Don't take our word for it; read this testimonial from a recent guest: "We loved the rental! The bikes that were available for our use came in very handy. The kids enjoyed crabbing down at the dock, catching frogs, and shelling on the beach. The firepit was handy for smores in the evening, yum! The beach was just a 5 min walk. The laundry facilities were handy with the beach towels. There was so much to do and see. The light house, Fort Pulaski, and Savannah were so fascinating. The #2 King Fish Unit, as well a the #4 Panormaic View Unit, each have three bedrooms, and sleep a maximum of 8 guests; each has its own private entrance, with ample parking, so there is absolutely no need to hassle with the car! And did we say, Great Fishing !!!

The downstairs, #2 King Fish Unit, is located on the ground floor, very near the marsh and small creek that flows from the main branch of the river and Horsepen Creek. If you're a self-professed "city girl", perhaps you may be more at home in our beautiful upstairs "Panoramic View Unit"! The downstairs King Fish Unit, nestled so near the marsh, brings with it - some very special neighbors! A tiny wayward "fiddler crab" might just wander over to welcome you! You will probably see a racoon crossing the yard on his way to his marshy home, great blue herons, and white egrets abound! Don't be frightened if you see the occasional "palmetto bug" that flies out of the moss laden live oaks, and lush green foliage; inevitable during the heat of those sultry summer southern days. The fish are teaming, and nature abounds at the nearby dock and dock house; it's the perfect "back to nature" venue for the whole family! Don't worry, that fin you might see, is just a dolphin swimming his way up the creek!

Tybee Island is where local award winning artist and writer,
Debbie Brady Robinson, grew up. The stories that Debbie writes are often about growing up during what she refers to as, "Tybee Times in the 20th Century", and are published in The "Tybee Breeze" local entertainment magazine. Most of the fun-filled adventures that Debbie tells took place here on Horsepen Creek and what is now the Tybee Dockside Inn.

Tybee Island is a tiny little island paradise, only two-and-three-fourths miles long, and three-fourths of a mile wide, surrounded by beach and ocean on one side, and river or creeks and marsh on the other side. You can walk or ride your bike to everywhere!

Yes, we said, G r e a t F i s h i n g ! Jump off the dock, swim with the fish, or catch them on a a fishing line! Have fun boating, fishing, crabbing, swimming, kayaking, or just enjoy the cool summer breeze while relaxing inside the rustic dockhouse and watching the herons and egrets in their natural marsh-side habitat.

The fun just never ends!

The Dockside Inn is located directly on Horsepen Creek, only four short blocks, and a quick walk down the end of the street to the public beach and the Atlantic Ocean!

Why the Owner Chose Tybee Island

Debbie was fortunate enough to inherit this property, along with her brother Jim, that she refers to as Utopia! Spending every waking moment, from early Spring to late fall, in Horsepen Creek, held adventures that even Tom Sawyer could appreciate!

The Unique Benefits at this House

Tybee, of course, has been voted as the #1 Healthiest Beach in Americal! In addition, in ranks near the top for the most beautiful beaches in America, too! But, not everyone understands or appreciates the beauty and nature of Tybee's creeks and rivers. Low tide, and High tide are different as night and day. At low tide, you can walk the sandy bottom creek, with scoop net in one hand and bucket in the other, whoosh down, and snatch up a big blue crab - steamed up, as sweet and succulent as anything you can imagine eating! Or, squiggle your toes down in the sand, and pull up some fresh clams, perfect for chowder or fritters! At High tide, fish directly off the dock, and catch red drum (our spot tail bass), flounder, trout and more!

Enjoy a great fish fry and the dock with all of your delectibles caught during the day, and lay back and enjoy the breath taking sunset over Horsepen Creek! And, if you're an early morning riser, make the five minute walk to the beach and enjoy the glorious sunrise over the majestic Atlantic Ocean! Ahhh, this is the life, ya'll!!

Owner's Map of Tybee Island

Owned and operated by Tybee native, Debbie Brady Robinson, the Tybee Dockside Inn is located directly on Horsepen Creek, is where Debbie grew up. (The photo of the lady with the string of fish is of Debbie's Mom Chris who is the real fisherman in the family! Debbie's brother Jim, was the champion flounder gigger, and Debbie herself, the 2006 Tybee Island Pirate's Queen, also held the Queen of the "crab scooping" unofficail title for much of the 20th century while she was growing up on Tybee!

Debbie often writes about her experiences growing up on Tybee in her "Tybee Breeze" column, "You Heard it in the Breeze", where she recounts, what she refers to as growing up during "Tybee Times in the 20th Century"! Debbie, five time "Best Local Artist" award recipient, also owns and operates the Award Winning, Atlantic Beacon Gallery, Local Art and GIfts business on Tybee, along with he husband Mark Robinson - owner and operator of Hall of Frames Custom Framing , located on the south end of Tybee, (at Hwy 80's End), 1604 Butler Ave (heading south, it's just 2 1/2 blocks past the third light on the left. It is also the headquarters for the Atlantic Beacon's Beach Vacation Rentals package and key pick up location for their Tybee Dockside Inn Vacation rentals!

Awesome Family Memories!

Guest: Scott (Gasport, NY)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 02/08/12

This place is an awesome family getaway on Tybee. We have stayed with Debbie twice and she is an awesome hostess, checking on us several times during our week in paradise. We have stayed both upstairs and down and love them both. We are far from prissy city folks, but are a well traveled mid 40’s couple with teenagers. We travel with other families when we come to Tybee and we always host the dinner parties at “our” home on Tybee. The Dockside is not the Ritz Carlton, but is always clean and ready for us, and the quiet back street setting is awesome. I wake up each morning to surf fish when we are there and it literally takes less than a half a cup of coffee to walk to the beach for the sunrise. At night the sunset over the marsh is one of my favorites in the world. The rising and falling tide in your back yard is awesome and fishing in the creek is like Forrest Gump chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get. To have the extra room to play and relax as a family is priceless, I wish for you and your family the number of great memories that we have made at Deb’s on TYBEE! Scott, Pam, Maron and Luke

Owner response:It's always a delight to have guests, continuously thrilled with the experience, return year after year! You really do have to experience it, for yourself, to appreciate all there is to offer; like a box of chocolate - and as Scott (and Forrest Gump) says, you never know what you’re gonna get! So come on down to our little piece of paradise and experience it for yourself! We think you'll love it!

Quiet and secluded; Clean and comfortable, we've discovered a little piece of paradise!

Guest: Ronnie (St. Louis, Mo)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/12/11

What a beautiful setting! We enjoyed crabbing off the dock every day; and loved the short walk to the beach. We all loved the sunsets over the creek; and a few of us got up early to enjoy the sunrises over the beach, too. Even when it's hot, hot, and still, there's a beautiful breeze at the Dock House. The Kingfish unit was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked with any type of dish or pot we needed. It was great for boiling up all those crabs! What a ball; we'll definitely be back. We hightly recommend the Tybee Dockside Inn on Horsepen Creek!

Owner response:Our guests love the clean and cozy Kingfish unit, with all the comforts of home! And the Tybee Dockside Inn is the perfect location; crabbing off the dock, or shelling at the beach! Definitely no need to hastle with the car! And, the views - sunsets over the creek, or sunrises at the ocean - Key West has nothing on us! Come on and join us; you're gonna love it!

Wonderful vacation while feeling at home

Guest: Kathy (Kentwood, LA USA)
Date of Stay: 04/30/11 Review Submitted: 05/10/11

My husband, our four-year-old son, and myself had been planning this vacation for almost a year and I have to say, it was better than we could've imagined! Some things were not as I had imagined, but I had never been on THAT side of the country ( we live in south Louisiana). We were made to feel at home immediately, and Debbi, knowing we had travelled over 12 hours to get there, called us just as we were getting into Savannah to tell us she had made arrangements for us to get in the house early so we could rest! How welcomed was that news! We will definitely be back as soon as we can! If a family vacation--- one without bells and whistles--- is what you are looking for, complete with a park just down the street, bikes to ride to the beach ( a few blocks STRAIGHT down the street), and wonderful people that smile and greet you like they are glad to share the neighborhood, then this is the place to go! Hope you love it as much as we do!

Owner response:Always wonderful to hear that our guests, who become fast friends, are thrilled and anxoius to come back! Guests enjoy the comforts of home in the Kingish Unit, and love the rustic atmosphere of the dockhouse, where the Breeze is eternal! And the fun just never ends on the dock and in the creek! A quick walk or bike ride to the beach, and just a few blocks away to a great play ground for the kids; it's the perfect laid back, island destination get away vacation! We love seeing our guests return as friends again and again, year after year!

A little Tybee Treasure

Guest: tinab. (Port Royal SC, USA)
Date of Stay: 05/07/11 Review Submitted: 05/09/11

I needed a one night stay on beauitful Tybee while visiting Atlantic Beacon Gallery and Debbie was very inviting & friendly, she just happened to have that night open! Yeah a night on Tybee Island. This is a treasure place to find, clean, bright, roomy with a very comfortable bed. I stayed in unit no. 2 , love the yellow doors, a three bedroom comfy cottage, filled with light in the afternoon. I felt my belongings and car very safe as it sits back off the road, a little place unto it's self. I like to walk or bike ride, this is just far enough I get my exercise in! I was also looking for a peaceful nature stay as well, in the morning I could hear the distant beach waves & the wind in the pines ahhhhhh. .Another treasure is the short walk behind the cottage to the creek where fishing & crabing or setting by a fire adds joy to the adveturere in me Plus quite a sunset view!.As I take my am stroll a cute wild bunny rabbit just sat and watched :) I can see my self taking my Kayak next time. Debbie and Mark are two of the nicest people on this planet. Overall I will use this as my main stay place, I like the easy southern charm & friendly faces. I highly recommend checking this place out to my adventure & Tybee seeking friends.

Owner response:Wonderful review, who could ask for more! So delighted to hear such sweet sentiment, and a genuine rave review from Tina about our place! We love it, so glad that she did, too! It really is a little piece of heaven! Ya'll come, take your shoes off - get a little sand between your toes and stay awhile! The Tybee Dockside in and Tybee Beach, its THE place to be :)
