Fantastic ThanksgivingGuest comment entered by owner
What a fantastic Thanksgiving! We will never forget spending this special holiday here at your cabin and river. Your cabin was neat as a pin. Our lab Ranger wore my husband out throwing the chuck it into the river, ha ha. This was our girls first trip to the redwoods and it was glorious, perfect weather! Thank you so much for sharing your homey lodge with us! Hope you get some rain soon!

We Enjoyed Our Week Here
We enjoyed our week here and we saw a lot of beautiful country. The river was low, would like to see it when it's higher. You really have the best location for your house. It's so quiet here, no traffic, no planes, just really nice. Will tell everyone about our trip. Thank you so much.

Heaven in the Woods right on the sparkling River
Heaven in the Woods right on the sparkling River
Location, location, location! Jerry found a piece of heaven. House is homey, clean, and stocked with everything you need. Enjoy the HUGE deck with the every changing landscape. Grill, relax, fish, or watch the game. This is the place. My dogs loved it too. (I should have known Jerry was a great guy...he also has a Golden Retriever) : ) (Bring your own blow dryer)

Five Glorious NightsGuest comment entered by owner
Five Glorious Nights
My husband, our dog and I spent 5 glorious nights at BMH Lodge on the Smith River and we are already planning our retirement in that area. The home was super comfortable with an amazing view of the Smith River, a full kitchen, lots of TV's, laundry room, etc. Not fancy, but very very nice.

Rest, Relaxation and SerenityGuest comment entered by owner
Rest, Relaxation and Serenity
Thank you so much for sharing your lodge. I have experienced here exactly what I had hoped for, rest, relaxation and serenity. Those are just three of course. Nearly every morning or evening three beautiful wood ducks swam in perfect view from the deck. They jetted across the water and frolicked together without a care in the world. I have experienced such happiness here in so many ways. This is a special place of which I will always remember fondly. I feel "at home" here as I'm sure many others before and after me have & will. Nature's scenery is priceless, including the fresh air, the river and wild life sounds, etc.. I would love to return to this haven and will soon.

Enjoyed The WildlifeGuest comment entered by owner
Enjoyed The Wildlife
Very cozy & nice for a family retreat. Particularly enjoyed the wildlife - humming birds, king fishers, otter, heron, rainbow trout & mmm blackberries! This reminds me of my parents cottage on a lake in Wisconsin. Thanks for the trust you showed us.

The view was amazing! We saw lots of cute duckling families and an otter! Very cool! The river is peaceful to hear and we were always happy to get back to the cozy cabin at the end of a day exploring the redwoods.

Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: Thats me on the left. I have been fishing the Smith river since 1980 and two buddies and I purchased one acre of land on the Smith in 1989. In 1990 we purchased a new double wide modular unit and placed on this acre. I grew up in the Bay Area and worked 30 years for AT&T. My wife and I met in high school and have been married for 53 years. I took early retirement in 1991 and moved to Crescent City in 1992. My four kids are grown and we now have eight grand kids. Upon moving here I got into the fishing business, owning a tackle store in Brookings, Or. In 1998 I started guiding for Salmon and Steeelhead on the local rivers, mostly the Smith. Now I am mostly retired except for managing and booking this vacation rental. During the off season we garden, travel with our 32Ft trailer, fish and visit kids/grand kids.
Why the Owner Chose Gasquet:
This is not like a lot of California. We have the ocean, the giant redwoods, the cleanest and clearest river in the U.S., the Smith of course. Our county of Del Norte has only 25,000 people and no polution.
