It is surrounded by the beautiful Dry Creek Valley very reminiscent of the Mediterranean wine growing regions of Tuscany and Bordeaux. Spend the day wine tasting at over 50 nearby wineries, the best that California wine country has to offer. Bike or drive down the beautiful roads with scenic vineyard views, picturesque streams and gorgeous hillsides. You can start with Alderbrook Winery right across the street.
The cottage on Westside Vineyard is furnished in a French country style with a lovely veranda on the front and a broad redwood deck in the back. The living and dining room are combined in a bright and airy open space with high box beam ceilings, ceiling fans throughout and vineyard views from every window.
There is a wood burning stove, a decadent chaise lounge to sit by the window and enjoy the vineyards, and an oversized TV with satellite Dish TV for a wide selection of channels. There is also a DVD player for your convenience. The sectional coach pulls out to a comfortable full bed to sleep two. There is also high speed internet DSL service.
The two bedrooms have wrought iron beds, plush pillowtop Simmons queen mattresses, and luxurious sheets for a good nights rest. The furniture is a mixture of antique and contemporary pieces. There are plenty of extra pillows, linens and cushions. The kitchen is fully equipped for the cottage guests and more. There is also a washer and dryer for your convenience.
The back deck is shaded by the generous branches of a large walnut tree. From the deck you look out onto the rustic red barn and vineyard accompanied to the sound of the rustling leaves and a small fountain. The seven person hot tub is right on the deck and it is the perfect place to end a day of exploring and wine tasting or a great way to jump start your day on a cool morning.
There are lots of places to relax within the property. Next to the barn and the other walnut tree is the lavender garden surrounding a flagstone patio furnished with adirondack chairs and tables and a wooden swing. The barn holds a large charcoal BBQ and a space to lock up bikes or other outdoor equipment you may have brought. The front of the property has a lovely little lawn surrounded by honeysuckle vines and roses bushes.
Of course the biggest reason to come to Westside Vineyard is to enjoy the Healdsburg area. Beyond the myriad of wine-tasting choices, there are many other features of the area to enjoy. Downtown Healdsburg is two minutes away and is full of great boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, and phenomenal restaurants, including the nationally renowned Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen. The downtown is also host to lively Farmer’s Market and many summertime concerts and events grace the lovely plaza in the middle of town.
Lake Sonoma is only 20 minutes away with 2700 water acres of boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, water-skiing and fishing fun. With 50 miles of shoreline, it’s a great place to hike and picnic as well. The Lake is stocked with sport fish and is well equipped with boat rentals and launch pads. The Russian River, which runs right through Healdsburg is also a favorite spot for swimming, fishing and picnicking.
It is home to some of the finest Steelhead fishing on the West. In the late summer and fall the Alexander Valley section of the Russian River is home to a large population of Small Mouth bass. Healdsburg Memorial Beach on the Russian River is two minutes from Westside Vineyard.
