Caroline was very accommodating and our stay was perfect. Her condo is very well equipped and there are also nice little things provided like beach towels and a cooler which was handy for picnics on the beach. It is located on the ground floor with easy access to the bbq grills and only steps away from the beach and relaxing swimming pool. The unit is well maintained and we slept comfortably. Great location to stay in Maui. We would definitely stay here again next time we're in Maui. Thanks Caroline!

Maui sunset amazing

Unit is located in a great part of town. The grounds are kept up each day and its like living in a golf course. Ground level suite was great as we could simply walk out to BBQ stations and enjoyed just sitting on grass or patio. Owner was good to deal with.

The Maui Sunset is a nice, medium sized, condo complex with beautifully maintained grounds and a very friendly vibe. We were very happy with the rental process and the accommodations. The owner was quite helpful and provided us with a list of local attractions and restaurants. Shortly after arrival, we sent an email to the owner reporting that the lanai screen was torn - she had a repairman there within hours to fix it. Our suite was exactly as advertised in the photos. It has one bedroom and two bathrooms. It has 3 beds (including a pull out sofa and a futon in the living room) - perfect for our family of four. We really liked the large kitchen bar (some suites have a much smaller kitchen counter). It was very handy for unpacking groceries and preparing picnics for the beach. There was generous storage space under both sides of the bar (and in the apartment as a whole).The other nice feature of this suite is that it is not overstuffed with furniture and personal items. It has strategically placed mirrors that make it look much larger than it is. It is also well stocked with kitchen items, linens,beach toys and towels. We loved being on the ground floor. We did not have an ocean view, but it was easy to access the bbq area and pool, we could stretch out from the lanai onto the soft grass and it was a short walk to the beach area. We found a floor plan of the complex on the internet and knew in advance that this suite was next to the elevator area. Unfortunately, the bedroom window looks into the elevator vestibule where there is a bright light and a humming pop machine (there is a black out curtain but light still gets in through the sides of the curtain). During our two week stay, we woke to people talking outside the window a few nights (possibly tourists heading out for sunrise at Haleakala). On balance, this was a minor inconvenience for us but something that might disturb a light sleeper. The only other problem with this suite is that it does not have wifi (it has an internet plug in cable - but this does not help if you travel with a tablet). However, our teens found unsecured wifi hot spots on the property so they could share their snorkeling photos. Because of the bedroom window, I am giving this suite 4 rather than a 5. Despite that problem, this suite is perfect for an active family looking for a clean, secure, nicely decorated and comfortable base from which to enjoy Maui. We would rent it again without hesitation.

Owner response: Thank you for your comments. We have since installed a wi-fi internet router. The soda pop machine you mentioned has been removed by the resort management. We will inform the resort to remind guests about the quiet hours at the resort. At times when tourists wake up early for excursions they forget that their voices can echo in the hallways much like in a hotel hallway. We have never had any complaints about sleeping in the bedroom but we will find a way to block out the outside light you mention that is seen at the edges of our blackout curtains in the bedroom.

The condo is in a great Kihei location, ground floor, centrally located, and quite. The grounds look as if you are on a well groomed golf course with a large pool and bbq grills. There are many restaurants close by, or the condo has all the facilities one would need to just cook and eat in. The beach is just at the end of the beautiful condo grounds. There is ample free parking, and security on duty. The owner of this condo is the best .... very accessible, very helpful with all activities/restaurants/shopping/things to see and do in the area, which is extremely helpful for anyone who may be going to Maui for the first time. Thank you for making our vacation a great first time visit !

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week in Caroline's condo which is updated, attractively decorated, clean and very comfortable. I love the lanai opening onto the wide grassy area--it makes the place seem all the more spacious. I think the Maui Sunset setting is perfect: beautiful vistas of the water and West Maui mountains, a great walking beach and all the pool, putting green, shuffleboard and croquet activities right on site. The resort itself is scrupulously maintained. While the beach is not a good swimming one, the location of Maui Sunset is perfect for us since all the Wailea beaches we love are just a short drive away. A car, however, is a must. The kitchen is well-equipped and the outdoor gas grills are just steps away. Although we usually cook dinner, one of our favorite restaurants, Sansei, is nearby. Don't miss their 50% off on Sundays and Mondays from 5-6. Some seasons this requires a very early arrival and a wait in line but in late August, it was not a problem. I think the rates for this unit are extremely reasonable and while Maui Sunset is not a fancy Wailea resort, neither do you pay Wailea prices. We found Caroline very accommodating and easy to work with. We will come again!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Awesome place!!!

What a treat! We had an absolute blast and feel that we were so lucky to find this place. Very well maintained with lots of the ammenities that are useful for being a vacationer. It's located on the ground floor which was ideal for kids . . . It's next to putting green, short trip to pool, tennis court, shuffle board, ocean. People were very friendly and we were made to feel completely at home. To top it off, there was a luau wedding reception on the grounds so we got a free show! We plan on going back to the same one next summer!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

First Wedding Anniversary

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our first wedding anniversary at a tropical destination and what better place than Maui, Hawaii. All the times that we spent in Maui we have always stayed at the Maui Sunset. Their grounds are absolutely immaculate, they are located fairly central to all amenities and activities, and having two bathrooms is an added bonus. There are simply too many great things to say about the place but you have to be there to experience it first hand. Mahalo once again Caroline, your condo felt like home away from home.

Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have visited Maui several times and always prefer to stay at the Maui Sunset. Caroline's condo is my favorite. Nice ground floor unit decorated very nicely with a perfect lanai for having our morning coffee and relaxing after a busy day. Everything was perfect in the condo! We can't wait to visit again.

Aloha Caroline,We had a great time visiting your condo earlier in the month. We’ve been home for a week but the kids still talk about Hawaii. We had a great visit – some of the highlights were the drive up to the peak at Haleakala, the Reefdancer out of Lahina, the Ioa valley, and the excellent Aquarium. Your condo at Maui Sunset was very nice. The direct access to the grass for the kids to play, and the proximity to the pool was very convenient. We spent a lot of time at the pool. We really enjoyed our visit to the island and are already planning a return trip. we are thinking of staying a month next year. what would be the rate on your unit for 30 days or so?? The condo was perfect for us, we especially liked that it was ground floor. our 2 year old daughter could just go out the door and play with other children in the complex and we could just watch from the patio or living room. I cant think of anything that would have made it any better of a unit. we used some of the toys and beach umbrellas. we cooked lots of meals at the condo so it was well equipped for that. we had fairly good weather except one day it rained over 3 inches!! a new record for maui in one day. thanks again and enjoy the season!! chuck, angela, and charlotte hoffman dayton, oregon

Caroline, we had a fantastic time in Maui and your condo was wonderful! The Maui Sunset is the perfect place to stay with kids. Although it was spring break and the place was pretty full, there were no loud evening parties and we couldn't hear our neighbors. Everyone hanging out at the pool or in the center courtyard were extremely nice and there was lots going on, but when you closed the sliding glass doors, you effectively blocked out any noise. That's perfect when your traveling with young kids who are going to bed at 7pm (also great for adults without kids, who don't have to listen to them running around at 5am in the morning!). I loved being on the ground floor, so that we could sit on the porch and watch the kids as they ran around outside. Your condo had all of the things we needed, plus some nice touches - the grass mats and boogie boards, the blender for mixed drinks. Thanks so much for making our trip to Maui such a delight! Aloha Caroline, Thank you for the note informing of the refund. We have been home for 1 week but it feels like much longer! We spent 3 wonderful weeks in Hawaii with the first stop being your condo at Maui Sunset. It was better than we imagined! Your unit is beautiful and the grounds are so well maintained. The "extras" were great. The cooler and beach chairs were put to good use. Anything we needed was available. Sunsets on the beach were fantastic! We traveled to 2 other islands and even though the other condos were nice, they couldn't top A-107 at Maui Sunset! We hope to return. With a little one it was so easy and relaxing to wake up in the morning, open the screen door and let her play out front while we ate breakfast and read the newspaper - something we haven't done in ages! Hi Caroline, We just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had this past Feb when we spent a month in your condo. Of all the units we have stayed in at the Sunset, your unit, #A-107 was by far the best. We especially like the ground floor, and easy access to the pool and BBQ grill area. Every thing was so clean and neat. I hope in the future we will have a chance to stay there again. Thanks again. Aloha, Stu and Sharon Johnson.
