We just returned to Texas from our stay at Stone's Throw...it was fabulous and we'd rather still be there. The cabin is rustic, cozy and just down right relaxing. The Highlands' shopping and dining area is charming and had all our family needed...which wasn't much since Mark and Chris had the cabin "move in ready." We loved visiting the local waterfalls (Dry Falls, Whitewater Falls & Cullasaja Falls are must see), watching the sunset over Highlands from Sunset Rock, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, and horseback riding at Whitewater Equestrian. I would strongly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away from the big city, yet likes having modern conveniences right around the corner. Thanks for everything Mark and Chris.

We have been enjoying Stones Throw since Feb. 2007 and it is our first choice of places to go when we want to chill out and get away. Mark & Chris have anticipated our every need to feel right at home. We are in love with the place.

This cabin was a darling, cozy cabin. My husband & I and our children absolutely loved it. Our kids were able to run around without the fear of disturbing others. Plus, with the privacy fence around the property, our kids could go outside and we didn't have to worry about them going far. We also loved the fact that everything was already provided for us to use, such as towels, sheets, pillows, etc. It truely gave us the comfort of home without being home.

We love Highlands and have been coming up for 10 years to celebrate our birthdays. We have stayed in quite a few places but this cabin is definitely our favorite. So peaceful, warm & cozy.

Stone’s Throw has the charm of an old log cabin but is extremely clean, well maintained and has all the modern conveniences we could want. Having free long distance service and Wi-Fi capability so we could get high-speed internet access on our laptop computer was a nice bonus.

The Stone's Throw Cabin was everything and more than we expected! If you want the perfect cabin for any time of year, this is it! We have been coming to Highlands for over 17 years and have stayed in many many places. This is truly on of the best! For cozy, comfortable and has everything you need. We enjoyed Wine and Happytizers each afternoon and evening on the porch and enjoyed grilling out both nights! Just try it.. you won't be disappointed! We will be back in the very near future. Thank you Mark and Chris!

The loving, thoughtful touches make Stone’s Throw so charming. The cabin is well supplied, clean and we loved being only ½ mile from town. We plan to be back to visit our new home away from home.

Reviewed on 04/15/2011 for a stay on 12/01/2010 Stone's Throw was the perfect get away this past winter! The cabin is very charming, cozy and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. During spring, summer and fall the back porch must be a relaxing place to hang out with family and friends. It is very convenient to Highlands, NC which has shopping and restaurants. Lots of great hiking in the area, too, which is why we went. The owners, Mark and Chris, were very nice and easy to work with! We would definitely go back!!

From the time & effort you took to make sure your guests had everything they need to the cute decorating of the cabin, nothing was left out. You should teach a rental property course.

The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. It is very well maintained and comfortable. Very clean. It is private and located nearby Highlands where there are great shops and restaurants. Check in and all paperwork was handled promptly and with great courtesy.

Stones Throw Cabin is located close to the town of Highlands. It is very clean and comfortable - not fancy, but charming. We cooked a good bit and found the kitchen very well equipped. Perfect getaway for a small family, couple, or two couples who want to enjoy town, but also hike and enjoy the lake. I have stayed there twice and enjoyed both trips.

The layout was perfect with each of the two bedrooms & bathrooms on opposite sides of the family room. The kids loved the games, books and videos provided. We hiked near the cabin, canoed on Lake Sequoyah and fed the ducks on Mirror Lake. Life doesn’t get much better than this.

Reading by the stone fireplace, listening to raindrops on the tin roof, waking up to chirping birds and sipping my morning coffee on the porch was a welcome escape from the fast-paced city life.

The cabin is great - two couples had all the room and privacy we needed; internet access, nice neighborhoods to walk in nearby. The owner checked to make sure all was ok a couple of times, and was really pleasant and helpful.Kitchen was well stocked.

Like all of those that have written in the guest book before us, we are so impressed with Stone’s Throw and thankful we had the opportunity to experience all the splendor of Highlands while staying in this adorable cabin. P.S. All of us agreed the beds were amazingly comfortable.

We loved our stay at Stone's Throw. We are a couple in our 60's, that recently got together . We found each other through Facebook, after being high school sweethearts in 1963. We found Stone's Throw exactly what we were looking for. If you go there, pray for a night of rain, the metal roof will play you a tune. We plan to visit again soon.

The cottage is semi-rustic and very comfortable. This is our third year to spend a four or five-day get-away at Stone's Throw. We love it. There are great hikes to waterfalls, mountain trails, or just around the town of Highlands.

We had a lovely time at Stone's Throw! The kitchen was stocked with basics (a few spices, salt, pepper, basic canned goods, plenty of cookware, utensils, dishes, etc) so that we didn't have to bring everything from home. The common area was very cozy with a gas fireplace, magazines, books, and games. The bedrooms were nicely appointed. And, the view from the back porch was great. The cabin is close to the downtown/main street area of Highlands; you could probably walk there but sidewalks don't go all the way. Behind the cabin is a small road/lane around a small lake which is nice to walk around. All in all, we had a nice, relaxing time and would definitely recommend this location to others!
