The GRISHAM HOUSE: AVALON'S ONLY WATERFRONT BEACH HOUSE!

You can throw a stone into the water from our fantastic balcony deck with spectacular and sweeping 270 degree views overlooking the beach, the town, the harbor and the ocean. There is no finer spot to sit and people watch or relax with a glass of wine as the sun sets over the charming town of Avalon.

This family owned vacation home offers you the BEST location in town; only steps away from the sand and swimming, shopping, restaurants and bars and all the recreational activities and sightseeing tours. We are also a very short, level stroll from where the ferry docks.

Our property is 3 stories (No elevator). On the ground floor are a couple retail clothing shops, a jet ski rental, an ocean rafting company and a psyhic. The middle floor (14 steps up) is our larger vacation rental (vrbo #65480) and this unit is on the top (3rd) floor 14 additional steps up from the middle unit.

This unit offers a separate bedroom with queen bed, a bathroom w/ stall shower and a living room with a queen sofa bed. There is a fully contained kitchen with newer appliances. In the living room is a TV with cable; DVD/VCR player and iPod player. 2 sets of sliding glass doors open onto the large wraparound deck with marvelous 270 degree views. For eating there are 3 bar stools at the breakfast counter plus a table for 4 on the front deck. There is a gas BBQ on the side deck. BBQ and dine on the deck while you enjoy spectacular views. We also now have free wireless internet access.

A downstairs storage room contains 3 bikes, sets of golf clubs, various basketballs and volleyballs and a small shopping cart for groceries.

NOTE: The middle floor offers four bedrooms and three baths and can sleep up to 10 with children. (See vrbo #65480). For large family vacations the entire property can be rented to accommodate 14.

    This was the perfect, cozy hideaway for our 20th anniversary and it was our first visit to Catalina. We agree with everyone else: The deck rocks! The grill worked very well.     I retired on December 25, 2007 and was looking for a place to go with my wife; our children and their spouses and my 6 grandchildren. I can honestly say that I had the greatest retirement vacation ever, although I have never been retired before! My wife and I stayed in the top floor and the rest of the family in the middle floor, and it was fantastic. There is no better location in Catalina as it is close to everything and the views are spectacular. My children's comments were "when are you renting it again, dad?". I feel sure that we will all be going back again, soon I hope.

  • For many years we frequently visited Avalon, mainly in boats that we owned. It was by far our favorite get-away destination in Southern California. Because our boating days have ended, we've tried to locate a place on land at Avalon that would closely duplicate the boating experience. We had no luck until we found the Grisham Beach House. We recommend it enthusiasticly. If you want the best close-up view of the harbor with all of the exciting boating activities, the panoramic view of the town, casino and Catalina channel, and the view of main street with the great "people watching" opportunity this is the place. We found the accommodations very comportable, clean and everything we needed was included. We are looking forward to future repeat visits.
