos ha dado Francesca, la propietaria en nuestra estancia allí, indicandonos cosas para ver, reservandonos sitios estupendos para comer, etc. Realmente para volver.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Nous y avons passé 2 semaines de parfaites vacances, entre farniente et visites. Lieu très calme et reposant car isolé des grandes villes (voiture indispensable). About the owner: Is a family property, we arrive in this area in 1370. from this moment olive oil and wine become our production. In 1950 the 'mezzadria' finsh and all the peasnt people migrate in tows to work in the industry so these houses was abandoned. So we begin to rent tese houses and to welcome people for hoildays. me and my sister Lisa we are the more comunicative of the family , cause she live in florence , is me that welcome and take care of you when you arrive in Ghizzano. I speak english good, franch really well, and spanish I understand quite all and I can speak only a little, I'm studying deutsch. I like langueges cause I love to know people coming from others country. I think that in that way you can travel staying at home. In 2010 me and a group of owners we foud an association called BELLAPECCIOLI to welcome people in the best way and create a quality path, ivolving local reastaurant, craftsmen, shops with typical products, museum and parks, so that you can move in the area with a kind of invisible guide, which will help you to appreciate the best aspect of Valdera.

Today we have 4 houses: 1 luxury villa ' VILLA GOROGO' 1 villa 'CASA GUARDIA' 1 beautifull really big house diveded in two apartments:' IL MONTE' and 'SANTA GIULIA', and 1 house diveded in two littele apartments : ' CAMINO' and 'SAN ROSPERO'
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
CASA GUARDIA is really quiet,private garden private pool, the kintchen is open on the big garden, where I love pick up the cherrys directly from the tree in printemps, and the fig in autumn.Really confortable for a group , a big family, or two little family, ground floor two bedrooms and first floor othes two bedrooms.
CAMINO is really romantic, perfect for a couple ; SAN PROSPERO is really practical and really illuminated, I 've lived there for a period, really nice for a little family, the garden is commun to both apartments, is really big and the pool is really qiuet and private.
IL MONTE is really big and confortable i usually use to have dinner with my friends in the winter time, when I have no guests cause is really confortable and the kincken is really well equipped; SANTA GIULA is romantic and usefull for a family I like to stay in the little terrace and listen the birds singing. Both have a marvellous view from the swimming pool, during the clear days the view can arrive till the see, wonderfull!! The garden is really big one side can be a game park for children and the othe side a relaxing space for adults.
