Our airy, light-filled, tastefully furnished penthouse apartment is located in a safe cul-de-sac surrounded by gardens and fountains. The apartment building sits on a hillside in a quiet family neighborhood with an on-site manager, maid, and handyman. For those who love outdoor living, our spacious private roof terrace has a pleasant seating area sheltered by the roof and there is lots of room to entertain guests. Each floor of our duplex apartment has a large bedroom and full bath, ensuring privacy for either two people or two couples. The apartment has all the amenities to make you feel at home (see below). Before dark, with or without margaritas you can make in your own fully-equipped kitchen, you can relax and enjoy views of the mountains from our roof garden; or,at night you can sit out under the stars. A reserved parking space comes with the apartment. Getting into the center of town is a leisurely 20-minute walk, or a $2 cab ride (less than five minutes to town), or a 40-cent bus ride from the corner. Available for rent either long-term or by the month or week.
As you probably know, San Miguel is a lovely colonial city in the mountains (about three hours north of Mexico city) known for its beauty and cultural activities (lots of art galleries and studios, classes, lectures [in English], plays, concerts, movies). Although it is not on water, nearby are lovely hot springs to sit and soak in (about a $5 cab ride away from the center of town). Also, there are yoga classes, Pilates classes, and spa-type offerings (massage, etc.) The weather is lovely in the summer, fall, and winter.

My husband and I felt like part of the community in this charming ecologically-minded condominium. We traveled in January. Our favorite parts of the house were the sizable terrace on the top floor overlooking the town, the fireplace setting on the main floor and the beautiful architectural touches throughout. Very comfortable place, it felt like home in a short while. Located on a private and gated cul de sac, not once did we have a concern for the safety of our belongings. Never rented a car, there was good food and entertainment everywhere. Bring really good shoes for those cobblestone streets. One of the most friendliest towns I have ever been in, and I have traveled the world! A fun vacation.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Each room in this sunlit condo provided a mini-adventure in Mexican culture for us first-time-in-Mexico visitors. Alice devoted herself to our comforts and provided extensive information to aid us in our month's stay in quaint, sun-filled San Miguel de Allende.
