2nd year, major hiccup, made the best of it, but renter BEWARE.
Let me start by saying this was our second visit to Avery’s Ocean Breeze. We had an wonderful experience when we came down two years ago. When we arrived we were super excited for our week at the beach!
When we arrived the air was set on 78 and it took us a while to figure out the unit to turn it down. In unit A or the left unit when looking at it from the front of the complex did not have air conditioning. This was confirmed after the first night in the house we woke up to 79 degree warm house the first morning. The unit kept switching to heat at night. I called the company and they contacted the owner, but we had to contact them a second time the next day when we had no response. VRBO was quick to come out and assess the problem after the second call. An AC repair man came out that afternoon and informed us the coil was busted and the owner refused to replace the condenser. So the next best option was window units. We were only allowed one from the air company and then I then had to call VRBO a third time to get a second unit. We placed one up stairs and one downstairs. That was not even close to cool the upstairs in 85 degree weather in Florida in June. The temperature maintained 79 degrees with the one unit. It was a very uncomfortable week. The complete lack of effort on the owners behalf to right this wrong is beyond infuriating. We had follow up calls to VRBO with no response or effort to rectify the situation.
The positives about this location is the short walk to the beach. Very easy to navigate for families with lots of items to carry. Very quiet street. Friendly neighbors. Our hope is the owner will replace the unit. We would consider renting again, but only if they make right this wrong and fix the unit.
