Nov. 2008:
We just got back from our terrific two weeks in Chile and I wanted to get in touch to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at Puertazul and how much we appreciated your efforts in making our stay so memorable. First of all, your property really is a little bit of paradise with the beautifully maintained gardens, the running river, the pool and hot tub, the numerous little "getaways" on the property for reading, relaxing, etc., the comfortable house itself, and the wonderful Toyita. As someone who has done a fair amount of travelling, I have to say that our week at Puertazul just may be the highlight of our various vacations. But in addition to the property itself, I also am very grateful for your guidance and tips as to things to do and your making Amaranta's services available to us. It is that combination of the property itself and your desire to make sure that your guests are taking full advantage of all that the Maipo has to offer, that makes your property unique and a real gem.
As I'm sure you know, Amaranta is invaluable and was so attentive and helpful. The horseback riding, the dinner with Mariano, Nancy's barbecue, the tours of the vineyards, etc. all add up to a truly great vacation.
Jan, 2007: I’m nor sure what refugio means in Chilean Spanish. But Puertazul for us is a Refuge… A retreat into a wecoming luxuriant garden, comfortable home, the now accustomed sound of rushing water, time to read, dine, reflect, doze…
We love the fresh morning air, lazy warm afternoons, evening paseos, flowers, We have used every dish, pot, linen and tool in the kitchen. We baked, barbecued, sauted, and sauced….And then there is smiling, incomparable Toyita, Nancy’s
“best in the world” empanadas and her delicious honey – perfect with the chilled Montes Sauvignon Blanc, the hot tub and the stars. N&R, J&J, M&A, Portand, Oregon,, USA
Jan, 2007: Puertazul! What a great place to stay. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the
pool, hot tub, views, sounds of the river and wonderful gardens.
Nancy is a great cook and very accommodating. Lemon pie – sweet! Quiche de Verduras delivered fresh, hot & early for breakfast. Also, the empanadas were scrumptious as well. We made our way to Banos Colinas and soaked in the salt water hot springs. What a treat, luxuriating whilst taking in the splendor
of the Andes. Chile – a fabulous place. H&S, BC, Canada
Jan,2007: A wonderful retreat in a beautiful setting! The carefully tended gardens were a delight - and the fresh flowers in the rooms a bonus. We all enjoyed the pools and tubs – and comfortable quarters. M&D, Alberta, Canada
Jan.2008: Great family gathering in a beautiful and peaceful place. Loved the accommodations – and had a wonderful horseback ride in the mountains – quite the views. beautiful grounds. We hiked, went horseback riding and rafting. We especially enjoyed our Chilean Barbeque prepared by Nancy
On New Years Eve! J. St.Louis Mo.
Jan., 2008: We had a great time! Rafting through Cascadas was fun – just right in terms of challenge. Horseback riding thru Amaranta was the hightlight! The views and the hacienda for lunch.
And the villas – so beautiful, relaxing – and loved all the outdoor spaces. J&E – Wilmette, SC

I fell in love with Chile 5 years ago when I vacationed in that gorgeous country - the Andes Mountains, Pacific Ocean Coast, the fabulous city of Santiago, the wine!. The people were warm and inviting. I felt very safe and comfortable and was surprised at how vibrant, open, friendly a country it was. I was (and am) so happy when I am there that I decided to buy, build and renovate some of the most breathtaking properties I have ever seen.
I now have three villas there: homeaway.com/150658, 150659, 230090. It has been a most gratifying to share my exuberance for Chile with so many folks from all around the world.
THE WEATHER! THE PEOPLE!
Because Chile is in the southern hemisphere the seasons are opposite - Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb are Chile's summer months and the weather is absolutely gorgeous. June, July & Aug - is winter, and so folks can come for world-class downhill and the best heli-skiing in South America. The climate is so enticing, it is always pleasurable to be in the city and the beach and mountains. And, for those flying from North America to South there is very often no jet lag at all!
We have many groups who come down and stay in all three of our villas. We have planned wine tours, adventure tours skiing (both downhill and helicopter), horseback riding, cooking, cultural and artisan tours. We have planned and hosted "destination weddings" and lots of honeymoons. Some people just come and stay in one of our villas and just enjoy our breathtaking ocean front villa, or our magical rafting river villa in the mountains. Some just stay in Santiago, and enjoy all the galleries, great restaurants, markets and museums. We also have planned some awesome trips for wine aficionados visiting the Casablanca and Maipo Valley Vineyards.
