Close to everything, yet located on a Country road with views of the Nantahala Forest and mountains, this beautifully appointed, tastefully furnished, 3 bedroom, 2 bath log home is situated within feet of the Hiawassee River.
The cabin is an easy drive to town, one mile from the entrance to Fire’s Creek Recreational Area, and within 10-15 minutes of Lake Chatuge. Year round activities make this an ideal vacation spot for adventure-seekers, and the secluded location makes it an ideal place for those who want to just kick back and relax.
Our cabin has an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, rustic pine walls and floors, and a stone fireplace. Two quarter-round antique stained glass windows (circa 1880) accent the fireplace. Sliding glass doors facing the river ensure that your view is unobstructed. The fully-equipped kitchen has everything one might need for family dinners or entertaining guests. A large dining room table (seats 6) is provided, in addition to seating at the counter for four. So that you have all of the comforts of home, we’ve provided satellite tv programming and a DVD/VCR. Dvd's, board games and kids activities are also available.
The master bedroom downstairs has a King size, full-log bed, and has a bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub. Upstairs, the second bedroom has a large King size bed and the some of best views of the river and mountains. The third bedroom has built-in bunk beds - a hit with the kids, but sturdy enough to accomodate an adult.
The second bathroom is conveniently located between the two upstairs bedrooms. A comfortable queen-size sofa bed in the living room is an extra sleeping area (w/easy access to bathroom on the same level).
Just feet from the river, you can sit on the covered porch or relax on the hammock and let the river lull you to sleep. The covered porch has a latching gate to keep children and pets safely by your side. A large outdoor table with comfortable seating for 6 is perfect for dining with a view of the river or for just relaxing. A professional charcoal grill is provided to grill your catch. The river is dam-controlled and flows gently enough to wade or swim early in the day, then very gradually becomes a swiftly flowing river. Each is gradually sloping for younger and older swimmers alike. For those who want to explore the river, bring your canoes or try our river tubes (with handles). Fire's Creek is nearby upstream emptying into the Hiwassee River - both teem with rainbow, brook and brown trout with some of the best fly-fishing in the mountains.
The large 1-acre lot has plenty of room to run and play. Incredible view of the changing leaves in fall. White-tail deer, Canadian Geese, and Herons are some of the wildlife you can view without leaving the back porch. At night, enjoy the outdoor fire pit - roast marshmallows, make s'mores or just relax.
For those who wish to explore the area on land, there is nearby golf, hiking, biking and horseback riding. There is also plenty of shopping and fine or casual dining within minutes of the cabin. |
