A cozy cabin positioned just feet from banks of the Hiwassee River, this full-log, 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin has spectacular views of the Nantahala Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains. Professionally decorated in a rustic, lodge-style, this cabin has comfortable and stylish furnishings that ease you into that laid-back, country lifestyle.
Black Bear River Cabins is well off of any main road making it quite secluded, yet close to the town of Hayesville and area attractions, including Fire's Creek Recreational Area (1 mile) and Lake Chatuge (10 minutes). This area is popular year-round with sports enthusiasts with activities such as hiking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fly-fishing and golf. Yet, the location makes it an ideal place for those who want to get away from the stresses of everyday life and regenerate.
Black Bear River Cabin has an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, knotty pine walls, wood floors, and a stone fireplace. Large sliding glass doors face the covered porch, giving you a full view of the river. Antique stained glass windows (circa 1880) are a quaint addition that gently filter the afternoon light. The fully-equipped Gourmet kitchen has everything one might need for family dinners or entertaining guests. A large dining area has ample seating for family and friends. Carved log counter stools are perfect for eating or socializing in the kitchen area.
Relax and watch tv. at night. The cabin is stocked with family-friendly videos and dvds, as well as board games.
There are three spacious bedrooms - each with its own view of the river. Two of the bedrooms have King-sized beds, and one bedroom has built-in twin bunk beds. A very comfortable sofa bed (Serta mattress) is large enough to accomodate two (2) extra people. Each floor has a full bath that is easily accessible to each sleeping area (including one with an oversized, jetted tub). Towels and linens are provided.
Across the river, views include mountains and plenty of trees - perfect for fall leaf viewing. In the spring, enjoy wild, flowering Rhodendrons, and in the summer enjoy area wildflowers. Wildlife includes White-tail deer, Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks, Herons and the occasional river otter. Relax on the roomy, covered back porch and enjoy the sights from the hammock, or eat dinner at the table while you listen to the sounds of the river, which is just feet away. We’ve even provided a professional charcoal grill/smoker for grilling out. After dinner, gather round our fire pit and toast marshmallows and enjoy the outdoors.
The river is dam controlled, so it changes from peaceful and gently flowing with shallow waters that are perfect for those who like to swim, wade or fly-fish. The water is gradually released transforming the river to rushing rapids later in the afternoon - perfect for those who like to kayak, canoe or tube down the river.
Enjoy a hike or leisurely stroll down an old logging railroad road that goes through the woods up to Fire's Creek where you can see traces of history such as an old railroad trestle or an old cabin. There are no public areas anywhere near the cabin making it easier to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
There is plenty of parking for multiple vehicles, including those who wish to pull their own boat on a trip to one of the area lakes. The large, 1-acre lot allows plenty of room for children and/or pets to run and play. Sorry no Rv's or Campers allowed.
We are within 10-15 minutes of the John C. Campbell Folk School. Casual and Fine Dining are also close to the cabin. There are plenty of shops to chose from, as well. |
