    The house was clean and spacious and the host very helpfull. There is a new health food store across the road as well as a number of lunch food trucks. The nearby beach at Anini was very safe for swimming and became our favourite along with the beaches at Hanalei. The house is next to a small river and is very close to a waterfall which makes a nice backdrop to lunch on the veranda.

    The pictures don't do it justice! Our mouths literally dropped when we walked in, the view is incredible! The house is so open and spacious, and was perfect for our family. We have 2 small children (including a 1 year old), and it was just what we had hoped for. Well equipped with everything you might need during your stay. Thank you for sharing this amazing little paradise with us :-)

    Once we turned into the driveway, we couldn't believe our eyes! We all let out a little squeal of delight! The house gave us the older Hawaiian feel, which we love. It took us back in time, yet it had everything we could ever dream of. Each and every morning my daughters and I did Bikram yoga in the living room. Our focal point was the sound and site of that beautiful picturesque waterfall. We knew right then, we weren't going to want to go home anytime soon! This is our 1st time to Kauai & renting your home made our vacation a dream come true!

    Thank you for sharing this beautiful home! Our vacation was incredible with this home as our centerpiece. We celebrated our daughter's first birthday here and I couldn't think of a better place! The kitchen is very well stocked and the screened deck was so wonderful we had breakfast at home every day. As others have mentioned, the pictures do not do the waterfall proper justice. The actual experience is sensory overload!

    This was our second year vacationing in this home. An amazing retreat, the waterfall is absolutely peaceful and breathtaking. Location and setting is spectacular, we felt far removed from our busy, stress filled daily lives. This is a great option for anyone looking getaway from it all, and yet be so close everthing Kauai is known for. We pampered ourselves with a professional, relaxing massage at the house by Heather of kauaimassage.net highly recommended. The outdoor hot shower is a special treat after a day at Secret Beach or any beach, but Secret Beach is our favorite, it is the closest and most private beach..... and we visited 7 of the top 10 beaches on Kauai. The home is great for an intimate getaway or roomy enough for a friends and family vacation retreat. We plan to make this an annual girls getaway! Aloha!

    We stayed at the waterfall house in Kilauea for three weeks. It felt like three weeks in paradise! This is our 6th visit to this rental property and every time it is amazing. We love how peaceful this home is and how it feels like the real Hawaii with its beautiful tropical plants and the river right in front. I don't think you could find a more spectacular view from any living room than this. We can't wait until we can return to paradise again!

    We stayed in the home from 7/1-7/8. Absolutely my favorite place we've stayed! The waterfall was beautiful and has a pleasant sound you can hear through the whole house. The house itself was clean and well laid out, has a lot of character. The location is great for exploring the island and you can be at a couple of great beaches in minutes. We can't wait to return!

    We were in charge of booking accommodations for a group of recent graduate students wanting to have a fun and relaxing time before diving into work. This place exceeded our expectations and everyone was super impressed. It is very spacious and there are several lounge areas for hanging out. It was perfect for a large group of people and had all the necessities necessary for island life. We were already familiar with Kauai and the location was great for hitting up some of our favorite spots like the Kalalau trail, Secrets Beach & Hideaway Beach. The owner was a great communicator and was always willing to answer questions. I would definitely rent this place again.

    We stayed in the waterfall house May 23, - June 3, 2012 and it could not have been a better fit - this house is alive with happiness and was like the 8th member of the party. The kitchen was perfect, we made amazing meals each night. Sitting in the sunroom, listening to the waterfall was amazing.     This House was Amazing!! The waterfall right outside the living room window is Awsome, I had the bedroom that was the closest to the waterfall, & it was so nice to fall asleep to that sound, The owner is awsome! the whole trip was amazing, we are already planning our next trip back & will Definitely stay in that house again!!

    We truly enjoyed our stay at this serene and peaceful home. The waterfall was so beautiful and calming. Just listening to flowing water helped all us to forget about our usual hectic lives. The house was immaculate and well-maintained. There was enough space for everyone to come together as a family and also room enough for individual quiet time. Eric, the owner, was so helpful and kind and answered all of our many questions. We are looking forward to staying here again. I highly recommend this wonderful home.

    Our "ohana" (family) of 7 adults & 1 infant enjoyed a very comfortable Thanksgiving in the lovely environment of the Waterfall House and it's uniquely beautiful location. There were four waterfalls running right outside our window in a green and lush setting.

    We have never enjoyed a rental property as much as we enjoyed the Waterfall House. So peaceful, artful and relaxing. Loved the lanai! And such a well stocked kitchen! As for local culinary treasures, the Kilauea Bakery is worth a visit from anywhere on the island and the Fish House had the best fish tacos ever! The house is also very conveniently located. Lots of nearby beaches, the lighthouse is just down the road, and Hanalei is less than15 minutes away! Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

    We found the dramatic sounds of the waterfall to be sooo relaxing, mesmerizing and meditative. We actually didn't even leave the solitude of this very special place except to go on walks into town for the farmer's market and to the lighthouse. We appreciated the Hawaiian art, tapa cloth wall coverings, personal Hawaiian artifacts and books that made this place a home. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen and all the large, naturally lit rooms with all the soothing ceiling fans. Our friends who live on Kauai was so impressed with the home they reserved it for their family holiday. We look forward to our return...Mahalo.

    This last stay was my third or fourth time at the waterfall house, and as always I enjoyed it immensely. The secluded setting can't be beat and the flowing water sounds of the adjacent Kilauea River are magical. It is also nice that the house is only a short drive away from both the Kilauea Lighthouse bird sanctuary and beautiful Hanalei Bay. I continue to recommended this vacation rental to all my friends. The property owner has been very accommodating to all my requests.

    Oh, the waterfall house! This place has exceeded our expectations in every way. What a tranquil retreat you have here. The sounds of the falls washes everything away. We loved the BBQ deck and screened in lanai. The wall of windows is breathtaking and the hardwood floors and beams – gorgeous! We are thrilled to have stayed here during our honeymoon and will surely come again if we are lucky enough to return to Kauai. Thank you for everything.

    This was my wedding/honeymoon rental. Upon arrival I found toenail clippings all over, the smell of urine, garbage from previous guests, filthy sheets that were not clean (huge cockroaches in bedroom and on bed), dirty towels, disgusting dishes, garbage cans below the bedroom windows that heated up and caused a nauseating aroma through the bathroom windows, and a note from the owner apologizing for the giant rotting refrigerator that was on the master lanai. He promised it would be gone in a day or two. It never left and perhaps will be there for the next visitor. In the description of the property it states, "Enjoy your coffee on the master bedroom lanai..." No coffee would be consumed or enjoyed here with such a nasty sight and smell of garbage. Why not enjoy the other lanai by the river? This was difficult as people kept coming down the driveway to see the view and I even got caught taking a shower outside which was the opposite of relaxing. I wish I saved my money and just did what these people did to see the river. The property owner lives right next door and was always outside working loudly on random things, coming over to the property, or just walking around. The severe lack of window coverings combined with people watching the river and the property owner literally feet away made the entire experience not secluded and even voyeuristic! Cars whiz by the road and shake the house more than the waterfall and you can here the neighbors dog barking at all hours. Can't walk to anything as it is on the outskirts of town and felt this entire property listing was misleading. The final straw was when I woke up to my dear fiance secretly cleaning the entire place without my knowledge. He was just trying to make things better without upsetting me, but even he couldn't save our trip. We stayed 5 of our 7 nights, became incredibly sick for our wedding, and can't honestly recommend this to anyone who values a positive experience. Obviously, I was very upset to have paid a cleaning fee (since I trusted the photos on VRBO) and feel that at least should have been refunded. Owner was so rude he even suggested we were sick before coming to the island!! Clearly we were ill from the dirty state he left his property in. Owner will not answer or return our calls. One star for the view, but nothing else. Avoid this and look elsewhere.

    Owner response: The guests arrived on Friday afternoon/evening and I only had three “interactions” with them during their stay. Saturday morning, after their first night in the house, I received an email stating: “Your house is a true delight! A real beauty full of many excellent surprises! We are so happy to be here and it is beyond ideal:) Mahalo times a thousand…” Then on Monday afternoon I saw them drive in, so I went to the carport to introduce myself. Though they had slept in the house for 3 nights, at no time during our conversation were any complaints made; they seemed friendly and happy. The third was Friday morning when I arrived to check on the house after their departure and found a note they left stating: “I think you are a nice person, but your house was filthy and not cleaned prior to our arrival and my fiancé and I both got sick before my wedding and we went to have accommodations elsewhere! Will be in contact with you.” During their entire stay they had my email and phone number and knew I lived next door, but they never commented or complained. I had recently installed a new refrigerator and the old one was still on a corner of the deck, outside the master bedroom. Unfortunately I was very busy that week; I did not haul it away and also missed the weekly trash pick-up. The old refrigerator is now gone, the trash cans have been scrubbed out, and the housekeeping staff has been instructed to be more detailed in their cleaning. I am sorry that they did not have the stay that they had expected and I have since refunded their cleaning deposit and a portion of their stay. In the 10 years that I have rented out my home, I have never had a complaint like this, and will do my best to insure that it will never happen again. Sincerely, Erik Hanson

    Thank you so much for providing such a great getaway for us to stay at! The pictures do not do the house and grounds justice! My mom, sisters and I arrived right after a rainy period and really enjoyed the gorgeous river and waterfall. We really enjoyed the location as it had a feeling of being far away from it all, but was still close enough for a morning walk to the bakery in Kilauea and their wonderful pastries! The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and there was a great new refrigerator with plenty of room for all of our ice tea and fresh produce that we purchased from the local farmer's market! We really enjoyed the open living areas and especially the screened in porch which was a fabulous area to lounge around, read, or even to take a quick nap! I have already shared the info on this property with many of my friends and will plan to come back again soon! Congratulations on providing such a comfortable and cozy home for people to enjoy!

    This kauai waterfall home is seriously amazing. Pictures do not do it justice as once you're on the property and inside everything is immaculate and easily beats staying in a hotel hands down! the backyard is fantastic with the waterfall and stream and the house is incredibly roomy, clean, and inviting. the bedrooms and bathrooms are great as well as the separating living/lounge areas. I went with a couple of friends (you can fit way more people though!) and stayed just under a week and we couldn't have been happier. The location is prime too while still being nestled away with some privacy. A great combination. I'd absolutely come here again and pick this over any sort of hotel on the island. This is real kauai living!! Thank you so much Erik for all of your help.

    We have travel extensively around the Hawaiian Islands and have found our home away from home at this property. Where can I begin? The house, the view and sounds of the waterfall and especially the attention to detail by hour host who always takes great care in making our stay as comfortable as possible. For us there is no other place to stay when we visit Kauai. We have recommended this property to numerous friends who after staying call us to thank us for the recommendation. We have found it to be centrally located in the town of Kilauea and within walking distance to several stores and restaurants, as well as its close proximity by car to the town of Hanalei. We always have a great time while at this property and are looking forward to our next visit.

The house, the views, the waterfall and especially the attention to detail by our host Erik Hansen who always takes great care in making our stay as comfortable as possible. For us there is no other place to stay when we visit Kauai. We have recommended this property to numerous friends who have call us afterwards to thank us. We have found it to be centrally located in Kilauea.     April 2-9, 2011 We have had a wonderful time at the beaches and all the different places on the island. We couldn't get over all the beautiful lush green mountains throughout the island, especially visible on the helicopter ride. Your house is located on a beautiful part of the island, the waterfall helps make it so peaceful and relaxing. We loved our stay and look forward to visiting again. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Had a family group stay at the Waterfall House. Our experience was just what we wanted and full filled our expectations. The house was as described and you can't get a better location with the spectacular waterfall as your backyard. The house was well equipped for cooking family meals and close to great local markets and restaurants, along with many outdoor activities. There was plenty of space for all of us. The owner was responsive to all my questions and booking emails. Could not have had a better experience.

    The waterfall house was lovely. We loved the old Hawaiian adventurous feel to it. The location was wonderful, convenient to all the attractions. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time. We hope to return someday!

    While we were considering options, the owner was consistently prompt in responding to my emails and requests for more information. The virtual tour and pictures provided a great idea of what was in store. However when we arrived our high expectations were exceeded. The property is well maintained, the waterfall and river provide a fabulous setting, and the house was extremely clean and furnished with everything we could have needed. The location was great...quick access to the North Shore sites (our favorite part of the island). I highly recommend!!

    I have stayed at this house the for a week the last two years and it will be my first choice of places to stay when Im on Kauai. Its much better in person than it is on the website. The waterfall more dramatic and I feel at home when Im there. The sound of the waterfall really helps to mentally get in to vacation mode.

    We enjoyed the house greatly. There was plenty of room, comfortable furnishings, a well-equipped kitchen, and it was clean with everything in working order. Quiet neighborhood. The waterfall is dramatic and changes rapidly when it rains. The waterfall is also quite loud! It is a bargain for the price.

    GREAT HOUSE! Spacious and really comfortable. It's like being home. Conveniently located it's just a short distance to a great restaurant (The Kilauea Bistro) and a fantastic bakery. The views of your own private warterfall are spectacular from the spacious glass walls that surround your private enclosed lanai and comfortable living room! Your host Erik Hansen takes great care catering to your needs providing you with all the comforts of a home away from home. After staying at this home I just can't see myself anywhere else! I have highly recommended this property to all my friends and will continue to do so. Ivan Marquez

    We got married on Kauai and, after much searching, reserved the Kauai Waterfall Home to stay in during our wedding/honeymoon. The house exceeded our expectations. It could not have been more beautiful or tranquil, and it felt like a real home, not just a vacation rental. The view of the waterfall from the living room window is spectacular. The house also feels very private, despite its convenient proximity to the main road. I would recommend this rental to any visitor to Kauai who wants room to spread out, an intimate setting, and a home away from home.
