Dirty and aggrevating

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after the cleaning crew had prepared the units for new guest arrival. Upon arrival we found a pan full of cooked chicken that was cold and must have been in there a few days. So obviously the oven hadn’t been opened or cleaned by the cleaning crew. The other obvious finding was the filthy carpets. (This has been documented many times by previous guests in the guest book and in online reviews.) Our toddlers hadn’t been on it more than a few minutes when we noticed their knees and feet were black from the dirt. We also had a terrible time getting the owners to respond to us during the course of trying to rent these units and following our stay. Very aggrevating! So, for this purpose I caution all potential guests. We obviously will not be recommending this property nor be returning to it!
Owner response:Fortunately, we have only had to withhold a deposit for damages twice in over 10 years. Most people are responsible renters and don't allow their toddlers to pull the shingles off the roof, shove toys and the wood down the septic pipe and spill cake decorating glitter and goo all over the carpets and patio. This group was disrespectful from the moment they arrived when their adult children had a total disregard for the neighbor’s property and drove their truck through their yard to launch the jet skis then filled them at the shore spilling gas in the lake. I don’t think the residents of Lake Almanor are eager to have them back in any rental. Our check in time is 3 pm. These people showed up 2 hours early and began unloading before the cleaners were finished. The previous group had checked out at 11am so the chicken that they claim was in there for days, could not have been. The carpet has been a challenge to keep clean but the review failed to mention that the carpet was being cleaned as they arrived. The blacktop gets tracked in if people allow their children to run in and out of the house barefoot. During the summer months it is cleaned weekly between guests. We did respond to all 27 emails sent by this family prior to their arrival. If you are looking for a rental where the owners have a higher expectation and don’t allow people to trash their lakefront homes, then please call us to confirm a reservation. We would love to have you stay with us…..the Carsons

If you are looking for a place to retreat with lots of nature OR a place that can provide lots of outdoor activities, this is a place for it. I have stayed at this same lodge a few times. Owners are very friendly and helpful, the place is nice and well-maintained. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone.

After an absolutely brutal year, I was in desperate need of a vacation. The 50+ hour weeks had become the standard around the office and I needed to escape the mayhem. I was very delighted when my family and I arrived at the Kokanee Lodge, I couldn't tell how large it was from the outside, but the moment I stepped inside, I was blown away. It was spacious with a breathtaking ceiling and a patio area complete with propane grill, the local wildlife visited us often in the evening when we barbequed. It was very welcoming and charming, I had no issues relaxing. My children and I (3 boys) had fun exploring the lake and surrounding areas. The lodge was stocked with everything we needed to cook and serve the boys, it was like being home away from home. I wanted nothing more than to enjoy a peaceful vacation. The setup in the lodge was very accomodating. They had board games and enough equipment to entertain the boys. What more can I say, we absolutely loved it! I would like nothing more than to be able to come back here and spend another relaxing week of family quality time. Thank you for a faboulous vacation!!!!!

Very disappointed. The cabin was not lake front and was about a two block walking distance to the dock. Much of the furniture in the home was damaged and broken, One of the twin beds was unusable. The mattress pads and linens were not cleaned. We had to strip the beds and wash the linens prior to using them. The carpet was dirty and beyond cleaning. One comment in the guest book read wear you shoes to keep your feet clean. Would not return.
Owner response:Our site is very clear that we are 300 feet from the water. Please see other reviews on our personal site www.kokaneelodge.com We are disappointed someone would write a review like this after we made several accomodations and gave a huge discount. We have always taken pride in making this house a home.We ask guests to let us know if anything is not clean or in working order when they arrive so we can make repairs as necessary. This guest chose not to give us the opportunity to make any corrections as listed above because the claims are not true.
