This waterfront home is directly across the road from your own beach and mooring. This means swimming, fishing, boating and more. The view from the house and deck are to die for! A panoramic bay view! The mooring, #PI034 is available to renters. A large deck surrounds the house on 3 sides looking directly over Narragansett Bay. Rockers and picnic table are on the deck. Our lot, in back of the house, leads up to a semi-private road. Deer are a common sight.
Prudence Island is a 7 mile long by 1 mile wide island in the middle of Narragansett Bay between Bristol and Newport. Ferry service runs frequently on a daily basis from Bristol. Reservations for cars fill up quickly. The island is very secluded and largely undeveloped. Families come here to get away from the everyday hustle of life. There are NO bars, restaurants, or shopping malls on the island. There are two small grocery stores that sell basic supplies and some produce. The island offers excellent opportunities for biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, clamming and shelling as well as other outdoor activities. It is an excellent environment for visitors of all ages. Bring your beach shoes!
The house is a two-level plan with the great room upstairs overlooking the deck and water in front. The sitting area has a queen size sofa bed. There is a dining area that seats 8. The kitchen, with a large pantry, microwave, range and new refrigerator is off the great room. Dishes, glassware and all cookware and provided. Bathroom and a small bedroom with a bunk set that sleeps three are off the great room. There is also a large, wonderful private outdoor shower that has hot and cold running water. The master bedroom (queen bed) and a small back room with a twin bed are downstairs. The house is surrounded by over 1200 square feet of deck area with rocking chairs for relaxing as well as a large picnic table overlooking the Bay and a gas grill for indoor or outdoor meals.

I was a long time resident of PI years ago so I know all the island has to offer for relaxation. This rental is truly suited for this purpose with the best location, views and accommodations. This was our first trip to stay at Prudence although we are familiar with the island. The house was great. Plenty of space for all of us - 2 adults and 4 children. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the livingroom very comfy. The breeze coming through the house was awesome. Loved the deck and loved the very spacious outdoor shower (never used the indoor shower). The view is beautiful. We brought our boat over and went fishing and tubing. We also brought our sunfish and went sailing. We went biking and swimming every day. Also did a bit of exploring by car. We loved the peace and quiet way of the island. We would recommend the property. We plan to come back.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.

We rented this cottage for family coming in from out of town. Of all of the cottages we have rented on Prudence over the past several years, this is one of the NICEST, cleanest most well-appointed cottages we have seen! The view doesn't get any better than this either--it's PERFECT in every way. We would highly recommend, although are tempted to try and keep it a secret so it's available to us again!! The owners were very easy to work with and the caretaker is friendly and available to renters.

My husband and I went the last week of May at a last minute planned vacation. It was just wonderful. We have rented in Prudence before and by far this is our favorite house. It is very cute!! The view is fantastic I am not sure it could be better. The deck is wonderful. I really loved the cathedral ceilings on the main floor. We had a wonderful time and hope to go again before the year is thru!! Sue and Paul

A true get-a-way from city traffic, noise and people. But the water traffic made splendid entertainment viewed from the deck rocking chairs. An occassional wave to and from vacationeers/or islanders was welcomed. Historical points on the island were awakenings to the stream of settlers -from Indians to the Browns of Rhode Island to US Navy. A great place to explore nature -swimming,fishing/clamming, boating/motor and sail and kayak, wildlife and plants, a museum and old missle silos. And a visual paradise.

This was a lovely cottage with a spectacular view, lighthouse off one side of the deck and the bridge to Newport off the other side. Everything you ar elooking for if you want to get away from it all. Lots of places on the island to explore and take short hikes(1-2 miles). Large deck with room to eat, lounge and take in the view. We really enjoyed our time!

We loved our Prudence Island vacation!! The house is great, with a well equipped kitchen and plenty of deck space for eating outdoors. The view from the house is amazing. The island is quiet and peaceful and everyone we bumped into was pleasant and very friendly. If you like the beach, hiking, boating, biking and peace and quiet, this place is for you!!

Good place to go to get away from traffic noise, & congestion & commercialism - your cares just drift away! Sitting on the rocking chairs on the deck with coffee in the morning with views to die for! All the people were friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back!
