The ULTIMATE family cottage getaway. Relax and play at a private beach just one block from Lake Michigan, this house on a quiet country road offers all the amenities of a cozy cottage in the woods. Surrounded by woods and gardens while relaxing in the screened-in porch, you will feel miles away from the hustle bustle of everyday life. Tastefully appointed, with 4 bedrooms(2 down, 2 up), two baths (up and down), and room for 10 or more, its a wonderful family get-away. The 2nd floor was completely remodeled in 2006 that includes a new bathroom, bedrooms with natural cedar walls, wood flooring, game area, and more.
Central air, wood floors, washer and dryer, firepit, and a secluded deck with a delightful outside shower. These are just a few of the amenities you will find.
Located just west of Glenn, a sleepy little town known as "Pancake Town USA" where locals commemorate the "Storm Of '37" with annual summer pancake breakfasts. Read all about it at the Glenn Restaurant just a mile to town. Glenn is an easy two hour drive from Chicago. Saugatuck is ten minutes north and offers excellent restaurants, galleries, and great shops not found in a typical town. South Haven, ten minutes south also has a wonderful harbor, with restaurants, beaches, and activities.

Having purchased our "dream cottage" in 2005, we ask that you respect our place. If you want to party loud, light fireworks, invite lots of friends, keep late hours on the beach, etc., then this place is not for you. Certainly we want you to have a good time, just do so with your family, friends, etc with respect for the area and neighbors. This is one of just a few rentals in this beach area and yet it is pretty sparse... you may only see a dozen people on the beach at any one time..
Our renovations in 2006 just made it that much more special. We added all new stainless appliances, a new 2nd floor with added room (dormers) new bathroom, new heating and central a/c, and lots more. We kept the rustic cottage feel with cedar walls, wood floors, and the Lake MI stone floor entrance hallway. The guest reviews have been very positive (see guest comments).
In 2008 we added an outdoor pond and rescreened the outdoor porch. New for this year is a wood burning type stove (actually propane) that flips on with a switch and keeps the place toasty on cool evenings in the summer. We also added a flat screen TV upstairs in the bedroom.

Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
Small group of homes spread out and close to the beach. This is a unique area that isn't as built up as most cottages by Lake MI. We discovered it when we visited friends who live in this small cluster of cottages and wondered why many lots were not built upon. With plenty of wooded space between cottages, we realized this was a special area. We investigated why, and found out there is a common water well used by all of the cottages and no new connections are allowed. Wow, surrounded by woods with little traffic and lots of privacy. Its the perfect place for a getaway.

The tranquil setting in the woods, private beach with miles of walking, lush sand dunes, nature preserve and hiking. Cleanliness with no surprises. The Frog Pond is a big hit, the hammock and screened in porch provide plenty of "relax time".
Earl's Berry Farm has the best local berries as well as yummy pie and other goodies.

We had a fantastic time in the cottage! We loved how close we were to the beach and had many fun adventures with the sand & water. The outside of the house also has a wonderful way to spend the days and nights... the hammock, frog pond, and patio provided lots of fun for us and the kids. The cabin was so cozy & comfy. Beds were really comfy - we all slept great. Loved the outdoor shower and all the hot water. The beach is beautiful, the 82 stairs were not that difficult to walk up (not as bad as it looked). We 4 sisters are not exactly what you would call atheletes, so if we can climb those stairs, anyone can! We saw a beautiful deer on the beach, some beautiful sunsets as well. Had fun grilling out, playing scrabble, cooking for each other, shopping, and just relaxing together. This was a much-needed reunion for the 4 of us. We decided to make this cabin our reunion site for next year too.

Rob, we had a great time staying in your cozy cottage. The kids loved the frogs in the pond, toys, & movies. We all enjoyed s'mores at the firepit as well as the access to a private beach on the lake. The people in Glenn are among the nicest we have encountered anywhere. Thanks for everything.

Rob, Thank you for sharing this hidden gem with us. The cottage is secluded and surrounded by many natural things, which allowed our children to tap into their deepest imaginations. By the way, the "frog pond", as our children called it, was a huge hit with them. You can't imagine how many hours of fun they had playing around it. Also, we didn't go a day without spending at least a couple of hours on the beach. Now we know why people often refer to the beach as "private"... not another soul to be seen. We will certainly cherish these memories for many years to come. Owner's comment: The An's purchased a home in the area just after their stay. The process went smoothly and I enjoyed working with them as their realtor.

We loved our stay in your wonderful cottage. It is unbelievably well appointed and perfectly fit for all ages. The frog pond, fire pit, hammock, and screened porch were our favorites. We enjoyed great family meals, s'mores by the fire and sunsets on the beach. In town, we loved the Dune Schooner ride, Oval Beach, and Wally's, oh, and picked delicious blueberries at Earl's - we mad two blueberry crisps in the week. The blend of the quiet woods, gorgeous sand beach, and close location to local towns make this cottage a gem. We certainly enjoyed ourselves inn our homey cottage. It sure is clean.
