Vacation Home on the Beautiful Smith River - North Coast, Ca
Year Purchased: 1990
Why the Owner Chose Gasquet
This is not like a lot of California. We have the ocean, the giant redwoods, the cleanest and clearest river in the U.S., the Smith of course. Our county of Del Norte has only 25,000 people and no polution.
Owner's Map of Gasquet
Thats me on the left. I have been fishing the Smith river since 1980 and two buddies and I purchased one acre of land on the Smith in 1989. In 1990 we purchased a new double wide modular unit and placed on this acre. I grew up in the Bay Area and worked 30 years for AT&T. My wife and I met in high school and have been married for 50 years. I took early retirement in 1991 and moved to Crescent City in 1992. My four kids are grown and we now have eight grand kids. Upon moving here I got into the fishing business, owning a tackle store in Brookings, Or. In 1998 I started guiding for Salmon and Steeelhead on the local rivers, mostly the Smith. Except for my guiding I am now retired from all other ventures. During the off season we garden, travel with our 32Ft trailer, fish and visit kids/grand kids.

Jerry, Thank you for sharing this special location. Although not far from our home near the Rogue River, it is far enough to relax & get away from daily obligations. The Smith has a different smell, taste & dynamic ... We love it also ... We were able to spend some time at a couple of favorite ole swimming holes and enjoy warm evenings & morning walks thru quiet peaceful neighborhoods. Thank you for being dog-friendly. We'll be back. Mark, Laurel & Bubs, Gold Beach, Or.

Jerry, Thank you again for letting us stay in your home. We love having coffee on the deck in the mornings, listening to the river and the breeze through the trees. Thank you for everything. We hope we can stay again. Can't think of a single thing needed that isn't already here. We are hoping we can come 4th of July next year for 4 days. Thanks again, Teri, Gene & family

Thanks for a great stay. Beautiful location and very comfortable accommodations. Our little girl loved playing on the deck. We used to stay at the Wagon Wheel until they closed 10 years ago and have been looking for a good base for summer fishing operations ever since. We hope to come again next year. Yours truly, Grace, Chris and Chloe
