Dos Gatos is a unique home, designed perfectly for larger families or several people who want to vacation together but also appreciate privacy. The home has three separate buildings, with large, private, swimming pool in the middle. The house is centrally located in the quiet K section, situated between the Nosara Yoga Institute and Playa Guiones. The house is tucked away on a hilltop and although convenient to restaurants, stores and the beach, it is very private. Cool breezes waft through the house every day because of the higher elevation. It is one of the few properties within walking distance of the beach that has enough elevation for ocean views and the breeze. It is a five minute walk to the beach. The property is frequented by monkeys and many birds. There are jungle views from every window and terrace as well as the ocean views from every building. The only views you don’t have are those of other houses! Because we don't have cats or dogs we have a profusion of wildlife that
is wonderful to view. (There are no cats at Dos Gatos!)
The home contains three buildings. Two buildings contain spacious bedroom/bathroom suites surrounded by patios, so you can sip your morning coffee watching the hummingbirds or monkeys before joining friends or family. The main building contains a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath. Each of the two bedroom suites contains a king-size bed, a large, private terrace area and a full bath. There are two additional twin beds for sleeping. The bedroom in the main house contains a queen-size bed. The large kitchen has granite countertops and is well designed for entertaining and cooking. There is a bar area for eating. as well as an outside dining area on the terrace. The house is fully equipped. We do have a phone and an IPOD music system, but no TV/VCR. There are ceiling fans in every room and because the ceilings are 25 ft high, every room is very cool, and breezy. The pool is 16 feet by 32 feet. The property has several retaining walls which are 6-10 ft high; it is not recommended for very young children.
This house is an exceptional and unique property available for rental. We are part time residents of Nosara and the house was built and
equipped with living in mind, not just as a rental property.
The home is in the quiet K section of Nosara within a five-minute walk of Playa Guiones. Nosara is known for its natural beauty and commitment to protecting its wildlife refuge. Nosara is also one of the best surfing spots in Central America. Sports fishing, river and ocean kayaking, and bird watching abound. 4WD vehicle recommended.

We did not choose to buy a vacation rental. We chose to build a dream house for ourselves and rent it when we are not in Costa Rica.

We loved Nosara when we came here in 1997. We rented a house for the first six years we came, usually for several months at a time. We built our home to include the wonderful aspects we had experienced in other homes here, while avoiding some of the downside aspects we had seen. The house was designed by us so is quite unique and conveys a sense of natural jungle living. Everyone who visits, rents or comes to see our home comments on it's elegance and spaciousness. We built the house for us to live in, not just to rent. We live in the house for several months per year, thus it is appointed in a manner that reflects a homeowner not a rental.

We just returned today from our trip to CR. We spent five days in Nosara with our three adult children and Los Gatos was the perfect jungle retreat for us. The house was beautifully designed and decorated with much detail and love. Most of the time at the house was spent in the pool or playing cards outside on the lovely patio. It was beautiful to fall asleep to the sounds of the night and to awaken to the sounds of exotic birds and beautiful butterflies outside our window. We loved the outdoor showers and felt safe and private. AnnMarie, the property manager, was very accessible and offered many suggestions on how to best enjoy our stay. I would definitely recommend this property and the village of Playa Guiones to anyone visiting Costa Rica. A wonderful combination of nature and modern conveniences.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My husband and I fell in love with Dos Gatos the minute we arrived in March 2010. Although we played tennis, kayaked, walked the beach, snorkeled, surfed and toured the surrounding area, we could have easily spent each day in quiet elegance, surrounded by the beauty and comfort of this hilltop retreat. The kitchen is nicely equipped and a joy to cook in. Local farmers' markets offer the most deliciously fresh fruits and veggies and we highly recommend breads and goodies from the traveling baker who toots his horn at the bottom of the driveway on Wednesdays. We ate every meal outdoors: a welcome reprieve from our frosty California winter and spring. Evening meals were best - candle light, soft blue glow of the infinity pool and a million stars in the sky. Our bedroom suite had a very comfortable king bed, with attached bathroom featuring a private tiled outdoor shower and patio. We could have used the more traditional indoor shower, but preferred the open air. There are several outdoor hammocks and comfortable cushioned recliners. Comfort was definitely high on the owners list when designing and furnishing this home. We really liked the infinity pool. It was wonderful to be able to dive in several times a day to cool off, relax tired muscles or just float and listen to the birds and howler monkeys. Tod and I give this rental a five star rating and can't wait to return in 2012. We highly recommend Dos Gatos.

This was the fourth winter in a row that I enjoyed the beauty and comfort of this unique getaway in the Costa Rican jungle. My favorite thing was to wake up early in the morning to the sounds of howler monkeys passing through the trees in search of their breakfast. Plenty of birds, too. Just a 10-minute walk to the beach, great surfing and beautiful sunsets. Comfortable cabanas, lush plantings and a pool to cool off in during the heat of the day. Mucho gusto!

What a great house to stay in! We brought ourselves and 3 adult children with spouses and the house couldn't have been more comfortable. Everyone felt that they had privacy with the private patios attached to each building, but we were all together. The outside space felt luxurious, dining with the birds and monkeys hanging from trees, sleeping with the doors wide open, every detail of the house felt that it was carefully thought out. We would only consider coming back to Nosara if we could rent Dos Gatos again.

Your house is stunning. The feeling of being outside in the jungle but yet in the house is present in all three buildings. It is a unique design and now being here we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else! Incredible privacy, beautiful sunsets, great pool, delightful breezes all day long.....We had a wonderful time here.
