This place was perfect. My wife and I went for our 1 year anniversary and loved it! The place is right in the heart of the action, close to the beach, great restaurants, and attractions. The entire house has recent remodel and is in great shape! The bikes were also a GREAT addition since the boardwalk is so close. Thanks Lauryl and Dan! Thanks again!!

We just concluded our fourth visit to Lauryl and Dan's Beige Beauty Beach House and as always it was a wonderful stay. We live in Scottsdale and every summer we look to escape the heat ... Newport Beach is an easy 5-hour drive ... and one of the most beautiful, pristine beaches anywhere. Twice we've stayed elsewhere because this house was already rented and both times were awful and were not the same relaxing Newport Beach experience. (One smelled musty and was extremely outdated and the other one had NO linens or towels -- and no one told us that! - and there was a constant party going on upstairs!) Lauryl has absolutely everything you need ... we pull into her garage, unpack the car with our few personal essentials and head to the beach, which is just across Balboa Avenue. There is a brand new grocery store across the street so if we're not walking down to the pier to eat at Mutt Lynch's or Sharkeez or Charlie's Chili then we're barbeque'ing out on the patio, watching the interesting mix of people walking/bicycling/skateboarding to the beach. The upstairs has an amazing modern fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable living room, master bedroom and bath and the downstairs is perfect for young kids and teenagers. They have lots of beach stuff to borrow as well as bikes to ride on the boardwalk. I love Newport Beach and I love this house!!

The home is in excellent condition with an upgraded ( kitchen, design, appliances, etc) environment. Myself and three grown children can't say enough good things about what a grand time we enjoyed in Newport Beach! We had the BEST, BEST, BEST, time at Beige Beauty! So easy to keep tidy, all the electronic ameneties for the very small amount of time we weren't out bike riding (awesome to have the bikes available - thanks!) or boogie boarding (you just think of everything, don't you??) or grilling on the patio -- AND the rest of the house is so well appointed. Beautiful bathrooms, bedrooms and the kitchen had anything we ever needed! We will defininitely be back!!

Beige Beauty, 2011 Tour!

...we are back in 2011 for our second round at the Beige Beauty, this time for two glorious weeks. This year it only took a day to get "in tune" with the corner of 32nd and Balboa! A lot going on, and if you close your eyes or ears you may miss it! The upgrades to the shopping center across the street were most impressive. Aside from the market the restaurants (especially the Crow Bar) are nice additions. The Pavilions Market is top flight; a real step up from the Albertson's that was there before. As expected the house was spotless, and everything you might need from wine glasses to beach towels are there. The beach is a hop, skip and a jump from the house, and numerous eateries are an easy walk from the house. Also if for some reason you need to hit a large chain store you will find almost anything you would need via a 5 minute drive up to the mesa. Theatres, fast food and variety stores are literally right up the street a handful of miles. The people watching was just as interesting as last year, the shopping was even better, and the Beige Beauty still feels like a nice, cozy blanket the minute you walk through the door. Thanks Dan and Lauryl for another great summer visit. We plan to be back for round three in 2012!

Great House, great location!

We felt right at home the minute we walked into the Beige Beauty! The house has everything you could possibly need or want, and the set-up allows for absolute privacy when desired. Flat screen TV, stereo system throughout the house and updated appliances in the kitchen make it an outstanding place to be when not at the beach, and the beach itself is just a block away. Dan & Lauryl provide you with everything you need to enjoy your time at the beach (umbrellas, chairs, cooler, boogie boards), and the new grocery/liquor store right across the street is very convenient. In fact, everything is within walking/riding distance; Newport Beach and Balboa Pier, the Cannery area, etc. We parked our car in the garage and didn't need it until we left. The bikes were an outstanding add-on, and the convenience of a washer and dryer was perfect. Without a doubt a great experience for us all-around. We will definitely be back!

Nice home, BUSY location

We rented on the 4th of July weekend 2011, which might be the busiest weekend of the year in NPB??? The location at 32nd and Balboa, was party town, very busy and very loud. The intersection of 32nd and Balboa, I learned, is one of the biggest and busiest intersections on the whole Balboa Peninsula, and the dining room window looks right out on it. Easily thousands of young people went by the front door on the way to and from the beach each day. The grocery store across the street only amplified the traffic and congestion. Street parking was impossible, but that's true across all of NPB on the 4th. The house was very nice inside, all that was promised, clean and well kept. Maybe it was my responsibility to know that I was renting at a major intersection on a busy weekend, in a neighborhood filled with partying college kids??? Maybe it was. However, the owner certainly didn't bring it to my attention during the booking process, I can say that much for sure. If you're looking for a college Spring Break atmosphere, you'll LOVE this place on the 4th. As for my family, we didn't.

Owner response:We are truly sorry that Eric and his family did not enjoy their stay in Newport Beach over the 4th of July holiday. It is, as he said, the busiest holiday in Newport Beach, and most likely ANY beach community in the country. Our house is known for being a great location for "people watching". A lot of our guests mention it in their comments as a positive. The recently renovated grocery store across the street is another "plus" mentioned in the comments. It's really a bonus, according to our guests, that they can literally walk across the street for food or sundries. Street parking is not impossible, but it is tricky. We offer a 1 car garage & some guests decide to bring more cars, but that is up to each guest. We do try to anticipate all questions, but if you have any, or are concerned with anything prior to booking or arriving, please let us know. We are always more than happy to answer all questions upfront and honestly. We try to do our very best to make our guests happy during their stay in our beach house. ~Lauryl & Dan

Wonderful little home away from home...and just a block from the beach. Everything you could want or need at what felt like my personal vacation home. Just bring your clothes, swimsuits and get ready to relax and have a great time. If you love the beach, its a great place to enjoy the miles of beautiful sand. If you love to shop, lots of stores within walking distance and certainly within a few miles driving. Great restaurants....just a walk away....or just stay in and cook your own gourmet dinner in a fully equipped kitchen or the BBQ on the patio. We could not have asked for a nicer or cleaner place. It was just a lovely week.

Wonderful beach holiday with the kids

We spent a week at Lauryl & Dan's beach house in July and it was perfect for our family vacation - 4 adults and 2 toddlers. The house was spotless when we arrived and had all the amenities we needed, the furnishings were modern and comfortable (we loved the new tv and were pleased to find child locks provided for the cupboards!). The beach was even closer than we expected based on the description and we were also able to set up a splash pool on the patio for the kids. We used the bikes at the beach house and rented seats for the kids from across the street - the ride to Huntington Beach was lovely! We would definitely recommend this rental, especially for families with young children.

We stayed in this beach house in July 2010. There were 2 adults and 4 teeenagers in our group. The location was nice with the convenience of the stores and restaurants close by and the beach only a block away. The kids loved walking and riding bikes on the boardwalk.The house was very clean and nicely updated.We enjoyed the BBQ on the porch and the surround sound was great! Great Holiday Home

We booked this property at the last minute and were delighted with it. The house was very comfortable, clean and stylishly furnished with all the amenities you could wish for, including sound from the HiFi being available in all the rooms in the house and even outside! As a base we were able to walk along the beach, take the ferry to Balboa Island and even go Ballroom Dancing! There was a large supermarket nearby and the local diner was great as well! We have stayed at Dan and Lauryl's beachhouse for the last two summers now, and it couldn't be more perfect for our family. It's location is perfect, as we spent most of our days going back and forth to the beach, riding bikes, and relaxing on the patio. We rented Dan and Lauryl's lovely beachhouse the week of July 11. The house is very clean, very well maintained, and in an excellent location. I was recently transfered by my employer from Napa to Orange County and our family had the opportunity to stay at Lauryn and Don's fantastic beach house. The beach house was ideally located in the heart of the Balboa Pennisula, steps from the beach. The home has all the amenities you will need, nothing has been overlooked. Having been employed in the Hospitality industry for 25 years I recognize the care and attention our wonderful hosts bestoyed on our family, Dan and Lauryn not only took very good care of us while we were there, they were amazing to deal with pre and post booking. My Wife and Son had a great time at the beach and surronding area, the only regret we have is that we had to move to our permanent home inland. You won't be disappointed!

We stayed for 2 weeks at Lauryl & Dan's Beach House and it was an absolutely wonderful vacation. The house has everything you could possibly need. It is beautifully decorated, really comfortable for a family because of the floor plan and only a couple minutes walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States. The Schumacher's took care of us from beginning to end, and although we did not experience a single problem, we knew they were there if we needed them. Really wonderful people and a really wonderful beach house. Our family will no doubt return again and again.

This is a very nice and well-appointed beach house. The amenities (surround sound, satellite TV, whole house audio, alarm system, kitchen appliances, etc.) are way above what I have experienced in other beach rentals. The wood and tile floors are good for keeping things clean and the fact that it is a house rather than a duplex means that you have no one above or below you. The floor plan worked great for our family of four )two teenage boys) as they had the whole downstairs to themselves. It is located on the busy NE corner of Balboa Blvd and 32nd St, which means you do have to cross Balboa Blvd to get to the beach, but the traffic signals at the corner make it relatively easy. Having the shopping right across from you is a big plus because once you park your car in Newport Beach, you don’t want to move it unless you have to. I would definitely recommend this house to families looking for very nice and comfortable beach rental.

The perfect "home away from home"! Clean! Clean! Clean! Love the kitchen! The cruiser bikes were great for an evening stroll on the boardwalk to watch the sunset. The patio was awesome for watching people, grilling out or just reading a book. Neat to see your "sea glass" collection and the beautiful tile work in the bathroom. I love the beach and this immaculate rental is a 90 second walk to the sand. I also found the market right across the street quite convenient when I ran out of tequila. I recommend you bring your bike for a ride down the board walk to any of the local piers. The Schumachers will bend over backwards to make your stay pleasant. I'll be back...

What a wonderful place to stay! The house is very cozy, easy to find with lot of accessable parking, right next to the beach and has fabulous AV equipment and ammenities. Lauryl and Dan are extremely pleasant and will make sure that you enjoy your visit. I would definately stay there again.
