Our family of 6 adults spent a week at Woodhaven, February 18-25, 2011, with the intention of x-country skiing and snow shoeing in Sleeping Bear. The snow didn't cooperate, but we had a wonderful week of hiking in the Park, rewarded by the incomparable, breathtaking beauty of lake and dune overlooks. Woodhaven is perfectly located for easy access to both the north and south areas of Sleeping Bear, and we also enjoyed being able to walk to the shops in Glen Arbor and to the Lake Michigan shoreline (for more walking along the frozen sculpted waves at water's edge--magical)! I love people, but the solitude in the Park at this time of the year, mid-week, was very welcome, too. The kitchen at Woodhaven easily accommodated our collective cooking (one of our family's pleasures, especially since two of us are vegan which makes eating "out" less easy), beds were comfy, and the neighborhood, quiet as it was, provided a great place to de-stress. Truthfully, I wish I were there, right this minute! (The house is lovely in winter, and I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the summer...clean, neat and tidy, as well. Also, we had family pets along, and being able to step out right out the door for a walk was certainly a plus.)Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Woodhaven is appropriately named. It’s a haven in the woods. Our family and friends enjoyed seeing and experiencing all that Glen Arbor has to offer in the fall. The cottage, far enough away from town to be an intimate get-away, yet close enough to walk there, offered terrific accommodations and nearly all the comforts of home. We enjoyed lazy mornings at the cottage, busy afternoons in town and at the nearby attractions and family-centered evenings back at the house. We were so pleased with the cottage upon arrival – all that it was and all that it had to offer. Clean, well-kept, spacious and cozy all describe Woodhaven.Did you find this review helpful? What a beautiful home and wonderful place to visit! We watched the deer everyday who almost came up on the back deck! The home is an EASY walk into the town of Glen Arbor which boasts unique shops and restaurants. Also there is a nearby marina just down the road on Big Glen Lake where you can rent boats, jet skis, tubes for use on Big and Little Glen Lakes. In town, there is a place to rent Kayaks for floating the Crystal River. The accomodations were perfect, new, clean and well kept - we felt very much at home here. We also enjoyed deep lake fishing through the Sportsmanshop in Glen Arbor(Wes was our wonderful captain), and visited nearby beaches for frolicking in the Lake Michigan waters and having a bonfire complete with s'mores. You will love staying here for a week or more! The owner, Jim Gall did an excellent job designing the house and could not be more accomodating -- he was easy to reach and very helpful in making suggestions of fun things to do in the area.Did you find this review helpful?
