Staying at the Rock Cut Cabin was the way to go for my daughter's graduation from NMU. Even the construction in front of the cabin on Hwy 41 didn't interfere and the rainy UP weather didn't dampen our spirits either. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the cabin was very clean and comfortable - a great place to host a little celebration. We made use of the fire pit in the evening and took advantage of hiking the trail that winds to the top of the Rock Cut, but beware of ticks! :o) I would definitely recommend this place over staying in the local hotels. Next time I'm in Marquette (hopefully sooner rather than later) I'll reserve the Rock Cut Cabin.

The Rock Cut Cabin

This is a great place to stay with a great view of Lake Superior and a great location. It is located just off of US 41 close to Marquette. It is set back from the road so you feel that you have some privacy. It is clean and really cute. My husband and I stayed there Easter weekend to visit with our son who attends NMU. We used the kitchen to cook Easter Dinner and it had everything we needed. The bedroom we used had a very comfortable bed. We didn't use the second bedroom with a bunk bed but it could sleep 2 below and 1 on top. The fireplace was beautiful, but we didn't get a chance to use it The cabin was bright and cheerful with big windows for the views. We would definitely go back to the Rock Cut Cabin.

Alabama Travelers

We had ventured from 'mild' Alabama to the UP and were guests from 29 Jan to 10 Feb. Our experience was wonderful... the cottage was quaint and absolutely charming. The view of Lake Superior, as seen from the living room, was incredible. The lake, as well as the trails behind the cottage, made for brilliant walking trips.

Returning to Marquette

We were there for 6 days Great location- Every morning and late afternoon began with a cardio workout walking the two track trail up to the top of the mountain,The views are georgous! The trail is located next to the rock cut house. We also enjoyed the fire pit the weather allowed for a few bonfires :) The house was clean and accommodating for us 2 adults and 2 children

We greatly enjoyed our time at the cottage, the walk cross the road to the beach/lake superior and the bike/walking trails was great!! Several times we rode bike into Marquette to shop, eat, geocache, go the the other beaches. It was nice to return to a place we felt very comfy in with all the amenities we needed. Looking forward to returning next year! Thanks Tom!

Tom and Lauri, Wow...this cabin made my family's visit. It was perfect for us. From the minute we entered it felt totally comfortable and had that feel of familiarity. My family loved watching the sun rise and set from the deck, we enjoyed the beach across the road and built a fire in the fire pit. It was perfect for the frisbee tournament and the weekend. Perfect Little Cabin

Me and my biking crew from Chicago stayed here for 3 nights on May 7th to May10th and we could not have asked for anything better. The place was super clean, and well maintained. Even though the weather was colder than normal we still made use of the grill and took in the wonderful lake view. The cabin is off a busy road but you can't even tell when you are there. Lauri was very helpful in answering any questions I had and made the entire experience very pleasant. I would stay here again and for sure recommend this place to anyone looking for a small, comfortable place to rest your feet after a long day on the hiking or biking trail.

Winter 2010

Must have hit at an off time. We were there in February and the owners were exceptionally nice, but the place was not very clean. One bed was comfortable and the other made for a miserable night's sleep. Will not stay again, nor will we recommend. Which is too bad because the location is ideal.

Fantastic rental cabin! It was spotless, easy access to downtown Marquette, secluded, pet friendly, great view of Lake Superior! It was the perfect escape from City life for a great vacation. Perfect for those who love to hike, swim, or just relax be the fire!

This was just the greatest place! I wasn't sure what to expect, as the rates were so reasonable. But it was cozy and comfortable with everything you could want, provided. And it was clean! When we opened the door and went in, it smelled good - not perfumed or stale, just good. The owners were flexible and nice and fair. We had a great time there and loved the place - it was everything it was advertised to be.

I have stayed at the Rock Cut Cabin twice in the past year. I cannot say anything negative about it. It is a cozy cabin isolated enough for privacy, but close enough to Marquette for dining and spending a pleasant evening on Presque Isle. I am a hiker and the cabin is centrally located to several trails located on both the eastern and wetern part of the U.P. The cabin is very comfortable and the fireplace warms the enitre interior. As long as I visit Marquette, I will never stay anywhere else. This is by far one of the best places I have stayed throughout my travels.

This is a charming cabin! It is directly across from Lake Superior - imagine waking up and looking out the window to a spectacular clear lake view. It is close to Marquette, nothing is more than a few minutes away. Everything we needed was there. The cabin is clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for us to relax and unwind. The owners are friendly and it was a pleasure to do business with them. We are already making plans to go back next year!

The Rock Cut Cabin was a blast. Some friends and I have been renting the Rock Cut for the past three years and we love it. It is right between two mountains so it is completely secluded. It is just far enough out of town to be alone, and close enought to go shopping or check out Marquette. The view on Lake Superior is beautiful, and you can't beat the price! This is a great place!
