Our 160-acre Sweetwater Ranch is located in the scenic Applegate Valley. The cottage is up from our main house, completely private, surrounded by BLM and National Forest. As a private retreat, it has spectacular views, hot tub, seasonal organic garden and orchards. The cottage has a large eat-in kitchen perfect for family gatherings or for a quiet romantic dinner. We gift our guests with a dozen fresh eggs from our ranch chickens as well as stocking organic coffee and tea. Pristine hiking and riding trails link us to the National Forest. Nearby fishing, river rafting, wonderful local wineries and pleasant local restaurants can make your visit a memorable one. The historic town of Jacksonville hosts the seasonal Britt Music Festival. The next town over is the famous Ashland, Oregon, home of the Shakespeare Festival. Visit, take in a play and concert, or just have a nice long set on the porch, bird watching and enjoying the peace and quiet. We are pet friendly to well-behaved pets.
As active members of the Thompson Creek Rd community, we enjoy the CSA (community sustainable agriculture) organic farms on our road. Barking Moon Farms is less than a mile from the ranch; Blue Fox Farm is also located on our road. We heartily support the organic farming methods and practice them in the garden and orchard surrounding the cottage and other farm areas. If you want to enjoy a sample of this lifestyle this is the place to do it.
Our ranch family includes our two quarter horses, Dunny and Breeze. They very much enjoy a pat and a carrot from guests. Our dogs, Juno, Zeus and Betty help keep an eye on things and are always ready to be good hiking companions.
Sweetwater Cottage is the perfect place to let the world drop from your mind and refocus on the cycle of nature’s own ways. It is a great place to meet with friends and family or as a romantic getaway. Thanksgiving and Christmas can become a memorable holiday experience here at the farm; the cottage is very comfortable and has everything needed. May is the most beautiful of all months---the cottage is surrounded by blue and yellow iris and many other kinds of blooming plants. The fall months of September, October and November sport the fabulous autumnal colors. We usually experience mild winters here starting near the end of November----we are at around 2000 feet so we get some snow, which usually melts off during the day. |
