Relaxing girls weekend
Relaxing girls weekend
A fantastic getaway! The birthday girl was properly celebrated, and we all enjoyed the opportunity to relax without the kiddos for a few days, including admiring the view of the mountains each morning over coffee. The horses were an added bonus - we delighted in watching them each day and having the opportunity to ride was icing on the cake. We also enjoyed exploring downtown Staunton's shops, restaurants & art galleries! Specifically Cranberry's, the Depot Grille, the Ox-Eye tasting room and Sunspot Glassblowing Gallery. It's worth mentioning how nice it was not to have to bring staples like toilet paper, hand soap, detergents, etc; many times these items are not provided with a rental. Definitely want to revisit your property again soon and bring the hubby & kids!

What a beautiful, peaceful place to unplug, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery! The owner makes you feel welcomed and appreciated. The house was spotless and the amenities were roomy and comfy for the seven people that were staying. We loved having the horses there, although weather prevented us from riding them. The hot tub was a nice luxury--clean and well tended. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone looking to kick back for awhile. Check out the "Depot" in Staunton for lunch or dinner. Absolutely spectacular! Reddish Ridge was the perfect choice for our little family reunion.

We recently returned from a family getaway to Reddish Ridge with our children and grand daughter. We all had such a wonderful time. The view was spectacular and the horses were such a pleasure to ride and feed. The entire weekend was relaxing and we really hope to return. Harold was so knowledgable and helpful and helped to make it a very pleasant stay. It is a great place to take the family!!

It's easy to see why the previous reviewer is 'frequent' guest!! Reddish Ridge met all our expectations and then some. We, the grandparents, along with two families and six children spent a relaxing four days at this wonderful home. We hiked through the woods, noting animal scat and prints, to a spring fed brook; played games on the front lawn; fed the ever so gentle horses--Star and Indy; relaxed and enjoyed star gazing in the hot tub; and lounged on the deck overlooking pastures & farms with the Allegheny Mts. in the distance. We only left once to visit the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton ! Harold and Sarah, his assistant, helped with the horses providing the children (ages 2,3,4,5,6, and 7) multiple opportunities for rides. Even the adults took a turn, including Nana on Indy, the Tennessee Walker!! Reddish Ridge stands out over other properties because of the little things--an abundance of house plants, family photos, antiques, and a pantry that includes condiments and spices. Harold is an accommodating host and takes obvious delight in sharing his fondness for animals and the Shenandoah Valley. We will return!

Absolutely fantastic vacation
Absolutely fantastic vacation
We just finished our fourth annual vacation week at Reddish Ridge. We love this place -- the horses, hiking, the "cave", hot tub, pool table, deck - the GREAT views. And, of course, Harold and Sandy both do a lot to make the stay wonderful. We go to relax and that's just what this place is best for. The teenagers like having their own space downstairs. The table is perfect for canasta - and we play a lot. The deck is just wonderfully peaceful. We cooked on the grill a good bit. Some of us rode the horses a lot. All of us saw Romeo and Juliet at the American Shakespeare Center - and three of us saw four plays altogether. If you're planning on staying in this area, you will be very pleased with Reddish Ridge. I can't think of a better place to stay. And again, thanks to Harold for all his attention and help in ensuring that our visit was fantastic.

Our family of rented the house for JMU Graduation weekend. The house had everything we needed and we loved it. Our only regret that with all the graduation activities we did not get to spend enough time there. Harold was most helpful with all our request. He came over Saturday night to show us how to ride the horses and stayed till we felt comfortable ridding them. He came back an hour later to help us start the grill. The house has fantastic views and in case you are a bird lover, you can see all kinds of beautiful birds coming to the bird feeder. Thank you Harold for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely come back.

Our family had a wonderful time at Reddish Ridge. The house was beautiful, roomy and very clean. The property was gorgeous. The owner spent a lot of time showing my college-age children how to saddle up the horses and gave much attention to our friend who had never ridden before. Our only disappointment is that we didn't have more time! Thank you Harold for a great family weekend, we are all hoping to come again soon!

Reddish Ridge Vacation
Reddish Ridge Vacation
I was such a pleasure to stay a Reddish Ridge. It was the perfect location for all we had planned to do. The pictures of the property only gave a glimpse of how beautiful the house, property and views really are. The owner answered all our questions about where to eat and things to do in the local area. I would recommend Reddish Ridge to anyone who enjoys horses and tranquil mountatin view. My daughter and I loved the opportunity to ride horses while my husband and son enjoyed the golf chipping/driving area. We chose Reddish Ridge because of it central location for the activities we wanted to enjoy (Luray Caverns, Natural Bridge and Cass Scenic Railroad, WV), In the evenings we enjoyed a relaxing soak in the hot tub or a rousing game of pool. Thank Harold for a wonderful Virginia vacation.

Our family (6 adults and 2 children) really enjoyed staying at Reddish Ridge. We took several day trips, rode the horses, and finished the days out relaxing in the hot tub. The house is furnished nicely and laid out very well. We were able to enjoy meals on the deck and playing pool while having our individual space when needed. I would definitely recommend Reddish Ridge!
