(Monthly rentals or longer preferred.) This is a modern beach-house on the tip of a thin peninsula of land only 50 yards wide, facing a mangrove preserve – with NO houses in sight. The house has soaring cathedral ceilings and views of Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve from every window. 180 degree views thru huge windows in Living Room/Kitchen. Tons of photos of the Beach House on our web site (Click link below.)
It is a bird watchers paradise with a private white sand beach for swimming, fishing, and daily viewing of the dolphins and manatees that pass by the private beach on their way into the bay. Truly unique experience. A wonderful place to bring the family together. BIG kitchen and living room with lots of huge comfy couches.

Hi Clark I wanted to take a moment to thank you for letting me rent the Sanibel home again this year. Thinking back, it is the 5th time I have rented it in the last ten years. Another spectacular vacation! The weather was perfect and the wildlife put on a show. There were six manatees who stayed with us the whole time. Two came right out of the water and rubbed their bellies on the sand bar and stayed for a long time. There was a baby about 70-80 lbs with its mother .The dolphins and hundreds of horseshoe crabs were a great show too. I look forward to the time when I can ask you for the pleasure of another stay in your spectacular home. Until then ……. Thank you !!!! Best regard Alan NewsonDid you find this review helpful? As an old Florida boy, I've been all over this state and seen many of its magical, quiet spots over the years. You've got yourself one "Magical Quiet Spot" here friend. I can't thank you enough for sharing it with me and my boys. We spent quite a few beautiful sunsets (and many a midnight after the boys were sleeping) fishing out back. There are so many fish back there in Tarboon Bay! I've been trying to nail one of those big Snooks that are swimming back and forth out there, we caught several catfish that put up a great fight. There's a ton of wildlife around here too. I saw a huge iguana when I was driving to the store for snacks. There're also a whole bunch of gopher tortoises walking around here. They're actually quite fast when they are startled, but don't seem to mind being approached if you go slowly. We've gotten so much nature photography practice here. You always have to keep your camera ready walking around the area. It's a real treat to get so close to so many different kinds of creatures. My mother also enjoyed the amazing kitchen you've got here. Everything a chef could ask for. Although we DID try to catch enough fish for a home-caught meal, we ended up cooking some fantastic meals with fresh fish purchased from the stores nearby. The best part about this trip was the sense of solitude you feel out here. It's really not that far from civilazation, but it feels like we have been on one of the far corners of the Earth at your house. I am so relaxed, I can't even tell you. Thanks for the memories Clark, We've enjoyed it thoroughly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I'm speechless. There are not enough words to describe my experience at your house. It was like living in paradise. The views are breathtaking, the pool was relaxing, the beach was fun. It was so peaceful here, too bad this good time has come to an end! Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved our stay on Woodring Road. There were three of us in residence and many guests in various configurations over three glorious months. We loved the setting which really has to be seen to be believed. The house is surrounded by water and nearly surrounded by the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. There are water views from every room and window and, because of the sanctuary, almost no house lights at night. The beach is an elegant curve that feels like part of the sanctuary. We saw endless birds—in flight, diving for fish, standing motionless on the beach or on pilings and nests—as well as manatee and dolphins. The stars at night are glorious. The effect is peaceful and serene, very tropical, and very special family Trip to Sanibel Island We loved the house. It is filled with light and space, comfort and graciousness. In prior trips to Sanibel, we ate out a lot. Here, we wanted to stay home and enjoy the house and sunset views. Bedrooms are spaced so as to allow for privacy and quiet and porches make things naturally flow towards the outdoors. We put guests in the downstairs apartment and they loved the sense of space and freedom. During one week with children and grandchildren as guests, we put them on the main floor and the single among us moved downstairs. It worked well that way too. It was fun to hear the sounds of dolphins, pelicans and manatee from close by. It was great to be able to make a cup of coffee and have the use of a refrigerator and TV in the apartment. We loved the resort-style amenities: swimming off the beach or in the pool, lounging in beach chairs or the hot tub, kayaking in Tarpon Bay, fishing off the dock, bicycling down Woodring Road and beyond. One guest spent most days on his stomach on the beach photographing birds and loved it. There is so much to do at the house that we found ourselves staying home days as well as nights, despite the fact that there are plenty of interesting things to do on Sanibel and Captiva islands. We did tear ourselves away to walk on Sanibel beach every day, only a five minute drive away. We are grateful to Clark Halstead for letting us enjoy this very special place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Clark, I would like to thank you once again for opening up your vacation home to us. We had the most wonderful time there. Waking up every morning to the birds singing and the dolphins playing was priceless. We were able to use the kayaks to go exploring and soak up nature all around us. We biked on the island and took walks every morning. The manatees made their presence known when we walked to the point of the sand. Absolutely breath taking!! The bottle of champagne you left us was enjoyed on a Saturday morning in mimosas with my girlfriends who made their way down to visit. We laughed and talked, soaked up the sun, swam in the pool and made memories to last a lifetime. You really do have a piece of paradise there!! I would love to rent again next January. Thanks so much for everything!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are so happy to be back at your beautiful home. As we approached the causeway, I became very excited. My children said they had never seen me so excited about anything! Our girls were out today trying to find another Rose Petal Tellin on your beach. The manatee came by and we saw a mother and baby. Racoons are running about along Woodring Road and the Yellow Crowned Night Herons are staking their spots along the road, as well. My youngest daughter named one of these herons, "Tim," during our last visit. She was so young last year that she thought that every Yellow Crowned Night Heron she saw was "Tim." She's figured it out now...so there is now Tim, Mac, Sam and Gus eating crabs along Woodring Road. Well, we only have a few more days here in your lovely home, and I have to tell you, we're just as smitten as last year. Just this morning we saw dolphin at the point, watched an osprey catch and devour a fish, and saw a pelican make a dramatic dive into the water. Every time we walk into the great room, we find ourselves saying "Wow, just look at that view!" Over, and over, and over again. And it is always different, with golden sunsets (our favorite time of the day), to close encounters with wildlife (being a few feet from the manatee as they play on the point), to fisherman-watching, the "action" from the panoramic views is awesome.Did you find this review helpful?
