Our family stayed in this beautiful home to get away from sunny south Florida and have an old fashion Christmas in the mountains. Every detail of the home was beautiful. It truly has a warm and cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in the door. The decorations were completely fitting for the location and the view was one we couldn't get enough of. We especially loved all the mounted animals. That was a really neat touch to the home. It was so nice to have a room that was equipped for children having two sets of bunk beds with trundle beds below and plenty of space for them to stetch and play. We had hoped to have a "white Christmas" but opposite from the last few years, this wound up being a very warm Christmas. Because the property was so beautiful, in the end we were grateful the weather was warm enough for us to enjoy the outdoors as much as we did. The kids played in the creek, tried fishing in the river but had better success with skipping rocks which was nearly just as much fun, and we all enjoyed the hot tub too. We walked to Virginia too which the kids thought was really neat. We really enjoyed the nearby Crosscreek farm. The owner was so welcoming to us and we had a great time playing with her piglets. We had fun decorating our Christmas tree with strung cranberries, popcorn and marshmallows too while gathered around a warm fire. Christmas day was one we will never forget. We were in the perfect location surrounded by those we love (our 4 children, our parents and sister and brother in law). We didn't have one single complaint about our visit at a Lil' Piece of Heaven. It was the perfect getaway we were dreaming of and we look forward to visiting again.

We stayed here for our family thanksgiving 11/22 thru 11/25/2012, 6 adults and 5 grandchildren very comfortably. There was plenty of area for the kids to play. We used both fireplaces inside and out on the cold evenings, everything was perfect. We will surely return again. I would highly recommend Lil Piece of Heaven to anyone.

Family Getaway!

Wow, we had a great time at Lil' piece of heaven. We spent time daily at the creek, river, hot tub and deck. There was always something to do. We spent nearly every night cooking on the outside deck BBQ and sitting by the fire. We also spent time tubing the new river and rafting nearby in Tennessee. Tried fishing to no avail. Everything was provided except the groceries. We saw deer on the property nearly every morning and evening. There were nice daily walk/hikes to Virginia, which is a couple hundred yards up the road. Internet is available but our cell phones didn't work. Didnt matter - we were there to unwind. It is a very nice cabin and we slept comfortably (6 people). The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. We also spent time in Boone, Nc and driving the Blue Ridge parkway. The best part of the trip was the peace and quiet of the property and hearing the water run in the creek while drinking morning coffee. This is the place to stay if you are considering anywhere in the area.

We stayed at this home 7/16-7/23 and I must say the house was very comfortable. When we arrived, the hot tub wasn't working, but we fixed that. The propane tank on the grill was empty, so that was an unfortunate surprise when we were ready to make our dinner. We had the tank filled but found ourselves eating out more than we had expected due to the distance of activities from the home. The house was great, but the location was not for us. We were on a lake last year in the mountains and loved it. Thought this would be the same experience, but being on a river is completely different. Fishing was nearly impossible unless you stood in the water. The house next door is under construction and that noise was constant during our stay. The farm down the road was the best ever. We milked the cows and bought eggs and sausage several times from there. I can personally say we would not return just because of the location. Everything was a big deal to get to. Boone was over an hour away and we like peace and quiet and serenity, but missed the mountain view and the activities closer by.

Perfect cabin for all ages!

Our families traveled from Chicago, Dallas, and Hendersonville, NC, to gather at Lil' Piece of Heaven for a short, 5 day/4 night reunion. There were 5 adults and 5 children (ages 5-9) in our group. Everyone had a GREAT time! The creek and river were perfect for the kids to play in. It's such a secluded area that they were safe running around the property and playing in the water by themselves. They never tired of playing in the creek - exploring it up and down. The river is great to wade in and catch crayfish, minnows, and tadpoles. The kids did this with just paper cups! It's also a great place to fish, too! We didn't explore much of the surrounding areas because we were content to hang out at the cabin, but we did drive a short distance to Gem Valley to do some gem "mining." The kids had a blast! The cabin was perfect for our families - especially the room that the kids shared. There were 2 bunk beds with trundle beds under each for a total of 6 sleeping areas. The kids loved having their own room to hang out in, sleep in, and on some occasions, hold "meetings" in. There's also a TV and VCR in there with lots of kids movies, which, quite frankly, they didn't really utilize much since they spent most of their time outside. The cabin was beautifully decorated and furnished. My husband and I had the upstairs suite, and the bed was sooo comfty! It got stuffy and hot in the afternoons, but if you keep the fan and a/c on, it'll eventually cool down enough by bedtime. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. The only thing we missed having were mixing bowls. We used the outdoor fireplace every night - loved it! It was the perfect way to end the day. Something to prepare for ahead of time: no soaps (except dishwashing soap) and laundry detergent were provided. Also, only 1 extra roll of toilet paper per bathroom was provided (along with just 1 extra roll of paper towels). There are grocery and dollar stores in town, so we made a quick trip to stock up - no biggie. Armando made the whole rental process so easy and hassle-free, and while we were there, he promptly responded to any questions we had. We HIGHLY recommend this cabin! It's as beautiful and maybe even more so than what the pictures portray. It's a great place for families of all ages, and we all agreed that the whole property was aptly named. It truly did feel like we were in a Lil' Piece of Heaven!

We enjoyed our 4 night stay here (June 16-20,2011) at Lil' piece of Heaven so much. The pictures/description on the website accurately depicted the setting. Our family included 4 grandchildren(ages 14-5) and my 86 yr.old mother. All of us equally enjoyed our experience. The home was comfortable and well-equipped (though remember to bring your own kitchen seasonings, bathroom soap,etc.). We did our grocery shopping in downtown Sparta (at Lowes) before he arrived. We brought our own outdoor activities(croquet,bocce ball,fishing gear) to play in the spacious yard, creek and river. The only trip we took away from the cabin was to the Tweetsy Railroad adventure park outside of Blowing Rock, a little over an hour's drive away. We will certainly plan to make a return visit in the future. We weren't ready to leave our wonderful adventure together, but as the plaque near the outside door reminds us: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

The property is appropriately named. The beautiful grounds alone would bring us back. The cabin itself was a delight as well in every respect, comfort, beauty, function, warmth and charm. The view, privacy without the feeling of isolation accompanied by areas to walk and a short drive to Sparta (But we really only went into town once. . . why leave 'heaven'? The only regret was when our time came to an end. Hopefully next time we well be able to stay longer. A wonderful experience!!!

We stayed at Lil Piece of Heaven Thanksgiving week 2010 and have all agreed that the cabin and grounds were the most beautiful we have stayed in to date. There were six of us, living very comfortably for the week in this warmly decorated home. The Creek and River were so picturesque; we loved walking down and around them. We went into Town a few times and even though it was the most maddening week of the year, everyone was very polite and respectful. I would highly recommend Lil Piece of Heaven to anyone, whether you would like to shop and tour or just simply relax and unwind, this place is a perfect fit!

THIS IS A MUST !! If you are looking for a warm, inviting, truly comfortable place to stay, COME HERE. If you want to enjoy every minute of your stay, COME HERE. "A Little Piece Of Heaven" Yes it is! Everything is perfect. I believe that you can tell how much a person cares about something when you look at the smaller details. Armando and Toni have covered them all. If you care, COME HERE. This house and surroundings are absolutely amazing. Five adults and one child, eight years old, he said it was the best time he every had. He was constantly fishing, playing in the creek, climbing on the bridge, skipping rocks at the river and running around the yard. Smores in the out side fire place, what a blast. We hated to leave. But home we went. Alas! We left behind a very special friend called "Horsey" (he was playing hide and seek). Not to worry... Armando & Toni mailed him home to my nephew safely and saved the day. Thank you both for sharing so much with so many. I am planning my next visit for the summer. I love this place. You will too.

We stayed recently over the labor day weekend with two families and truly had an excellent time. With 4 kids, there is so much to do with the creek next to the house, the river right at the end of the driveway, the large yard and so on. Not to mention the hot tub and great outdoor fireplace on the deck. While we spent almost the entire time outside with the fireplace, hot tub and rocking chairs, the inside of the house was awesome. Very nicely decorated, comfortable and about any amenity you could want. Felt very at home and we really appreciated the call the first evening from the owners to make sure everything was ok. We would definitely recommend staying here and I'm sure we will return.

My family of eight spent our Fourth of July a this wonderful house. It had plenty of room in the house and a lot of space for us on the porches. The yard was beautiful with its views of the creek and river. No one in my family wanted to leave. We will definitely go back next year.

The Perfect Place !!!

We just recently spent an entire week at this beautiful cabin as a celebration of my daughter's graduation from Pharmacy School, (VCU). There were 11 of us family members and we had more than ample room for all. The cabin itself is absolutely amazing, both inside and out. And the landscaping was gorgeous, with a lot of grassy areas for the grandson to run and play in. He also spent his share of time in the creek/waterfall right next to the cabin. There was easy access to the river, (which was practically right outside the front door). The boys did a lot of fishing, the girls toured a lot of wineries, (and did their share of tastings too). Took the grandson to Tweetsie Railroad one day, and took my Mom and Aunt to Mt. Airy one day. There are lots of things to do & see within 1 hour of the cabin, yet its off the beaten path and quite secluded. Once again - it was "THE PERFECT PLACE" !!! Normally, when I return to an area for a visit, I try out a new place. But the next time I head to this area for some R & R, I'm checking the availability of ...... "A Little Peice of Heaven" first !!!

5 couples stayed very comfortably in this cottage, but we used every available space! We ended the year and began the new one, It was so cold on January 2nd that ice floats were coming down the river and the water fall on the creek in the yard was frozen. It was a winter wonderland. I hope to take my grandchildren up this summer.

What a wonderful weekend we had at Lil' Piece of Heaven. Our children and grandchildren joined us for the weekend. Even though it was chilly the kids still played in the creek - what fun they had. We LOVED the fireplace on the deck and the hot deck also. To sit in the hot tub and have a fire in the fireplace was a Lil' Piece of Heaven!! The owners were wonderful to work with - we had a sickness and could not go on our scheduled weekend. The owners worked with us and gave us the opportunity to reschedule. The only recommendation we have is to carry some toilet paper and paper towels. About 15 minutes into Sparta and the cabin was not stocked with these items. Highly recommend!!!

My family of 4 children, spouses & grandchildren spent a wonderful week enjoying this mountain retreat the end of Oct. 09. It was every- thing they said it was & more. The fireplaces & hot-tub were enjoyed every day & the weather cooperated 100%. Nana & Grandaddy especially enjoyed relaxing in the swing overlooking the stream and lovely country-side. The younger folks were rock-climbing, fishing, kayaking and exploring the mountains. Most evenings we went into town & had dinner with a lot of the locals. The food was great & I especially enjoyed the "fried pies" at Brown's Family Restaurant. We bought fresh eggs & sausage from the farm just before you reach Lil' Piece of Heaven & we found everyone in town to be very gracious & helpful. Of course we stopped in @ the Chamber in Sparta & picked up all kinds of info. Our youngest daughter & her husband had graduated from App. State & they spent a day there reminiscing & showing their children around. We definitely will recommend this particular spot to anyone wishing to spend time in God's country. (I'm originally from NC but the Piedmont Section of the state.) We hope to return again in the near future and maybe in the spring.

This was one of our best family vacations ever. The home enabled us to escape the distractions and stresses of the big city. We enjoyed simple family activities. Although there were plenty of vineyards, restaurants,surrounding towns etc. to visit on daily excursions, the kids were content to fish every day at the River with their dad and enjoy s'mores by the campfire at night. Great family memories made. Lil' of Piece of Heaven lived up to its name! The property was breathtaking. The home was fully equiped, comfortable and extremely charming. Our family loved spending two weeks at this comfortable, beautiful cabin. It was perfect. We can't decide what our favorite part was - floating down the river, the waterfalls and creek right on the property, the deer every morning, campfires by the river, and just relaxing in the cabin - it was all wonderful! The owners are very thoughtful and caring - this rental felt like our own home!

My husband and I were lucky enought to spend the first week of May 2009 in this amazingly beautiful home. All the flowers were blooming, the weather was perfect, and the fishing on the New River in front of the home was fantastic! The outdoor fireplace was wonderful to light and watch while lounging in the hot tub. The entire vacation experience was wonderfully relaxing. We can't wait to go back. My family and I had previously scheduled a different cabin in the same area. That cabin had some pipes burst the weekend prior to our stay and they had to cancel on us. We had been planning our trip for some time, so we quickly reverted to the second cabin in our list "Lil Piece of Heaven'. The owners were able to quickly accommodate us and we were at the cabin within less than a week. Our stay there was marvelous! While we didn't get any snow, we did have plenty of bonding time with the family. We love to cook. There were plenty of pots and pans there including a slow cooker, blender, mixer, etc. Nobody went hungry (or thirsty), that's for sure...The hot tub was a nice touch as well. The only suggestion I could think of is that it would be nice for there to be a binder of some sort (That remains at the home) with instructions on how to use the hot tub and other special information the guests may want to know. Other than that...Our stay was wonderful! Thank you!

We had a wonderful visit to your home in Sparta. Thank you for the recommendations on restaurants, etc. We had s'mores by the campfire, used the hot tub, went to Blowing Rock, ate at Shelton Winery & best of all enjoyed your front porch rockers just talking, looking at the beautiful scenery & listening to the water. What a wonderful vacation. I promised my grandkids snow and we had so much snow it looked like a fairy tale scene. Your home is beautiful with everything needed for a clean, comfortable stay. Just to look out at the beautiful, peaceful surroundings was worth the 10 hour trip. We were blessed to find the perfect home for our family vacation. We hated to leave. We have been vacationing in the North Carolina Mountains with family for over 12 years. This cabin was by far the nicest we have ever stayed in. The decorating and special touches everywhere (even carved animals in the trees outside) were outstanding. Sitting on the comfortable rockers on the porch watching the hummingbirds and listening to the waterfall was everything we imagined and more. We loved the nearby hikes and West Jefferson was the cutest town ever. We canoed on the river and relaxed in the hot tub. Wonderful, wonderful place to vacation.

Lil Piece of Heaven is a great retreat, just a few minutes from the city of Sparta (with 2 grocery stores and more) and less than 1.5 hours from Winston-Salem. We visited with our kids and one set of grandparents, with enough room for all. The sounds of the waterfall on the outside porch were very relaxing as was the view of the river. We especially enjoyed walking to Virginia, roasting marshmellows at the fire pit on the riverfront, canoeing the New (take Nile Road for a few miles and then turn right to get to a local outfitter), and relaxing in the outdoor hot tub.

We had a wonderful weekend at Lil' Piece of Heaven. The house is amazing! Very modern and clean and we loved the way it was decorated. We had a power outage and called the owners who were very responsive and the power company was there in less than an hour. The views from the house are amazing! We hated to leave and would highly recommend staying here.

Can't say enough about Lil Piece of Heaven. My family and I enjoyed three wonderful days in a very clean, beautifully decorated home. The outdoor hot tub was a special treat for the children as well as the large yard for running around and rolling in the leaves. We weren't able to enjoy the fire pit near the river as the weather did not cooperate, however, we were able to enjoy a warm fire inside and even roasted a few marshmallows in the fireplace. Took a ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway into Blowing Rock and enjoyed the quaint shops and a home cooked lunch at the Knights on Main - small place but the food was worth the wait. There was a great park for the kids to play at too. Looking forward to a return trip. Thanks so much Armando and Toni!

What a special and cozy luxury cabin this is! If you like nature, family, and / or romance this is the place to be! We stayed for four weeks during the summer 2006 and were sad when we had to leave. The huge garden with the beautiful creek, rustic swing and wooden chairs was just perfect to enjoy some time for reading in the shade or playing frisbee. In the front of the cabin you could go fishing or swimming in the fantastic New River, that was to our surprise as big as a lake. We loved to rent canoes or kayaks at the nearby(5 minutes) rental place in Virginia. The scenery is just wonderful. We loved to hang out on the big porch to take a cocktail before dinner. Dinner was special, too, because the stone grill was perfect to cook on outside. Seldom you will find a nicer home, because the decoration, china, linens etc. were chosen with care. That's why it was no problem to celebrate my husband's birthday at this lovely and spacious house. And as so often, also on this evening celebration two deer would happen to be there just about ten feet from the windows of the dining room. Every room, bedrooms, dining room, living room with the beautiful stone fire place, and the kitchen alike was just cozy, clean and tastefully decorated by the owners, so we felt right at home. We had a phenomonal vacation and hope to go back, maybe next time in the winter. :) Monika Bernard

My husband and I found the perfect place for our honeymoon night when we learned of Lil’ Piece of Heaven. It was absolutely the best place imaginable to unwind after a very special occasion. We can’t think of any place more perfect! The atmosphere was gorgeous with the New River and a stream running just swiftly enough to hear from the cabin. We enjoyed a relaxing evening in the hot tub glaring at the stars and listening to the current of the water and waterfall. The interior of the cabin was just as inviting and cozy as the outside. It was beautifully decorated and made us feel right at home instantly. What a special and beautiful place nestled in the mountains. My husband and I will always remember it with fond memories. We are looking forward to visiting again soon!

Our visit to Lil' Piece of Heaven, was just as the name would suggest. The cabin was wonderful - it had the perfect amount of room, was wonderfully decorated with unique and interesting artifacts, and was VERY well maintained. Our favorite things to do were fishing in the river, hanging out on the porch, having a camp fire complete with smores and watching the kids run around everywhere on the property. The town of Sparta is convenient and the drive was an easy 2+ hours from Charlotte. We truly appreciated the ease with which everything worked with the booking as well. Thanks so much - Regards!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The kids really enjoyed being near the river and the natural setting. Deer came onto the property every dusk and dawn. We fished just about every day. Campfires at night. The hot tub was a bonus. There was nothing like sitting on the front porch rocking chairs and listening to the creek and waterfalls in front of the house. I highly recommend staying here.

We had a great stay at your beautiful cabin! It was a wonderful family reunion with relatives from as far as Phoenix AZ. Our kids loved playing in the waterfall and hiking in the woods, we even tried fishing in the river! Our children were able to see snow for the first time!Your home was spacious and nicely decorated...by far the nicest rental we have stayed at!We are hoping for a return visit in the near future! We wanted a change of scenery and some time to relax; instead we discovered a wonderfully decorated cabin in a most beautiful setting. The River (and fishing) is at your doorstep, a noisy little creek runs right along the side of the house, hiking and canoeing is practically around the corner and the quaint little town of Sparta, for those who need just a touch of civilization is only minutes away. At the time of our visit, in late October, the leaves were just beginning to change colors providing beautiful views. My wife didn’t want to leave the cabin; the inside was as inviting as the outdoors. Comfortable, cozy, and beautifully decorated, her favorite spot being the bay window and a book. We look forward to our return, the next time with our children. The wilderness surrounding the cabin would be a treat to our nature loving kids (in the evenings deer came to the yard to feed on the apple trees). The house is spotless and fresh. Our mission was to spend a few days in the mountains and bring home a fresh cut Christamas tree. From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we knew we were in for a real treat. Our only regret was that we could only stay a few days. The house is decorated with just the right touches for all to enjoy. And it was spotless! The views of the creek and river will lower blood pressure by several points! Can you say r-e-l-a-xing? This is the place to go in any season. The owners were very interested in our satisfaction and are downright very nice folks. Go, you wouldn't be sorry! (Oh, and the tree was perfect too!)

We have stayed in many cabins in North Carolina, and this is one of our favorites. The cabin is beautifully and very tastefully decorated. With the New River in clear view from the cozy bay windows, we spent many hours sitting, reading and relaxing while the water drifted slowly by. This is a great place to simply unwind. We particularly enjoyed walking on the road alongside the river. Very quiet, peaceful and comfortable. We also enjoyed the quaint little town of Sparta. For those who enjoy hiking, there's Stone Mountain State Park nearby. My wife and I have hiked in many different places, and felt that this offered an absolutely beautiful, yet challenging walk. There were also less strenuous trails, so it's a great place for everyone! All in all, the owners were very gracious, and were focused on making sure that we truly enjoyed ourselves, which we did!
