Sweet Serenity

My husband and I completely enjoyed our stay at Northwest Point. The SUV was a complete package. We brought a cooler as a carry on and investigated the beaches everyday. The food at the restaurant was quite a disappointment, but we didn't come for the food. The view of the ocean is partially blocked from the by two palm trees Grace Bay and Bight Reef are a must. There were two beach chairs which we used everyday on our adventures. The condo is clean and breeze and we used the AC maybe three times total. The water in front of the resort was quite choppy and there was always a breeze. Sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen is a must. The property is very clean, secluded, and quiet. We felt very safe at the resort. We ate at Da Conch Shack twice only because we didn't get there until our last couple of days. This was a beautiful, easy going place to hang and eat conch fritters. Somewhere (name of restaurant) sits in front of Coral Gardens Resort at Bight Reef was another great place to watch people snorkeling in the reef. I had the fish tacos and they were to die for truely. The beaches were never crowded and at Malcolm beach my husband and I were the crowd. This was not a vacation that you say "I'm ready to go home." I couldn've stay another five to ten days. I'm not sure why anyone would complain, unless that was their job. LOL

Turks and Caicos Northwest Point Condo

We were looking for a very peaceful getaway - and it was. We almost had the whole place to ourselves. The pool, hot tub, beach...only a couple of times did we see anyone else there! Joe Hennebury (the owner) was helpful in answering our questions before we left home. If you plan on cooking while staying here, then bring your own spices from home along with some food storage containers (tupperware/zip lock bags). Also, bring enough snack foods from home - the prices on the island will make you glad that you did. The car that was provided with the room was a nice bonus. We planned on snorkeling a lot while there. We found that it was better if you hike along the beach toward the northwest point and enter the water a couple hundred yards before the osprey nest. Once in the water, keep heading northwest until you get to the reef. Check the tides, its best to avoid the low tide times when on this reef. We enjoyed this and it was very convenient (and free). We also booked a boat trip for snorkeling and it was better for seeing the sea life, however, we did see a lot while using the beach to access the reefs. Other things to know: the in-room phones cannot be use to make outside calls - the condo management rents cell phones for $5.00 (USD). The wireless internet connection was good (better speed than my DSL at home). The main tourist part of the island (resorts, restaurants, gift shops, etc.) are about a 20 minute drive away. The ceiling fan/light in the bedroom did not work.

Great stay

Guest: Juan M.
Date of Stay: 03/14/12 Review Submitted: 04/05/12

We have gone back to the island several times and we really enjoyed our stay. The Northwest Point resort is located at the Northwest end of the island. We came with our 2.5 year old and we love the apartment because it has a separate living room that we can enjoy when our son goes to sleep. The view is spectacular, and the unit has plenty of room along with a nice balcony. The resort is secluded and I enjoy running right on the beach off the resort to the actual Northwest point. The car is an extra plus with leather seats and allowed us to drive into Grace bay to explore Smith's reef. We were a little nervous because management at the resort has changed several times, but we were pleased to discover the resort continues to look great and have good maintenance. Joe's recommended Taxi guy (Wayne) is great. He is familiar with the resort and called mgmt to let them know we were on our way. For us the space, view, and breeze were important and Joe's unit captures all of this. We recommend visiting Chalk Sound. We just discovered this nice beach after several visits. Shallow water where you can walkout for 0.25 miles.

Owner response:Juan & Jana, Thank you for the nice review of our vacation hideaway. As repeat guest to our resort I appreciate you taking the time to write another great review. Your input gives our new guest important information and suggestions on areas to explore and thing to do on the island. Greatly appreciated I am sure by our new guest. As always My Very Best to you both. Joe…

Private, away from tourists, beautiful and clean

Guest: Travelnlight (Maine)
Date of Stay: 01/22/12 Review Submitted: 01/30/12

We enjoyed the quiet, peaceful, relaxing distance from the hub of tourists at Grace Bay. The drive was only about 10mins to the grocery store and restaurants. Manager showed us a close by beach where we enjoyed snorkeling and our very own private beach (we even saw a whale)! Could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary! Definitely grateful for the little SUV as the roads to Northwest Point are bumpy and rough. Resort was clean and quiet. Wish they had restaurant opened more often. We hope the area does not get built up too soon, its a well kept secret out at that end of the island :)

Owner response:Jason & Amy, Thank you for the nice review and glad to hear you enjoyed our Romantic Vacation Hideaway. You are correct it is a Vacation Hideaway secret. Like a Corona commercial

Guest: karencarib (Portland Oregon)
Date of Stay: 01/11/12 Review Submitted: 01/28/12

I highly recommend staying at Joe's condo. We were looking for peace, quite, pure relaxation, and that is what we found. We stayed for 10 nights and that was a perfect amount of time. We were there the2nd week of January, and most of the time we saw only the gardener. More than half the time we had the beach to ourselves, so we sat under a pallapa on the beach and read, swam, walked the beach and read some more. The beach was like a corona beer commercial. The condo is small, but certainly adequate. A full kitchen, so we cooked our meals. All was in good condition. There is a small balcony to sit out on with a table and chairs. The view is not straight on the beach, but there is plenty of ocean view, not to mention lovely palm trees right by. To go to the grocery store takes about 20-25 minutes, partly because there are a couple of miles of rugged dirt road. That did make a think twice about leaving the property for shopping, etc.. The car is a good one in fine working order. The grocery store in town is quite good and we found all that we needed for cooking our meals at the condo. We certainly will go back, when we are in need of pure peace a relaxation.

Owner response:David & Karen, Thank you for the nice review and glad to hear you enjoyed our Romantic Vacation Hideaway. I couldn’t have phrased it any better;” The beach was like a corona beer commercial“. You are correct the road on the last 1.4 miles to the resort can be bumpy in spots especially after a little rain. Fortunately for us the Government sends out a grader to smooth the road about once every 3 month and less time if conditions warrant. So most of the time the road is in good shape. Thank you both for such a nice review. Remember returning guest receive an additional 10% off our already discounted rates. Thanks again. My Best; Joe…

Relaxing

Guest: Dave and Deb (Northwest Indiana)
Date of Stay: 05/29/11 Review Submitted: 06/12/11

The trip was great!! The condo had everything you needed and more. Joe was very helpful and responded to any questions we had. Pete and Mike and the staff were great!! If you want a relaxing, quiet and fun vacation this is the place. There were no more than 8 people at the pool or beach and that was a crowd as most times there is nobody. If you want nightlife the resorts are a short ride away. We ate mostly at the condo ( be prepared to pay about 30-40% more for food at the IGA). Find the Hole in the Wall restaurant. Good food and cheap. The restaurant at the resort has good food (limited menu) and the drinks are great, but was only open on the weekends when we were there. The wild horse and wild dogs were cool and did not bother anyone. My wife hand fed the horse. The local people were friendly and cool to talk to. We will be back many times in the future. Snorkels, fins and other water toys were available for your use. The grounds were maintained everyday as well as the beach swept. Can't think of anything negative about the island or the resort. The car was a big plus as it rained a few days and we were able to find sun at Grace Bay or visa versa. Gas is about $6.00 per gallon and they pump it for you. Buy your booze at the Wine Cellar, it is the cheapest. The local Bambarra rum is great. Thanks for everything Joe.

Incredible Experience

Guest: Molly and Andy (Oxford, Maine)
Date of Stay: 04/17/11 Review Submitted: 05/07/11

Our stay met our expectations and much more. We rarely choose to return to places we stay, because there are so many great places in the world yet to visit. But this time we found ourselves saying, "I would come back here again." The condo lacked nothing. Every time we said, " sure could use..." or "it would be nice to have..." it had been provided. The owners have been extremely thoughtful in everything from comfortable furnishings, bright and tasteful decor, a well equipped kitchen, and a providing a comfortable reliable vehicle. The constant warm breeze as we slept was a delight. The location of the condo within the complex was perfect, second floor, great view, and very private. Life was made easy, just what a vacation should be. The resort was outstanding, always perfectly groomed and well managed. Peter and his friendly crew were very helpful and a delight talk with. Outstanding pool/hot tub and a beach that could be walked for miles. Never crowded and we often had them both to ourselves. Gentle turquoise water and excellent swimming. Took a tour of the island, trip to Graceway IGA to stock up for the week, and lunched at The Conch Shack (fritters are to die for). The rest of our time was spent at the Resort or exploring the other beaches of the undeveloped Northwest Point. Couldn't have asked for more because we had it all. Thank you Joe for a terrific stay. You were very helpful with information that prepared for our visit. We do expect to return and will tell our friends and family about the little piece of heaven we have discovered.

Close to Paradise

Guest: Paul & Margery (Upstate NY, USA)
Date of Stay: 02/05/10 Review Submitted: 05/27/10

The condo was great, exactly what we expected, very clean, bright, and fairly private. What we liked most was how remote and secluded it was from the rest of the island, very quiet at night and sleeping in was all too easy. Having access to the SUV was a huge plus; it made picking up supplies easy, and we were able to explore the island without hiring expensive taxis. After spending a full day swimming, exploring, hiking, we often felt like staying in as night fell, so having a full kitchen made that possible and far less expensive than eating out. Early morning breakfast on the deck was a treat, listening to the waves on the beach, watching the sun come up, always accompanied by a hot cup of coffee and fresh fruit. We made use of the resort's amenities. The swimming pool and hot tub were maintained beautifully. It was hit or miss as to whether the restaurant would be open, but that was just part of the fun. Good thing we had food in the fridge, and Da Conch Shack, one of our favorite places to eat, was close by. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves, but perhaps because it was February, the water was cloudy and not good for snorkeling. That was our biggest disappointment. (The other was the lack of hot water for showering. It was tepid, but not hot.) The beach at the north end was gorgeous, with rough surf and a rocky, jagged shore. We took plenty of long walks on several beaches, enjoying the scenery, plus the ospreys and pelicans that kept us company. We would recommend this condo to vacationers looking for peace and quiet, complete with a view of palm trees, white sands, and turquoise water.

Great value for the price!

Date of Stay: 06/08/09 Review Submitted: 06/22/09

My wife and I spent 10 days at NWP Resort for our honeymoon. We rented direct with the owner (Joe) whose unit includes an SUV to use during your stay. The location is secluded with beautiful plants-flowers and the unit is spacious with a small safe. Our 2nd floor balcony had a great view of the ocean. We had wireless internet from in the living room, as well as satellite TV. We shopped at IGA, cooking meals in the kitchen for breakfasts-lunches and ate our dinners out. The pool was clean with little chlorine. A large hammock is located in a gazebo between the beach and pool. The beach is wide with six cabanas and was raked of seaweed with a tractor every morning. One thing missing was built in tables on the cabana posts to set drinks. The water is crystal clear and there is a small coral reef about a hundred yards straight out from the end of the boardwalk to the beach. We saw some nice coral and colorful fish snorkeling here. There is also a sandbar up the beach (northwest) on which you can walk out hundreds of yards and still only be waste deep. The wind is almost always blowing, which was awesome. It keeps you cool and keeps most of the mosquitoes away from the beach at night. Having the SUV allowed us access to other parts of the island and we adjusted to driving on the left side of the road quite easily. We never felt unsafe anywhere on the island. The drive to the resort is completely dark for about 15 minutes at night. The resort is quiet and peaceful with the sounds of the wind-ocean and very little light pollution. Most of the units appeared occupied, yet we rarely saw other guests. The only notable noise resulted from someone on the 1st first floor who sometimes slammed the door exiting their unit. The Central AC worked great. Overall this unit at Northwest Point Resort is a fabulous value! If your picky be advised the resort is a little worn compared to newer resorts, but still very nice. The bed and pillows were a bit hard, the linens were a bit stiff, and the bedroom ceiling fan was too noisy to use when sleeping. The bathroom towels needed replaced but thank goodness the unit had two nice beach towels (we forgot to pack ours)! I told Joe about the noisy fan and he is getting it replaced. Joe is a great guy who will give you tips about the island, where to go and what to see. If you’re looking for a secluded location in Provo that offers an incredibly affordable price, we highly recommend this unit! It was very romantic!

Paradise

Guest: Jim & Teri (Omaha, NE)
Date of Stay: 02/12/09 Review Submitted: 03/06/09

My husband and I stayed at the NW Point Resort in February 2009 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. What we found was total paradise. The condo was wonderful. Nicely decorated, fully supplied, cozy and comfortable. The resort itself was a beautiful secluded escape from reality. The grounds and gardens are absolutely breathtaking. The plants and flowers are amazing. The beach was great. Nice soft sand and relaxing furniture. Jim and I walked the beach in the mornings, mostly toward the NW point, and rarely saw anyone else around. Total solitude and privacy. That is exactly what we were looking for. And we found it there. We had read some reviews about the drive to the resort, dirt road, long drive, etc.... I can assure you that the dirt road was actually better than some paved roads on the island. The dirt road was only 5 minutes of the final drive to the resort. It is not any farther to drive to the NW Point Resort from the airport than it would have been to drive to Grace Bay from the airport. We visited the Grace Bay area several different times. Beautiful beach and area. But, very busy with resort after resort. Lots of construction going on. I'm so glad we stayed out at the NW Point. The SUV provided by Joe with his condo was great. You definitely need a car on the island. The grocery store was only about a 15 minute drive. We bought groceries at the IGA and grilled out some nights at the resort and also ate in town at some different restaurants. The one we liked the best was the Mango Reef at the West Indies Resort. We drove around the island and found some different beaches to spend the day at and some beautiful areas to watch the sunset. Sunrises were fantastic right there at the NW Point resort. The hot tub was great and relaxing. Although we never made it into the pool (always at the beach), it looked beautiful. On a personal note, the condo owner, Joe, was very helpful with all the arrangements. When our airline changed their schedule, we needed to stay 2 extra days on the island. Joe's condo was already booked for the 2 days. When I called him for suggestions on where to stay our last two nights, he took it upon himself to call the resort as well as another resort on the island to check availability and prices for us. He found us another condo at NW Point, made all the arrangements and got us a very good deal. He was a delight to work with.

Owner response:Jim & Teri thank you for the great review. I am so glad you enjoyed you stay and had time to explore the rest of the Island. I look forward to your next visit and as alway returning guest receive a ten percent discount. My Best; Joe...

Northwest Point Resort“Very Peaceful”Boston, MA Jan 2, 2008 4/5 found this review helpfulMy wife and I stayed at the Northwest Point resort over Christmas, and we both agreed that it was our best Caribbean vacation to date. We’ve traveled a lot and typically stay in the best hotels so have fairly high standards. We were there during busiest time of the year and even at full capacity we felt like we had the pool and beach to ourselves. This was definitely not the case when we explored other resorts on the island. It should be mentioned that most resorts on the islands offer condos with kitchens, so the resorts typically only have one restaurant, if that. The Northwest Point doesn’t have a high-end restaurant (they have a poolside restaurant that serves lunch and drinks), as some of the resorts do, but you will want to try the local spots anyway. The views from our room were unbelievable and the sound of the ocean and wind at night (the Northwest side of the island is windier) were perfect. We recommend that you rent a car and that way you can get the best of both worlds - you get the exclusion of the Northwest Point but can explore the bars, restaurants and other resorts and beaches if you like. The current property managers took over recently and did a better job booking our activities than a hotel concierge service. We were hesitant to have them book reservations for us before we arrived, but you really are better off just trusting their judgment and planning in advance before things book up. They know everyone on the island and have worked on the island in the food and beverage industry for years. When you mention they sent you, you’ll get VIP service. If you are looking to get away from things and for some peace and quiet, this is the perfect place.·This TripAdvisor Member: oLiked — Peaceful This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. pmtam's SummaryDate of Stay: December 2007Traveled with: Spouse / significant otherVisit was for: Romantic getawayAge group: 25-34Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend?Absolutely! May 6, 2006: "We definitely will return." Rating: We just left the Northwest Point Resort on Provo. The week we spent was fabulous. The resort is located at the end of the road and this is a good thing. There are very few people at the pool and beach. Never more then six in either place. The pool area and grounds are very attractive and well landscaped. There is a small restaurant so you can get a drink. The walk to the beach from the room takes less than one minute. Down the stairs, across the pool and a few feet on the boardwalk and you are on a beautiful beach. You can walk long distances in either direction. The sand is white and soft. Umbrellas and chairs are provided. Heaven. The room was great. Clean, modern, well maintained. We had satellite TV. There is also a VCR/DVD player. Everything was provided including detergent to wash the dirty clothes. We were very comfortable. Provo is a great place to visit. There was an excellent restaurant to visit every night. Great food and very romantic. The water is beautiful. A half day sailing trip with Sail Provo was terrific. Driving on the left hand side of the road was easy. The first few minutes is a little confusing, but after that you will have no problem. Rory and Jill were great hosts at Northwest Point Resort. We definitely will return. May 20, 2006: "Northwest Point Resort" Rating: My girlfriend and I arrived at the Northwest Point Resort on 4/29/06 for vacation and left on 5/6/06. In that time there wasn't a drop of rain in the day or night and the temperature during the day was 83-94 degrees F and at night it dropped to around 70 degrees F. The condo we stayed in was clean and very nice. It was complete with everything you needed for a great vacation. The resort was very quiet and we saw very few people the week we stayed. The beaches on Provo are absolutely beautiful with not a soul to be seen on some of them. We were very fortunate that our condo came with a car (4x4) so we got to explore a lot of the Island and beaches. If you are interested in getting away for some privacy , rest and relaxation then I would highly suggest the Northwest Point Resort. The taxi service is expensive on the island so I would suggest renting a vehicle (4x4). The roads aren't the greatest. The resort had fins to snorkel with, which we did everyday. The reviews I read before we went said that the snorkeling and diving was awesome. They weren't kidding. The island is surrounded by reefs so the underwater wildlife is spectacular. On the last day of our vacation 40-50 yards off of the Northwest Point Resort beach we ran into a 4 1/2 - 5 foot barracuda which came within inches to us just to check us out ( Thank God ). Walking past the sparkling pool of the resort and down to the resorts beach we took a left and walked to the end of the point and saw an Osprey's nest with 2 Osprey's. We also ran into some very friendly locals in that area fishing and they were more than happy to show us their catch. "Yellow tail snapper " I think they said. Malcolm beach a 5- 10 minute ride from the resort was a beautiful beach also. We snorkeled there twice. Among the rocks on Malcolm beach( to the right when you get there) there was a little coved area with sand that we hung out in and snorkeled from there. There were reefs 20-30 yards off shore from there. To the left was a very beautiful resort called Arman Yara. We had lunch there one day and the waves on their beach were crashing so hard that when you were body surfing the waves would actually toss and turn you under water and the next thing you know your tumbling on your back on the sand on the beach. You get up and do it again and again and again until you've had enough because your exhausted from the ocean beating you up ever so gently. Long bay beach.... Another

May 10, 2006: "Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate" Rating: If you are looking for the ultimate in rest and relaxation--the Northwest Point Resort is the place for you!! My husband and I spent 9 days at the Northwest Point Resort (April 19-28, 2006) and couldn't have picked a more wonderful spot!! It was exactly the kind of vacation we were looking for--a Caribbean island without the crowds. There were many days that we had the entire beach and/or the pool to ourselves. The grounds at the Resort are just gorgeous and the entire place is immaculate. Rory and Jill, who manage the resort, are wonderful and extremely helpful. We rented a one bedroom condo that had everything we needed. Even the laundry detergent is provided. So between one trip to the grocery store and the Sunset Grill we were set. Pollyann and Cassie, who run the grill are awesome! And Cassie can cook! The food and the drinks were excellent. We did go to Provo for a half day of shopping which was plenty. There are not a lot of shops there, which didn't matter to us because we don't travel to shop. We had breakfast at the Saltmills Cafe, which was excellent. Please say hello to Alina for us if you go there! We walked the beach at Grace Bay and while it's a gorgeous place, it is just hotel after hotel there and not what we were looking for. Two nights we went to eat at the Tiki Hut at the marina in Turtle Cove. Try the conch pizza--it's excellent. We also stopped at a few of the local places on the road to the resort. There is one place in particular that has great deck over the ocean. It's a great place to relax and have a Turks Head beer. We absolutely loved our time at the Northwest Point Resort and we would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a beautiful spot to unwind, relax and soak up the sun!!
