Excellent place to stay if you're planning on skiing Jay Peak. The house is very clean and the layout accommodates privacy as well as the entire group coming together after a day at the hill. Owners are very friendly and helpful through the entire rental process, helped with getting deals on lift tickets and were always available by phone if assistance was required. Highly recommended.
Owner response:Thanks a ton for checking us out and thanks for the great review. We are glad you had a great time and we hope to see you back next year for another ski vacation. Check us out in the summer for specials on golf and the water park. Take care. Mike

My family as well as my daughter’s boyfriend stayed at this location for President’s week 2012. The house was beautiful in and out especially when we received 47" of snow over a three day period. We enjoyed the hot tub which was spotless and the fire place was very relaxing. We were warm and thanks to myself and the well equipped kitchen; well fed. The game room downstairs had plenty to keep three teenagers busy. The slopes were maybe 7 minutes away which was very handy for those who wanted to partake. The Jay General store less than five minutes away was well stocked with those items you may need to stock up on or replenish while staying at the home. There is a Price Chopper about 30 minutes away as well. I would highly recommend this home. Mike Andrews was a delight to deal with and very helpful in suggesting alternative activities for those who didn't utilize the slopes. He also recommended a lovely restaurant down in North Troy called Tastings as well as Sutton QC, Canada to visit, what a quaint little French influenced village, the pastries and chocolate are to die for. All in all it was a wonderful location, home and overall experience.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay in our home. I am always glad to suggest interesting places to our guests. We really want you to make the most of your stay and find what makes the Jay Peak area so special. It is so much more than just a ski mountain. We do hope that you can make it back to the house someday soon. It was a true pleasure dealing with you from the beginning. Thanks to you and the whole family for treating our home with respect and also leaving it in such great condition. You are welcome back anytime! Hope to hear from you soon, Mike and Doreen

For the 3rd winter straight we have stayed at the Mtn. View Trailhouse and could not have been happier. The annual trip includes 10 guys and there is ample space for everyone. As always, the house was stocked with everything you could ever need and the homeowner Mike is great to deal with. Even though the snow totals in the Northeast are lower than usual this year, don't be fooled, we had 3 powder days and the weather forecasts never called for snow. Jay Peak has its own climate and you can count on a minimum of at least flurries when you are there. When you combine the best rental property in Jay with the best mountain in the East what more could you ask for? P.S. We discussed renting your house in the summer for a golf getaway so expect to hear from me! Thanks again.
Owner response:Wow!! Great review! It is really nice having you back to the house every year. I am so glad that we continue to meet your expectations. Once again, you have managed to hit it right with Mother Nature. We will be looking forward to your stay in the summer. By the way, we offer discounts on golf too. Thanks and take care.

Words cannot describe what an amazing time we had at our stay here (5days/4nights). Yeah we didn't get to ski until our 3 day here because of the mild/rainy weather but no one cared. There was so much we could do at the house, between just lounging by the fireplace or playing a game of pool. The kitchen area was so large and we looked forward each night to cook a home cooked meal (our last night we ate out at Tastings just a few minutes from the house - great food there!) We've stayed at homes in Mount Snow and Killington in the past but nothing compared to Mike's home! A truly unforgettable stay and trip!
Owner response:So great to hear you had a wonderful stay. It was a pleasure dealing with you and your friends. We are glad that our home was a positive addition to your vacation. Look us up next time for our return customer discount. Thank you for caring for our home and also appreciating all we do.

Spent two nights in this beautiful home in the NEK! There were amzing mountain views in all directions, with only a short ride to Jay Peak. The house has a very modern rustic feel, it simply felt like I was home. The location of the house was very private, I liked the fact that it didn't feel like I was at a touristy ski resort. The house was very clean and well maintained. The house offers plenty to do on a rainy day or just relaxing after a long day sking. It has a pool table, plenty of board games, large flat screen TV, and an awsome hot tub. I forgot my pillows at the house and the owner kindly mailed them back to me. The only downfall for the whole weekend was that Jay was not in full operation yet. All my friends and I had an absolutely amazing time and will defintely be returning in the future. To sum it all up, if you are looking for a rental home for a ski trip to Jay Peak I highly recommend this house, the price was right and I promise you will not be disappointed.
Owner response:So glad you enjoyed your stay. Although Jay has had years when they were in full early season operation by December 15th, sadly it was not this year. Sorry about that. Kudos to your group for staying positive and enjoying the water-park. We hope to have you back. Stay in touch.

Our first time up to this area of Vermont...we couldn't of picked a better house to spend the week!!! Thank you Mike and Doreen for the tips of where to go and what to do. After driving around Jay and surrounding areas, my wife and I agreed that the scenes from your house are as beautiful as much of the sight seeing we did, maybe with exception of Jay Peak :-) The house is clean, has awesome features compared to what's available in other options in the area, the hot tube is nice (we used it every night), the kids loved playing outside and enjoying camp fires at night. The house has become part of the experience for us now. Thank you for being owner who truly show how much you care for your home and the experience you leave your renters. You guys made the trip a success!!!!
Owner response:Wow. That is very nice of you, what a great review! My wife and I work very hard to make sure other families get the same experience we do. Since we first started renting our home 9 years ago, we have tried to include everything that we look for in a vacation property when we go on holiday. Nowadays we don't go anyplace else. We love it and I think the time we spend and the additions we make on the house are all worth it when we can allow another family to experience and appreciate it. Thank you for choosing our vacation home. We really hope to have you back year after year.

Mike was ever so helpful in making our dream of a last minute weekend away from our busy work lives in the city. It was a nice surprise to find his home only minutes away from the Canadian boarder & it still felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. His home was clean, organized & well equipped for a nice weekend away from the city! Will surely try to rent with Mike again!
Owner response:Thank you so much and we are happy you were able to take advantage of the last minute special offer we were promoting. You picked a beautiful time to stay in our house and to be in Jay. Currently, we still have times available for the winter months so be sure to book early. We look forward to your return. Thank you for choosing the MountainView TrailHouse.

Owner response:What a treat having previous guests back to the house! We want the MountainView TrailHouse to be your vacation home in Jay year after year. This home is even better in person than in the pictures! This peaceful and relaxing home is a wonderful retreat yet feels just like home. The magnificent views from every room (and the hot tub especially) is to die for and is a little piece of heaven. Rarely do I travel and come back with all positive comments with no areas of improvement to mention but in this case I cannot think of anything to suggest to make my stay better. We were in town for a family wedding and the memories we have made will never be forgotten - thanks again for allowing us to rent your fabulous home. You were great to work with and we will definitely be back as soon as possible!
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words! My wife and I really try to think of everything we would want if we rented a vacation home. We love our home too, it is a very special place for my family and I am grateful that it had a positive influence on your stay at Jay. I am glad you enjoyed your time at the house and thanks again for leaving it in such great shape. You are exactly the kind of guests we would like to return year after year. You will always be welcome and you were a pleasure to deal with from the start. Take care, Mike and Doreen

The cottage was fantastic, a really great place to relax with friends. We enjoyed the Pool and Foosball tables, as well as the hot tub! There is a grocery store and a small town nearby which was convenient for our group. We enjoyed the privacy of the area, lots of land and very peaceful. The view from every angle of the house was phenomenal, i would recommend it to anybody looking to stay in jay peak!

My friends and I relaxed at this house for the first weekend of April. There was a lot of snow left in Vermont. We had a great time skiing at Jay Peak and had a great time at the house. Spent many hours in the new Hot tub. There are many games that we played in the game room. We also watched the final four games for men's NCAA basketball. This was the nicest house that i have stayed at in Vermont. I am sure I will be back to visit again!
Owner response:Thank you William, I am glad that you and your friends were able to enjoy the house. If you make it back up to VT please keep us in mind. We always have great offers for our return customers.

We had a great time during our three nights and four nights at Mountainview. The house definitely met our expectations of finding a nice house with ample amenities and plenty of privacy. Jay Peak was great as well and worth the extra 30 minutes from Boston over those "other" resorts. We are also appreciative that the owner was willing to purchase discounted lift tickets for us. It made the experience that much easier. The owner recently built an addition as well, so the house is bigger than shown in the picture. Would love to come back in the future!
Owner response:Well John, We would love to have you back! I think we feel the exact same way about driving past many other resorts. It IS just too good at Jay. Book early for return customer rates and availability. We already have a couple dates booked for next year. So let us know as soon as you check in with the gang.

Mike, For the second year in a year we had an amazing time at your house. The recent renovations/remodel was incredible. Even with 9 guys we had so much space to gather as a group in the living area. We only used the pool table once over the 4 day trip because we spent it by the fire and at the spacious table sharing laughs. You have outdone yourself with this house and the amenities you provide. Count us in again for next year, no doubt about it. And of course, who could forget 3 feet of snow in 5 days at the best mountain in the east...EPIC
Owner response:Thanks Dave, It is always great having you at the house. We are always glad to hear from you and look forward to your return. Thank for respecting and appreciating all the work we have done.

We had a great time staying at your house. We stayed 4 nights. The house description was very accurate and the house has all the amenities you want. The house was also very clean and well-maintained. My friends kept saying "This house is awesome, where did you find it?" The owner Mike was very helpful, when I sent him an email with a question about the hot tub he called us at the house within a few minutes. I would definitely recommend this house to others. Skiing at Jay Peak on lots of fresh powder was awesome. The worst part was having to leave and drive 8 hrs back home.
Owner response:Thanks for the kind words. We try very hard to make your stay a comfortable one. Glad you and your party were happy with us. Come on back and you don't have to wait until next year.

Our group of 6 stayed for 5 nights over New Year's and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully furnished and the new renovations on the main floor are superb. Huge kitchen and dining room table to make large group meals, great entertainment center with surround sound, game room downstairs and, of course, the hot tub -- everything you need for a very relaxing vacation. The house was immaculately clean and everything was in working order. As for location, the house was a very quick and convenient drive to the country store and Jay Peak. Many thanks to Mike who made sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to return.
Owner response:Looking forward to your return! It was a pleasure dealing with you and your group. Remember to book early and don't forget that summer and fall are great periods at the house as well. Take care.

The house is amazing. Between the awesome surround sound entertainment system, fireplace, cable tv, internet, pool table, fooseball table, outdoor hot tub, and well stocked kitchen pots and pans, there is something for everyone to do in that house. And the short drive to Jay Peak mountain is great for a late wake up in the morning and quick drive home after a day of snowboarding. If we make another trip to Jay Peak, we will definitely rent your beautiful home again!

We stayed here for a week on a combination business & pleasure trip in October. Our only regret was how fast the time went. Mike and Doreen are great hosts. The little extras make all the difference and they have all the bases covered. The dog treats they left for our dogs were a nice touch; thanks, again! The views are both spectacular and relaxing. The house itself is nicely decorated, well furnished and in a great location. From sitting outside on one of the spacious decks to sitting inside in front of the fire, you cannot pick a bad spot. The game room is fun for adults as well as kids. There are also games, books and movies for everyone to enjoy. For those who enjoy bird watching, we saw several types enjoying the feeders while we were there. We even picked up more feed to encourage them to make repeat appearances. Treat yourselves with a stay here. You won't be sorry.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words Doug. Since the start of the renovation, our main goal was to make this a Vacation Home and not just a rental house. We are glad that you enjoyed yourselves and had a chance to experience our newly renovated home. We try to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We look forward to your return soon. The beds are comfey, we slept 7 guys no problem. Kitchen is fully stocked with spices and utensils, basement set up to entertain young and old. Fire pit and BBQ grill outside helps you get out and fully appreciate the location. Hot tub will be a great addition next year. Very private, somewhat remote location, so stock up before you arrive! Short drive to several ski resorts and convenience stores. We went up mainly to ski. Jay Peak is awesome, but Owl's Head was a pleasant surprise once you get past the austere lodge. Breathtaking views of Lake Memphremagog from many challenging trails. We'll go back and try Sutton, maybe Orford. Very responsive owner. We'll be back.

This house is a great place to stay! Roomy enough for a large group of adults with all the amenities you would expect in your own home. Everything you could need or want was present down to the right seasonings for your steak. Although this is our first year at the Mountainview house it has been an 8 year tradition to take this group on a ski trip to Vermont. We will continue to take this trip and have now found a new location to become part of the tradition. Homeowners are great to deal with and very flexible in accomodating any request. Thanks for the great memories. p.s. We saw Henry the moose when skiing at Jay!

This was our first experience renting in Vermont and we are very pleased with the outcome. The house is clean, comfortable and very well suited for a large family to spend time together while being big enough for everyone to be able to retreat to their own space at the end of the day. The owners are extremely accommodating, professional and attentive. Not to mention all the many extras (a pool table, wifi and satellite in the Northeast Kingdom!) that made the week that much better. Our biggest complaint? Having to pack up and drive away while the snow was still coming down. I would definitely stay again.

Dear Mike, We stayed 6 nights at the house and it was good over all, but there been some issues. 1) There was something wrong with the fire alarm on the main floor: the one that is above the entrance door made this "beep" sound every time somebody passed by. Another one, above the entrance to the basement, was making this sound non-stop, We got used to it in a couple days, but it was crazy 2) The house did not keep its warm temperature, we had 58-60 at all levels during the night, even when we set the thermostat to 75-80-85. Nothing helped. At the daytime we were out for skiing, so we did not have any problems, but it was really cold at night 3) We left you a voice message, as we were unable to set the security alarm on. Something wrong was with the Zone 10 (upper level smoke alarm), we checked everything, even the windows and balcony - just in case- but we could not figure out whats wrong... 4) We did not find the outdoor charcoal grill that you mentioned on the website In general the house is nice and the views are awesome. Jay peak Mountain rocks!:) Thanks for everything
Owner response:Sorry to hear about your negative experience at the house. This is our first negative response in 5 years and I am upset to say the least. It baffles me why you did not call to tell me about the beeping alarm or heat, we consider both items to be high priority as we depend on them to work in full capacity in order to prevent damage. Someone in your party did call about discount tickets while you were at the house but did not mention any of these items. On the contrary, he said he was quite pleased with everything. From our first correspondence we offer to do anything we can, give you 2 phone numbers and leave an emergency number posted at the house. Things happen, if you don't mention them while you are there, we can't make it better. I would have sent someone immediately and I wish that you would have given us a chance to rectify the problems rather than telling us now. It is in our best interest to keep the house in top order. Items 1 and 3 of your list were taken care of within hours of this e-mail. Our alarm technician was called, replaced batteries in sensors and checked the system out to find everything is now OK. We had the furnace serviced in Nov and the week before your stay we had guest staying in the house with sub zero (-15F) temps outside. Guests have never complained about the house being cold but we will have it checked. The charcoal grill is put away in storage for the winter. A simple phone call and we could have pulled it out. Of course the gas grill was on the deck if you had wished to use it. We want you to know that we take these suggestion very seriously. Sincerely, Michael

I really enjoyed my stay. The pictures do not do justice to the views from the deck. Waking up to the cool mountain air, and gazing out at the mountains was simply awesome. The house was clean, and well-furnished, right down to pool table. The owner has gone to extraordinary effort to make the house comfortable and fun. The area is gorgeous. I even saw a moose around the corner from the house. I enjoyed breakfast at the Jackson store. I met a guy there who couldn't stop talking about the miles of mountain bike trails. I drove to Quebec, and toured the area surrounding Sutton. The roads in this area of Vermont and across the border in Quebec are perfect for bike rides. I highly recommend this area and this house - a perfect match.

We just got back from a 4 nite stay with two families consistinng of four adults, five teens ( 3 boys 2 girls) and a dog. What a great layout for two families , the adults could hang out on the first floor and the kids in the lower level playing in the "gameroom". The bedrooms were of generous size and very comfortable and everything in the house was clean and well maintained. Being so close to Jay Peak was awesome and the skiing was incredible, fresh snow everyday we were there. The house far exceeded our expectations and dealing with Mike was a pleasure .
Owner response:Thank you Eddie! It was nice having you and the gang. We are glad you enjoyed yourselves and we also appreciate how you left the house in good order. Come back next year and check out our expansion. Mike

Game room contains foosball, darts, DVD/VCR/Stereo and pool table, great for hanging out in when not on the slopes. We also enjoyed the beautiful master bedroom with private balcony. Owner is very professional and caring. Highly recommended.

I just spent 4 days at the Mountainview Trailhouse with several friends for a great ski vacation. Everyone really liked the house - very nicely maintained. Although it is a little tight for 8 adults, we will certainly try to come back next year. It's in a great location, very close to the ski area, and good restaurants nearby for when you don't feel like cooking after a hard day on the slopes. The owners are attentive and work hard to make sure the house is up to par. Thank you so much!
Owner response:Thanks Darice, We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully when you return we will have our second phase of construction completed. It includes an expansion out over the deck, (larger kitchen and living room). Also includes gas fireplace and an outdoor hot tub on the new deck! We plan to be ready for your ski vacation next year. Thanks again for your kind words, Mike

January 2009 Wonderful stay at this home. Beautiful views and great snowshoeing.....we saw a moose coming out of the Jay Peak resort around 7:00 PM which was quite a site. Also saw many moose tracks while snowshoeing out the back of the house in the woods. Great time!

You have an awesome set up for true skiers. The house easily accommodated our two families and kept everyone busy with the many modes of entertainment. The pool table, fooseball table, and darts got a lot of action. It was also nice to have so many televisions in different rooms for our varied tastes and ages. We would definitely recommend this house to other skiers and nonskiers too!
Owner response:Thank you Kathleen and Friends! It was a pleasure having you at the house. Once again, thank you for caring for the house and leaving it in such great condition. I hope you return someday soon so that we can make it up to you somehow. Best Regards, Mike and Doreen

This house is ideal for two families. Plenty of space for us all and very comfortable. Enough hot water for us all when we got back, just what we needed after a cold day skiing. This house is in a great spot for skiing in Jay Peak. The great thing is you can stop off at the Country Store (a great shop) on your way back for your supplies.
Owner response:Thank you so much Helen. We hope to have you back to The MountainView TrailHouse next year. Remember to book early.

This beautiful house is situated on top of a hill and you have fantastic views over mountains and fields from all rooms. They had recliner couches! Gotta love those to relax in after a day of skiing. The game room in the basement is unbelievable! Pool table, darts, games, DVDs, videos! You will not be bored even if the weather is not what you imagined. Overall, it is simply heavenly :-)

Mountain View Trail House was a great location for my family's annual ski vacation. The proximity to Jay Peak was excellent and the views from the house were outstanding. Everything was as the owner described and communication was excellent. The only downside was no internet connection. Otherwise the accommodation was great. Thanks,
Owner response:Thanks for choosing to stay at our house. Yes, you are correct, we do not offer a High Speed Internet connection but with the proper technology a connection to the internet is acquired via cell phone, dial-up, etc...just takes a second or 2 longer but still possible. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back next year.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Mountainview Trailhouse between Christmas and New Year's. It was an easy drive to Jay Peak for skiing in the morning; the gameroom was the perfect place to relax afterwards. (A hot tub on the deck would put the whole experience over the top...) We hope to be back.

We had a wonderful time in your nice, comfortable home. Enjoyed the spectacular views. Had all the comforts of home and we particularly appreciated the games room for the kids to enjoy. Would love to return in the summer and enjoy sipping ice tea on your gorgeous outdoor deck! Your house was definitely a home away from home. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy it!

We spent a brilliant weekend at Mountainview Trailhouse. The weather was great, the Inn in Jay served enormous portions and we loved the store. The sunsets and sunrises were truly wonderous over the mountains and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

This house exceeded our expectations, big, beautiful, clean, gorgeous view, well-maintained property, close to conveniences, well equipped. My kids loved it from the second they walked in - all five of them. I would highly recommend this home to anyone and everyone. Thanks for a wonderful time Mike! Lindi and Andre

What can I say? The house was fantastic, the views were incredible and the ski conditions were epic (it snowed 58" at Jay Peak right before we got there). The house is very well appointed, warm and homely. We cooked some huge meals and even managed to grill up some steaks on the balcony, regardless of how cold it was at night. Ten of us slept comfortably and the house is very warm and efficient. No one bothers you and the silence was a welcome sleep aid. We had a varied group from DC, NYC, Manchester (UK), Albany and Scotland, and they all had a blast! I know I will come back next year, and I would recommend the Mountainview Trailview house to anyone planning a holiday up there. Thanks!

The Mountainview Trail House was the perfect fit for our group. It was comfortable, beautiful, peaceful, and convenient. We were well taken care of by the owners and had a fabulous weekend away from Boston. The drive to Jay Peak is easy and the skiing was great. I will definitely return some day. No complaints here!

OUTSTANDIND!! I've just got back from Jay Peak where I rented the Mountain View Trailhouse. I can truly say it was a very relaxing vacation due to in part our accomadations . It was like I never left home, the rental was newly renovated and didn't lack anything. If you're looking for ski rental accomadation and are worried that it's not on the hill, don't be fooled this rental will make up for it once you're there. I highly recommend this rental.

WOW ! What a fantastic home and location. The owners of the home really put a lot of thought and effort, in making sure their renters are accomodated and have a comfortable stay. The home is very roomy and exceptional clean. The views are beautiful. Skiing was great! Fresh snow 11" and 14" over the weekend. VAST trail runs behind the property. We will be bringing up snowmobiles our next booking in a few weeks. Wonderful stay !! Thank you !!
