We were transported to paradise the minute we left the boat. This IS the best location and view in all of Catalina! Watching the harbor when the sun set and the lights on the surrounding hills started twinkling, was by far the most romantic and relaxing experience for us. We'll surely be back soon. Thanks for sharing your wonderfully cozy place with us.

We enjoyed our early morning jogs around the harbor, followed by long hikes in the hills. Best part is enjoying feeling like a local after all the day trippers have headed home. You have a wonderful place.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March 2012. This is the best place to stay on Catalina! We had a great time. The place is so comfy and in a perfect location. We will definitely be back!

We could not have been happier with our trip! This place is a perfect launching point for exploring this paradise! We got 78 degree weather in January and went kayaking, snorkeling and bike riding. It was so great knowing we had such a cozy and romantic place like this waiting for us. This was honestly one of the best vacations ever and we'll definitely come back! Thank you.

AAAA+++ This rental is even better than the pictures or description. It was clean, updated, cozy, and perfectly located.  It was quiet, peaceful, fun, and extremely convenient for walking, restaurants, groceries, golf carts, or a movie.  The night movie at the Casino was a treat and the walk back was special with the bay, boats, and Christmas lights.  Two different family's stayed in the unit below and both were transparent.  New Years Eve was fun; especially watching from the deck!  If you get a chance to visit, This Is The Place!  We'll definitely be back. A BIG THANKS to the Grisham's for making their little piece of paradise available for all to enjoy!  :)

Avalon & Friends

We stayed at this lovely Catalina get-a-way just after the 4th of July weekend. And, we had a ball! The location is right on Avalon Bay with spectacular views. Everything is in walking disctance. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Everything was great! I can't think of a better place to stay than the Grisham House. We very much look forward to a return visit.

I'm writing this as an addition to the review of the unit below. My husband & I got married here in May of 2011 and had both units rented. We had only family for our wedding so we all stayed at The Grisham house to be close to each other. This unit was great because it offered privacy and separation from the bottom unit but convenient enough to come down and party with the rest. Completely stocked with all the appliances we needed, all we had to do was go to the grocery store. Amazing views of the harbor and the Casino, wow!!! You will have an amazing time here and you will do it at your own pace which is what vacations are all about. Everything was great and we couldn't have asked for better. Thank you Grisham family for having the most desirable spot on the island!

Perfect cottage for 2. Four people would be tight sleeping. Very quiet at night and lots to watch during the day, as well as a fabulous view from the deck. All Kitchen amenities to make your meals AND short walking distance to everything in town including several great restaurants (so you don't have to). The owner let us in early. No air conditioning but a fan in the bedroom. Could be warm during a heat wave, but lots of windows to get a good breeze. We loved it and can't wait to come back with friends to try the larger downstairs apartment. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed on the 3rd floor of the Grisham House in the middle of Sept., 2008. We loved it! The view from the porch could not be rivaled. In fact, we stayed for 3 nights and never tried any of the restaurants. We barbequed every night because what restaurant could offer a view like that? Everything was very clean when we arrived. The bed was very comfortable. All appliances were in great working order. We can't wait to go back.

This was the perfect, cozy hideaway for our 20th anniversary and it was our first visit to Catalina. We agree with everyone else: The deck rocks! The grill worked very well. I retired on December 25, 2007 and was looking for a place to go with my wife; our children and their spouses and my 6 grandchildren. I can honestly say that I had the greatest retirement vacation ever, although I have never been retired before! My wife and I stayed in the top floor and the rest of the family in the middle floor, and it was fantastic. There is no better location in Catalina as it is close to everything and the views are spectacular. My children's comments were "when are you renting it again, dad?". I feel sure that we will all be going back again, soon I hope.

For many years we frequently visited Avalon, mainly in boats that we owned. It was by far our favorite get-away destination in Southern California. Because our boating days have ended, we've tried to locate a place on land at Avalon that would closely duplicate the boating experience. We had no luck until we found the Grisham Beach House. We recommend it enthusiasticly. If you want the best close-up view of the harbor with all of the exciting boating activities, the panoramic view of the town, casino and Catalina channel, and the view of main street with the great "people watching" opportunity this is the place. We found the accommodations very comportable, clean and everything we needed was included. We are looking forward to future repeat visits.
