Arrived Dec. 1, 2011 at Blue Hawaii and spent 5 beautiful warm months this year and plan on returning next year. The house's interior is a simple beach decor that is pleasing and comforting to the eye; it has all the modern comforts of home. The front porch view of the ocean is simply magnificient, relaxing with a good coffee and the enjoyment of watching the surfers riding the waves. The backyard pool gives you a place to sunbathe or just the warmth of the sun, which shines 90% of the time. Blue Hawaii has all the modern facilites that a person/family need to make their stay perfect. It is centrally located to shop, evening entertainment, sunbathing, walk on the beach and a day trip to Charleston. We recommend this vacation house and give it a 5 star rating.

IT WAS PERFECT!

Nine family member were happy for (11) days! Imagine that! This home provided privacy when needed and also allowed us to enjoy each other comfortably for almost (2) weeks. It was a "breeze" to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner in this specious, well-layed out home. It is clean, extremely well-stocked and the location is perfect! The balconies and pool area were lovely. The owners went out of their way to accommodate our early arrival and personal needs. Our pet was happy too! The listing is totally accurate. We did not experience any problems with any of the appliances, etc. I would highly recommend this home! We can't wait to re-book. Thank You Kelly and Jack.

We spent 10 wonderful days at the Blue Hawiian! The house was beautiful, spacious, and sooooo comfortable! In addition to that the location was perfect, the pool was heavenly and having the beach directly across the street was ideal. There is also a pier about 1 mile in each direction. And most importantly we were able to bring our four legged family members which made our vacation complete. I can't wait to do it again!

The home is laid out well and has two refrigerators that is good for more than one family. We experienced problems with the pool not filtering properly and it appeared to have a leak as we, each day, had to add water to bring it to a level that permitted the filter to function properly. We reported it to the owner but didn't get a response via phone mail. The house does not have a land line thus we had to count on contact through cell phones. The microwave touch panel was loose and it was difficult to operate. The washing machine was broken and didn't pump out water during the rinse cycle. The machine had instructions on it, which we followed to no avail. A new machine or a repair was needed. Again, we contacted the owner and got no reply and the water was still in the machine when we departed on Saturday. We have learned that renting through the owner (s) does not get the attention that you have with a realty company rental. Based on our experience we could not recommend the property.

Owner response:Unfortunately, the only call I received was about the pool and we contacted our pool service and they came out and attempted to resolve it. We recently found out there was a second leak and it has now been resolved. I never received a call about the washer then and have not had any calls about it since so I am in question of this comment but I did offer the guest a partial refund for their troubles and it was declined. Based on our other reviews, I think it is clear that we get good grades for being attentive to our guests needs and responding timely to any concerns.

We found the house to be very suitable for our large family. Although it is very close to the beach, you do have to cross a road with traffic to get to the beach. Also the view is minimal of the ocean. The other item that would be nice to mention in the advertising is the fact that there are lots of stairs. My husband has bad knees and it was difficult for him. Our family truly enjoyed the location and the swimming pool. There was enough room to spread out and have some privacy. The kitchen dishwasher and microwave both are in desperate need of replacement. Overall, it was a nice place that I would consider staying at in the future.

Owner response:Since the issues with the applicance are cosmetic, we will be taking care of repairing or replacing them in the off season. We do realize that a quality home needs to have everything in tip top shape for our guests and we strive for that. I do appreciate our guests feedback because it helps us identify maintenance issues that we may not otherwise find ourselves since we spend a limited amount of time there.

Awesome beach home - Would HIGHLY recommend!!

My family just stayed at Blue Hawaiian and this house has it all!! First, the house was very clean upon arrival and it was a nice surpise to see our sheets & towels already in the bedrooms and bathrooms for us. It has a huge open floorplan which was nice for our large family. The view of the ocean is great and can be seen even from the kitchen (which made washing dishes not so bad). The floor plan is very functional and everyone has someplace they can go for privacy. Having 2 refrigerators was a nice surpise which eliminated the need for multiple trips to the grocery store. We LOVED the pool area and the pool was always clean and sparkling. And, Jack & Kelly (owners) were great hosts, very accommodating. I can't say enough about this home - would definately recommend. I will be contacting Kelly to book for 2012 and we cannot wait...

Family Vacation celebrating Parents' 50th Anniversary

Our family of 16 really enjoyed staying at the Blue Hawaiian. This beach house has enough bedrooms and has all of the amenities we needed. It's located just across the streeet from the public beach access so it was handy going to the beach every day. Having their own pool was a big hit with the 8 grandkids! The property is well-maintained and decorated attractively. We would certainly stay there again.

The Blue Hawaiian was everything we were looking for and more. This home provided for a fabulous and memorable family vacation. The view of the ocean was wonderful. With 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths this house provided plenty of space for the entire family including family pets and three grandchildren. The pool was clean and nice and warm as we had it heated for the grandchildren. The home and grounds were well maintained. Kelly was always available by phone or email whenever we had a question. Our entire family is planning a return visit and I would highly recommend this home to family and friends. The family all agrees it was their best vacation yet!!

Snowless Winter

After spending our winter months at Blue Hawaii we cannot express our desire to return next winter. The detailed listing regarding the location, appearance, amenities, cleanliness, and maintenance are true to fact. The decor is simple and appropriate for a beach atmosphere. The front porches give you a beautiful oceanic view as well as the sight from the working kitchen. The back yard has a beautiful pool for relaxing and enjoying the rays of the winter sun and of course an occastional swim. We had relatives come down for weekends and weeks and they were very pleased overall with the house. Our grandsons came down for Spring Break and enjoyed the many attractions Surfside,Myrtle Beach and Charleston offer for the younger crowd. We have tried different restaurants with many flavors and still have not decided which is the best for the palate. We would recommend Blue Hawaii to all no matter what the age. The owners are very pleasant, accomodating and always willing to help or point you in the right direction.

Old Friends Reunion

Ten of us who have been friends for 40+ years had a wonderful reunion at the Blue Hawaiian. It was wonderfully furnished, the huge kitchen totally stocked with anything and everything except food, beds comfortable, privacy for anyone who wanted it. Being a residential neighborhood gave the place a homey feel. Lots of rain didn't dampen anything ! There's plenty of activities in the area, plus all the TV's and WiFi gave everyone something to do. The bedrooms are large with large closets and private baths... a real plus for us older folks. Nobody could be disappointed in any way in this home away from home.

There were ten of us adults; five couples who have been friends more than forty years. We unanimously agreed that we picked the perfect place. The home is more than spacious and offers enough private places for everyone. No noise between rooms even though TV's were on in several bedrooms at different times. The uncommercialized residential neighborhood added to the homey feel. The kitchen has more than anyone would need and is large enough to accommodate several people fixing a meal. When we wanted to go somewhere, everything was within easy commute. Just cannot say enough positive things about it. The furnishings, including beds, are comfortable and the decor is very nice. We're already talking about going back. Thanks, Kelly, for everything !

The Blue Hawaiian

My family and I just spent a week at the Blue Hawaiian. The location could not have been better. The pool was a great asset. The house was spacious and comfortable for us all. However, one disappointment was that the house is in dire need of a good cleaning such as dirty bedroom carpeting, dirty kitchen cabinets and drawers, dirty air conditioning vents and all upholstered furniture.

Owner response:We always do our deep cleaning and yearly maintenance in the Fall and Winter so all of those issues will be addressed shortly. That is always a risk that those who choose to vacation in September and October are taking. Because our home has been used hard by large groups each week since April, we adjust our fall rates to reflect the wear and tear that will most likely be visible. Rest assured, we will address each and every issue and anything else we find when we do our Fall inspection to ensure our guests are satisfied.

A week at the Blue Hawaiin

Fifteen of us (thirteen maximum on any night) just spent a wonderful week at the Blue Hawaiian in Surfside Beach. We loved having separate baths for each bedroom. And the outdoor pool was the kids' favorite spot (also good was that the pool was cleaned regularly). The quick walk to the beach made this property almost as good as a beachfront property but without the added cost! Only downsize was the cost of extras (i.e. sheets and towels; carriers; etc.). Most extras seemed too expensive for what we would have gotten. Overall, however, we think this home offers a great value for a larger family or groups of families.

Owner response:We do offer the extras to make your vacation complete and those are offerred at cost since we rent them from a local equipment rental company which delivers and picks up at the property.

Amazing Location

This was the first time that we had rented a house for 16 people and 1 small dog, but this house was perfect and handled the multiple families extremely well. The photos on the website very accurately showed the functionality of the house. The kids enjoyed the pool very much and just being so close to the beach was great. We also visited the Surfside Pier where some of our folks went parasailing as well as the night we went to Garden City pier. This house is located in a great location, close to the beach, grocery stores, etc. We also went to Sara J's one evening, and the food was great. It is only 1 1/2 away. We would definitely stay here again. Kelly was great to work with.

Pure relaxation!!

This was the absolute best vacation we have had in quite a few years!!!! We have a 4 year old, 18 month old, and a 6 year old min-pinscher "baby" so relaxing AND vacation are typically unheard of to us! Kelly and Jack are absolutely terrific and their home is gorgeous!!!! For those of you looking for "toddler safe" this home is perfect....outlet covers galore!! The beach is just across the street, so pulling a wagon stuffed with toys is very easy.....as well as being able to return for a quick "potty break"!! Although, we did not use the pool, it is beautiful and truly adds to the ambience. Our favorite thing to do was to sip coffee every morning on the front porch overlooking Ocean Blvd and either "people watching" or just staring at the crashing waves!!! On the downside, I would not recommend "Bubba's Fish" In Surfside Beach near the pier - the food was AWFUL!!! Sara J's was very good and about 5 mins south on Atlantic Ave, I believe. Also, the local Kroger has GREAT produce and rotisserie chickens for $3.99....who needs to cook on vacation, right??!!! Thank you Kelly and Jack for a wonderful vacation!!! We look forward to returning in either October or November :-)!!!!!!

Amazing Week in Surfside Beach!

I rented this home for a family vacation April 2010. Not only was the house beautiful and immaculately maintained, it was perfectly located. We loved being steps away from the ocean. The layout of the home is perfect for families and friends staying together, you will never feel on top of each other. This home is very tastefully decorated and is very well equipped with all the things you need thoughout you stay. The private pool was a wonderful bonus and made the kids trip. The house is located in a very peaceful & family friendly area. Even our dogs had the time of their lives and are missing their walks on the beach. I'd highly recommend this property. The rates are very reasonable for how amazing this house is, and the entire experience made our vacation. I'll certainly look up this owner and property in the future when we travel back to the Myrtle Beach Area. I will never want to stay anywhere else. This is the place you should rent. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Could not ask for better!!! Love having the oceanview from our balconys without having to be beachfront - very short walk to the beach. Loved having our own private pool in the back also. The open floor plan and all the space was perfect. Up to date appliances and lots of counter space. Also Surfside Beach itself has many nice homes that are newer than other beaches close by and great restaurants at the pier. The beach there is a shell hunters dream. Highly recommend - we plan to go back. Also, thanks for allowing our 2 small dogs.

We stayed here for 2 months and enjoy the area very much. The house is lovely and Kelly and Jack were very accomadating in any of our requests, which were few. We especially enjoyed the pool and the closeness to the beach. I also like the fact that this house can be rented to pet owners and the area is a very nice area to walk your pet. Everyone who visited us were very impressed with the house and its size and the fact that all shopping and restaurants were easy to get to. We had a great time.

This is the second year in a row our family has booked from Kelly. She has always been a delight to deal with and very accommodating. The house is fantastic and in a very convienient location. Close to grocery, gas, restaurants and golf. Located directly across from the ocean it was very easy to bring kids back to use the pool when tired of the sand and salt. Looking forward to returning. The house was great and access to the beach was right across the street. We enjoyed the pool too. Area is great for riding bikes and walking. South 10 mins. is Merrils Inlet and North 10 mins. is Myrtle Beach - location of the house was perfect. If we plan another family trip, we would definitely return to this house.

A little slice of heaven...

Conveniently located, pet friendly, family-oriented! What more could you ask for? Our two-year old granddaughter loved watching movies on the DVD player and swimming in the warm pool. She also loved the play park that was within walking distance. The grown-ups enjoyed the gourmet kitchen and whirlpool tub, not to mention the covered parking. Great when you’re loading clubs in the trunk for a round of golf or returning from a trip to the grocery store. Our black lab was especially fond of the home’s close proximity to the beach. Blue Hawaiian is the perfect get-away spot for people of all ages and dogs, too!

Blue Hawaiian is a wonderful place, beautifully appointed and maintained. The pictures posted in the listings are quite nice, and the experience of first walking through the door is very impressive. The place is beautiful. Its location is excellent, with an ocean view in a great part of the beach,and close enough to businesses without being "busy". Kelly and Jack, the landlords are friendly and very accommodating. My wife and I have stayed there for the past two winters, and though there's no place like home, this place comes close.

My husband and I just returned from a weeks vacation at Surfside Beach and we stayed at this (Blue Hawaiian) home. We were exceptionally pleased with the location and with Kelly's lovely home. The furnishings are beautiful and the house is well maintained and very clean. Everything you might need is provided. You won't regret spending your vacation there. We normally stay in N. Myrtle or main Myrtle, but never again. I loved the quiet, family atmosphere at Surfside. It is mostly all two and three-story lovely homes. Murrell's Inlet and wonderful restaurants are about 10 minutes south and you are minutes away from Myrtle Beach city limits to the north. There are also several great restaurants and grocery stores within a few blocks of this home. While we were there, the lights in the master bedroom and bath went out. We reported it to Seaside Rentals and within the day the problem was corrected. It is important to us to know that they will make the extra effort to ensure that our stay is enjoyable. We plan to return there in the years to come; in fact, we have already made reservations for next year!
