Keywords: House
NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE YEAR ROUND: A Unique property- a combination of the original La Jolla Beach cottage that has been enlarged and modernized without losing its historic charm. Being just one house behind the famous Wind'nSea beach (listed by Men's Journal as one of the most famous in the world) allows the ocean view and falling asleep to the sound of the surf with greater privacy.
The entire property is about 10 feet above street level, promoting privacy. There are 2 full sun decks and a shaded patio that is cool and quiet; it is comfortable for outdoor dining or entertaining, and has a soft tub spa. The house remains cool from the ocean breezes, making air-conditioning unnecessary.
The upstairs master suite has its own deck that is a spectacular place to watch the sun set over the ocean, an indoor "crow's nest" for reading or sunset viewing, a fireplace and comfortable seating with a view of the garden and the ocean. This area is large enough that there could be an sprivate and separate area for a small child to be near parents or for an infant crib or pack'nplay.
The den opens out onto the patio, and you can enjoy music from the stereo anywhere in the house. The sofa in the den opens out to a Queen size bed. Since the room can be closed off, this room serves as the fourth bedroom.
The 3rd bedroom currently has a very comfortable single bed, but there is room for a comfy mattress or blow-up mattress. It could sleep 2-3 children easily, or be a lovely private space for an adult.
The kitchen in fully equipped as I love to cook. There is a BBQ and a choice of outside eating areas, either in full sun or shade. There are more cookbooks than you will ever be able to use.
The neighborhood has wonderful walks. The old "Village" of La Jolla is just over a mile away, with its charm and lovely restaurants and shops. Bird Rock has a variety of small neighborhood restaurants and stores, and is about a 5-10 minute walk. Scripps Aquarium and the Salk Institute are also nearby. The park at the Cove has free Sunday afternoon concerts. San Diego, with its famous Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World,Museums and many theatres is 20 - 30 minutes away.
Wonderful sports activities abound:
San Diego boasts over 65 golf courses, and its most famous, Torrey Pines, is a municipal courses, just 15 minutes away. There are several free tennis courts within a mile.
At WindnSea you can swim, sun, walk, roam tide pools, BBQ, boogey board, surf and kayak.
Boating, sailing, jet-skiing, wind-surfing and fishing is nearby.

An Amazing Property!

We just finished an amazing week in La Jolla staying at this wonderful property. We had 3 married couples and a 2 year old, and the house was perfect for us. The two year old had wonderful gardens and patio spaces to explore outside; there were 3 full bathrooms, so each couple had their own space, and the house and furnishings were beyond charming!! This house was filled with character--unlike most of the rentals you would find near a beach. It was obvious it had been a home, and we felt very much at home for our week there. I would have to say the house was even better than what we expected from the pictures. The pictures certainly don’t do justice to the the master suite upstairs! It was an amazing space, with a sitting area, office space and French doors to the outside balcony. Not to mention the Crow’s Nest (the two year old loved going up and down the ladder!) We were able to leave the French doors open at night and enjoy the ocean breeze and sounds of the surf! Nina was available and always helpful with any of our questions. We loved the tip about the wonderful Farmer’s Market on Sunday!! La Jolla was quiet and restful—didn’t feel touristy at all—yet we made several day trips to the Zoo and to SeaWorld. Even took a hike in the beautiful Torrey Pines State Park nearby. We would most definitely return to this house if our travels ever bring us to La Jolla again!

Great location 30 seconds from Wind'NSea Beach, a quieter beach with large rock outcroppings: great for a morning run, sand and surf play with the kids in the afternoon, we even saw a few surfers and boogie-boarders in the evenings. (If you want acres of white sand and hoards of people, you will have to drive up the coast just a little to La Jolla Beach.) Lovely Craftsman style home with beautiful upstairs master suite and crow's nest. Outdoor eating/entertaining space. Owner in apartment on site if you need anything. Street parking.

This wonderful home is full of charm, very clean and comfortable with multiple places to spread out and relax both indoors and out. Windansea beach is "rightthere" and the crow's nest in the master is a cozy spot to look out to the sea. The owner is conveniently located on the property to answer questions and provide great information about the area. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Owner response:I was able to provide a last minute stay for a family who wanted to celebrate their older mother, and needed a house that was wheelchair acessible, had comfortable outside spaces and is convenient to stroll by the ocean. Wind'n Sea is one of the most beautiful in the world accoring to Men's Journal). They had rented another VRBO property that was not up to their standards ( they are also VRBO owners) and I felt happy to be able to help so that they could concentrate on their time together.

Second Year in a Row!

Spent our second year in a row in this great home. Family of 5, plenty of room, great location. Owner is great to work with - responsible, accessible, and a font of knowledge regarding the surrounding area. So nice to stay in a roomy home with full kitchen, washer and dryer, plenty of baths, and outdoor living spaces. Recommend without hesitation.
Owner response:I have enjoyed hosting the Fs, and am delighted that they returned this year. They are the kind of family any vacation owner longs to have: their family values are apparent ( and they enjoy family time; the children are very well mannered and respectful); we communicated well and clearly; they enjoyed being in a home, not just a rental property, and took excellent care of it. That makes it fun to be a property owner. My home attracts familes like the Fs, and we all benefits from its charm and uniqueness. I will look forward to hosting them and others like them in the future.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home - 2 couples with a 3 year old and 2 babies. There was lots of room for us all to spread out and our 3 year old LOVED the crow's nest! The house had all the amenities we needed, the kitchen was well stocked with spices and "cooking gadgets", very comfy beds and a relaxing atmosphere. It was nice to hear the sound of the waves from the house. The location was perfect for all of our daytrips (zoo, seaworld, etc) as well as our beach days - minutes to walk to a great sandy beach for sandcastle building or surf watching. Nina was so helpful in providing us with information on things to do, as well as a highchair and pack n plays for the babies so we could travel a little lighter. All in all, an excellent vacation in a great home. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend to families with or without children.

My family (2 kids, brother-in-law, and in-laws) recently stayed at this wonderful home. To say that it exceeded our expectations would be an understatement; the place was flat-out incredible. Location, comfort, feel, you want it, it has it. I would HIGHLY recommend this rental and my family fully intends to return!
